Could someone please point me somewhere that actually sells SWG. Not available in stores, the downloads each have different problems. And to top it off, no one online seems to have it in stock. I would like to give it a fair shot, but I can not even get it... It is almost like SOE/SCE/LA/WTFBBQ do not WANT to promote it... |

If SOE were to do a complete server wipe and reset, say 8 servers, the rest of the hardware used to support those eight. If you know anything about the SWG backbone, it is a daisy chain network of server clusters, lots of independent hardware, which is different than every other MMO design. It was designed for high population packet driven use, but never approached design specs or investment. If everyone had to start from zero. Newbie Day One launch stuff... Using the most up to date, current, bug-free version of SWG they have (yes NGE).... Advertise like they should have done from day one.... Provide months of service to veterans proportionate to length of previous subscription (one for one) to any and all veterans, one account maximum... Made a sincere push to get new customers, transfer other players, assist veterans with issues, and provide a society... If all those happened, I think they could actually make something of this game. |

It wasn't really the NGE that killed SWG, it was the nails in the coffin. The released CU was what killed SWG. The CURB would have made SWG the million customer game, but they did the CU instead. Instead of working with the code base they had they butchered it over and over and over. So we got the CU, then the NGE. |

I am composing a letter to both the heads of the respective departments. I need a link list, if possible, to illustrate the current server populations at the reopening of servers on April 1, 2008, or soon thereafter. Please load up your FRAPS and document server populations and list the links here. It would be helpful if it was as such: DATE TIME SERVER LOCATIONS ETC Already a bunch out there, consolidate them, the only way to get it shut down, and something better out in the open. Yes? No? What? |

Originally posted by Arawon Umm, dude, when the Atari system and the Commodore 64 was out there was no such thing as the Internet. We ran bulletin board systems using dial up connections from our homes. We hade multiple phone lines and pass thrus to route calls into our networked dining rooms, writing the front end of our BBSs from scratch, writing MUDs from scratch. The Internet was well after the beginnings of MMOs. Oh and 28k baud? Back then it was 300, 1200, 2400 baud. (Notice the lack of k). I would have killed to run my BBS off of a 14.4k or 28.8 modem, much less 56k. ANSI FTW |

I am a detail oriented guy, and I tend to read a lot into any give situation, so forgive me if this seems nutty: WHY is World of Warcraft listed LAST in the FORUM list, when it is otherwise alphabeitcal. I personally think this communicates volumes into this sites integrity. |

It really is the only way to end a trial or subscription: POST for ROLL BACK in any and all forums you can find.
If enough people consistently hammer away you might get somewhere...lol. |

Originally posted by yesuconn Yeah, she is dead, but not buried, yet. It is not being promoted or produced. They existing systems are all that will remain until the contract is up. The NEW MMO and TV show will be around soon enough. And SOE will have to find some way to be competitive in the industry. |

Except SWG is no longer being produced or promoted anymore. It is being maintained until the end of the contract. If you require proof of this statement, try and find a retail box on a shelf anywhere, or for that matter a download that works. The trial files do not actually let you install or create accounts, they are there strictly for image. The game is dead, and will be buried once the contract is up. The new TV show is going to be a major support for the NEW Star Wars MMO that is in production, and vice-versa. The new game and the new TV show are going to coincide and play a part of each other... They are going to be released almost at the same time, along with many other marketing apparatus. My two cents, not based on anything but the information... |

You are spending your time posting about something like this... WOW

Okay, thanks all for advice. To the "soesucks" dude, why are you even in this forum? I did have AV and firewall off for those big files. I tried a second time from a non SOE domain, and got CRC errors again. I might run out at lunch and buy it, don't know yet. Thanks all. |

Hey guys, I was a day one (when not lagging out) player. Played every day, most of the day up to the CU. I then cut back by half or so, then the NGE... I have played about 10 minutes of the NGE. Last night I downloaded the trial for my new system to give it a shot. I always played on Bria, so I am going to give Bria a shot tonight. I am doing the free 14 day trial thing, and not activating any old accounts (I had 4 at one point).
I am going in with an open mind, and I am very good at being objective. I would really like this 14 day trial to stick and want me to subscribe. I think the download included every expansion, etc. I am unsure if the trial will actually let me play "the whole game". SO, if you are online in the next couple of weeks and would like some company and or can help a returning player along, let me know here. Thanks! |
