Hero's Journey: Update on Hero Engine and Hero's Journey
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/01/09 4:27:07 PM
Finally! I think I've been waiting and waiting |
|
|
I couldn't have said it better! It's just horrific customer service, and popular demand. For the approx. 10k subs and online retail, they've could have easily brought up another server. Not to mention tha lack in, public expectation. They've seriously under esemated the demand on thier product (did they just think thier friend would play, and have they not read any forum hype, EVER). |

Man, I love for this game to be the stuff that dreams are made of... The truth is something different, I'm affaraid. If you'r in for a lonesome experience till you reach high lvl, then this is your game. If you want a seamless world, with lots of quests, if you want a beautiful world and helpful community, then this is your game. But if you want a world, with players, the same low lvls as you, go somewhere else. I would love for this game to be more populated. I would love for this game to be realised as it should have been, but (Im sorry, Vanguard community) it's a empty world, with sometimes, no one around for (in game) miles. Im currently in AoC, PvP-RP server, and it's gankfest galore, but at least it has something of a live comunity. I hope I didn't offend to many with this post, but thats how I see it! To OP: The fact that you posted on this forum, makes me think that you already decided.

Was just wondering where I can buy/download this game (in the EU)? Is it even released, or is it just for preorder?? |
|
|
Sweden has the most computers per capita in the world, so that ought to be an even bigger number. Plus everybody has broadband connections. Then again there only 9mil. of us, so we might only make a small dent in the percentage By the by, i think it sux that the rest of the world, or at least Europe, don't start at the same time. WTF |
|
|
There is only one small problem. I don't understand Korean!!!! Oh well, I'll stick to TCoS for now, and wait for the EU release in March/April. |

"A first glance" My impression

Im lvl 7.9 now, and just entered my sub. That's also an excellent thing, you don't have to pay for the actual game, just the sub. I havn't tried to group, yet, but I'll do that tonight. I don't see any problems though, since the community is helpfull (and very talkative), at least on my server, Inernational PvP. I don't see the quests as boring. Sure, there are some that isn't up to par (runnung around with invites to a tea party is just plain silly), but then again I havn't played a single MMO that hasn't got them. There are other though, that are really sweet. For example, the one where your are sent to investigate some suspicious people and and start beating up that poor dock worker, then taking on a group of "ousted". There is also the one where you are sent to investigate a murder, that has two different endings. After lvl 8 you should also get your house quest, to decide which noble house you want to align to. My guess is it's after that PvP start to come into play. I hope. |

Well, Aion is also released in Korea, and that has not moved either, so I guess that they wait for the US release before they move it... |

This forum is very quiet for a new game...

Naah, dont worry! DF wont be out for another month and a half (Id say OB in a month). Which gives you a whole month to tryout TCoS. Its a good game |

"A first glance" My impression
General Discussion « The Chronicles of Spellborn 12/07/08 6:41:26 AM
I've only played my character (a warrior) up to lvl 6, but the game, as far as im concerned, is quite engaging. When you make your character you get to chose a veriety of things. First your race, of which there are two, Humans and Domi (I think thay are called). Then you chose one of the three basic classes, warrior, mage and ranger. "OMG ONLY 3 CLASSES, thats lame." Dont worry! At lvl 5 you get to chose your sub class, of which there are three to every primary, so there are 9 classes in total. After that you chose you looks, armour, wepon and colour. Id say, take your time with this. The game dont seem to be that gear driven. The armour dont have any stat, for example. So you might have to hang on to it for quite some time. Thankfully you have a decent amount, not a lot but decent, to chose from. Change the colour too. Then you set of in to the world.
The first missions are also your garden veriety of "kill x this" and "fetch this", but as you progress they get better and you imerse your self into the world (If you bother to read them). There are also no pointers (on the hud or on the map) to show you where to go, so reading the quest is a must to finish them. I think this is a good thing, since I, at least, tend to get a better feel for the world that way. The combat is fun too. Its a bit like a cross between "AoC button mashing" and your standard "press 1,2,3 rince and repeat", and its hard. You have to learn, as formentioned, how the attack bar works and then put your skills in, with things like cooldown, damage and combos in mind. The mobs are quite hard too. You also get more damage if you hit them from the sides or the back. You get Fame XP for finishing quest and killing mobs. When you reach a new lvl you get two points to spend on your three attributes, on which your skills are based. And every other lvl you can chose a new skill. This means that you dont have to run to any trainer. Im a bit ambivalent about this, though. I like trainers, but its also kind of nice to not have to break of your quest run to go and see them. You also get Personal XP (PeP) for killing mobs. Its MUCH harder to get than Fame and somewhat more rewarding too. When you reach a new lvl of PeP , your stats go up. That means you get more dmg, faster movments and better control (for mages). The crux is, that when you die, you drop one lvl of PeP and you really dont want to do that! So it also keeps you from doing things that might be considered a little bit to foolhardy. You want to stay alive. But as I always say "Better run away today so you can....run away another day" The graphics are good too, if some what cartoonish, but the art direction is excelent. It feels like a real world, not some pre fab houses and trees plonked down to make the illusion of a town or a forest. The character modells looks good too, and with the veriety of armour and cloth, hardly anybody lookes the same.
The sound still leaves you with something left to be desired. You have your standard wind blowing in the trees kind of deal, and at night the crickets come out. But there are almost no voice acting and my steps dissapear when im walking in pavement (not on gravel, though). All in all, it a really good game. Sure there are some chinqs in the armour, but the overall look and feel is fresh and new. The comunity is happy and helpfull, and I've hardly noticed any bugs (except for a pair of childeren who where floating) at all. The fact that its free to play, for the first 7 lvls, ought to make people at least try it. Thats my two X (put in what ever you like, babes, stones, any kind of mony) Thank you!
Oh, if you dont like my spelling then...who cares |

"Give me Aion, or give me death!" No, I couldn't realy say that, since I more or less found out about this game (or should I say, gave it a chance). |

Was just woundering, few hours from the official Korean release. What happens to us poor sods in the west (or east, depends on how you look at it Are we to suffer the torments of long hard monthes of translation time, server setup and debugging? Or is it going to come about fairly quickly? I haven't found any info on this! I've read some vague remarks mentioning April, but that seemed just unconvincing... |

Mortal Online: Mortal Online Gets Listed
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/24/08 4:56:26 PM
Not to start the whole Darkfall vaporware discussion again. But the fact that DF "might" come out late this year/ early next, and this will prolly be out in 2010. Don't get your hopes up! If this one do come out , I'll be there faster than anyone can say "I told you so". So cross your fingers, update your hardware, and wish with all your hearts that this one will deliver what it promisses! |

The population on Vanguards servers are riseing tough. Mostly due to the fact that there are a lot of people unsatisfied by AoC and WAR, and they want something a little more imersive. SOE have also released the free noob trail area of Isle of Dawn, which have a really dense pop. (at least on the Halgar EU server). |
|
|
I really, really hope this game will acomplish everything they offer. But I just don't see it. 10k pop per server in a seamless world!! Horseback fighting, ship vs. ship battle. Fast paced fighting system, just to mention a few features. How are they going to to it? What server technology do these guys have, that the other developers (with far more founding) do not? Is the tech. out there? What will happen when hundreds of players mass up to fight eachother? Lag feast galore?? Call me a pessimist, but I fear it will be another Vanguard. If not, this will be the ultimate MMO for me, and you may gank me anywhere you like |
|
|
I've been playing WAR now for two weeks and I seriously feel that that game is not my coup of tea. Been thinking a bit about going back to Vanguard, since that is the game that captured my interesst most, over the past few years. I played it for a while during launch, but quit for the same reason everybody else did, BUGS, but I saw that there was potential there. So now i'm wondering. How is the server populations? Full or abandoned? (Im playing in europe by the way) I would hate to go in to a noob area and not be able to finish any quest due to the fact that no one's around, not to mention anybody to talk to. |

GOA OB ends with server crash and new idiocy with headstart
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/13/08 8:37:19 AM
MMO players are as emotional as litle EMO rockers! Specially when lauchday comes around. Thats when you get frustrated posts in CAPITAL LETTERS saying things like "SOE SUX", "FUNCOM is crpatastic", "POTSMOKING GOA hell nerfs" I have never been around a problemfree MMO lanuch. Its a shame, but thats the fact. I would like it to be otherwise since I've payed for the game, but then again, its an MMO they will be working on it for yaers to come. What will another couple of days make for diffrence. Besides WAR is the most complete game I've seen in years. So just hang back and relax, pop open a beer and download some porn in the meantime, 'cus on monday hell will break loose. WHAAAAAAG!! |

GOA OB ends with server crash and new idiocy with headstart
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/13/08 8:19:35 AM
There was an announcement! Came up for an xtremely short time (about 5 sec). But there it was. |
|
|
Ywah, but since beta close at 3, it means there will be no more play, right? |
|
|
I know we got an xtra day to play in the OB, but on the webpage it said that the EU OB would stop at 15:00 CET on saturday afternoon. Now they just closed the servers for 1h maintanence and it's 14:00! What gives? Are we allowed to play for 1 min when the servers come back, or have they prolonged it even further?? |
