In RvR settings, I always found my self going after the dwarves first. I didn't care what class they were, I just enjoyed taking them out first.

Then after I take out the little dwarves, I usually went after any elf class. They remind me of a bunch of millionaire teenage kids wearing pretty robes and holding pretty swords....so I usually get a smile seeing them scream, spin, and drop.

Then after that I usually go after the Bright Mages.  I don't know why...maybe because they think they are so tough standing there 100 feet away from the action lobbing fire at me.  Usually it just takes 3 whacks and they're dead.

After the bright mages, I usually go after the WitchHunters. However, by the time i get to th witchhunters, those pesky dwarves respawned so I just usually go back to the dwarves again and restart the process.

This almost exactly what I did.  Dwarves just bother me, so I must make them die.   Engineers  go down pretty fast, so they were my favorite targets.

However the Bright Wizards are too nasty to ignore.

When I played on the Order side I basically just went for their healers, after that the nukers.  Standard practice.

Actually the surveys are kind of game breaking. After 1-2 months after release alot of people will probably leave the game with the constant surveys. RVR and boss fights will be crazy with those popping up all the time. Just one more thing that will keep AOC and its sub base higher than WAR I guess.

I seriously doubt the surveys will continue into the launch.  The Open Beta, possibly, the launch, no.

Thanks so much Dameonk, the pets look a lot better in those screenshots for some reason.  Just have to see them in game I guess.  Nice to see some good pics of them though.

The magus armor/robe/gear looks incredible at higher levels (as do all the choas gear).  Also at higher levels their disks take on different looks with tenticles etc.  i havnt seen this yet, but Im sure it looks pretty good.   They never get a steed, they just get different variations of the disk (or so Im told)

Of all the casters, the Magus aesthetically looks the best.

While I agree the Magus looks the best out of all the nuking casters, and the disc tuned out better looking than I thought it would, the unappealing summons are still a turn off for the Magus as a whole, even though they function more like a turret than a true pet.

The simple reason is that I lose interest in playing nukers unless I also have a pet to sic on the enemy.  I have no idea why I need my nukers to have pets, it is just something I have learned about my playing preferences.  So I know that if I don't like my pets, turret-style or not, I'll get bored with my nuker.

It's fine though, since the Squig Herder and several melee classes seem very cool.  I'll still probably try a Magus at some point, just a later than before.  Thanks again for the info.

Thanks for the responses.  Although if all the summons are just variations on the pink horror, that's fairly disappointing, as I wasn't at all thrilled by the pink horror's look.

While the Magus themselves are still very visually appealing, I think I'm going to try several other classes before the Magus now.  The Squig Herder beckons.  Hopefully I'll see the rest of their summons for myself while running in game.

Yes, but I believe there are at least three other daemons/summons, which I can't find images of.

I'm guessing they aren't just that pink one's model only in different colors.

But I'm not in Beta so I don't know.  This is why any screenshots of the Magus summons would be great.

As much as I hate to add yet another thread to this board, I'm very curious as to what the Magus' summoned pets look like.

I haven't had much luck finding them so any screenshots or video of them would be greatly appreciated.

So far I've only found this:

Thanks in advance.

And as for the Fallout comment, I originally made the buttons black and red to be reminiscent of the Pip Boy, but now that I take a second look they don't really resemble them that much do they?

Ah, I see.  Yeah, you threw me with the Fallout comment.

If you want it to look Pipboy-ish you should go with black background with green text, buttons, and what not.  Basically make it look like a computer from the early to mid eighties is somewhat producing modern graphics.  As Pipboy's display is part of Fallout's whole "retro-future" aesthetic.

However since its a Warhammer guild site (I think) following Fallout's design principles is a bit on the random side.

Ah I see.  I was guessing he removed what you were posting about.  Thanks for the clarification.

Honestly I didn't even notice them.  Just that they went to empty pages.  And I fail to see what Fallout has to do with the buttons.  However I also failed to see what was funny in the first place.  So, as I said before I am clearly missing something.  I remain fully confused.

Um, clearly I'm missing something.  That link just took me to some ugly and empty guild site. Didn't see anything at all.  Maybe whatever you're referring to has been taken down.

  WAR CE Open Beta Upgrade

I have closed beta enabled on my account, but can't get my Open beta key to register...

I get the same error message when trying to input the Open Beta code.  However, I wasn't in the Closed Beta.  Seems their system is just overloaded or otherwise borked.

EDIT: Update.  I logged out, tried again, got the error message, when in to try again and the code was activated.  So, whatever that's worth.

Hmm... I remember seeing a post on chosen and black orcs saying they're strictly for tanking.  Like if you try to spec dmg they're all going to laugh at you.  Would be cool cuz I would want the closest thing to an arms dps warrior.

Some of the old Choppa skills probably went into Black Orc, so I'm guessing they are more viable now in terms of damage dealing.

Amazon is doing this with all Games :P Don't trust them? Amazon thinks only of Money? Go Go Pre-Order it at Amazon

It's not a matter of not trusting Amazon, just that the date may change since there has been no North American release date given by NCsoft.  I certainly hope Amazon is right.  i just see that 1st Quarter of 2009 date a lot, even in this thread, is all.

They're supposed to release some info on August 18th I believe, hopefully that includes a firm release date.

As the above poster said Destruction will likely be the underdog as WoW's Horde is.  People applied the same "little kids want to be evil therefore the evil-ish side will be more numerous and immature."  Alliance is clearly more numerous, and one can't really quantify emotional maturity, so there ya go.

As to class choice, the closest Rogue analog is the Witch Elf.  Fast attacks with two pointy weapons, light armor, etc.  And my understanding is that there are no stealth like abilities.

If you like Warlocks, you may want to take a look a the Chaos Magus.  They seem to be more nuker and less pet wrangler than WoW's Warlocks, but they still summon demons and blow things up with spells.   Also,  Squig Herders might be interesting to you.  They're more of a true pet class with ugly, vicious pets, not too unlike a Warlock's demons.

By the way, I'm not in Beta, this is just my impressions from reading about WAR.  Hope it helps.

I hope so too, does anyone know which Show Timeframe the game is in? Such as Next Generation, Original, Deep Space 9, etc.

Its going to be set 25 years after Nemesis.

If that's true it's a bit odd they're using the original series font on the logo.  Also the mention of the choice between a "Starfleet Captain" or "Klingon Warrior" made me think of the original series era climate of Starfleet versus Klingons.  Possibly in a faction versus faction set up like WoW, WAR and Aion, among others.

edit for spelling
