Title is a piece from what could be accurate info from teh next famitsu issue.

This make me wonder, how combat will be more strategic.

will there be weknesses to armor on certain sides of your body,

do certain attacks or spells hit harder on certain sides? do they have target areas of the body?

Is there some sort of body conditioning in this game for all sides?

honestly, jumping is not a big deal at all. It does help depending on what time of terrain you have and it makes you movement in and out of combat a bit more advanced, but its not something you need for anything.

is the lack of a jumping ability really go to "kill it" for you?
is the lack of jumping/hoping really going to make you snap out of the game and say fuk this i don't need this i cannot fully enjoy a game that does not allow me to jump.

if this makes or breaks a game experience for you than your right you toon should jump... off a cliff.


 

If anything Jumping itself is the Immersion breaker.

I havent played FFXI in years, I quit when it was still pretty new 1 and half year...maybe 2 years and I loved the game, just took me 4 hours to do anything at all.  I dont know how much it changed but one of the few things that bugged me in that game was how linear running around felt.  In many areas you had to stick to a given path or road.  If there was a road and to your right there was grass then that grass cut you off. 

There wasnt much freedom in being able to roam around.  I realize sometimes it gets annoying having kids jump around in circles but If theres a rock in my way I like to jump over it.  Its fun seeing where you can get to or if you can jump to a certain place to make a shortcut.  I wouldnt say it determines whether I would play a game or not, im excited for FF, I just wish there was a little more freedom than in FFXI.


 

hmm, i cant really see that. I remember you being able to move all over the landscape, minus the mountains. Now if you were traveling from one zone to another, the paths were usually the fastest way to get there, but you could go quite a few ways to get to the zone.

i will happily accept whatever model allows us to have the most frequents and quality amount of content. i dont care if i have to pay or not. The content is what i care about!

My first mmo was ffxi, which idnt have much story driven gameplay, then i played star wars galaxies. SWG was the game that made me want story in an mmo. Since i already knew the lore i knew what i was fighting for and how it affected the world, but it was represented well in that game. So since then i have always wanted to have an mmo that was heavy on story! im happy to see SWTOR and i hope they keep true to it, but also make it a good mmo experience.

i dont know if it is just the femininity in some of you that just need to vent or your igonroance, but i dont see anywhere near enough information about this game yet to say that its linear, non massive, single player, or anything else. i know we are all dying to know what the meet and potatoes of this game is all about, but you guys are really assuming thats ts linear, or single player. No one here can show the evidence that states this. no one hear can show a quote of a bioware dev saying the game will be all single player, or mainly single player. You also cant show a quote where they say its going to be linear. I have actually seen the bioware devs say teh opposite, like they did in the OPS quote. And finally noone can show me a quote that the bio ware devs say there is no MMO functions in this game.

You guys gotta just be patient. All this assuming is what makes a good situation look like its bad.

honestly, i would rather not see it in this game any more then you do in 11. Its bad enough that 11 can be know for breeding elitists. the last thing i want is 14 to be know for the horrible pvp communities that are out there today.

i dont think its a big deal right now. If you still see the same issues next year, then you may have a point. but the game is just in alpha now. no need for that to be a major concern yet.

I was hoping you could give me some insight to this game.

1. is it skill based or level based?

2. is it heavily solo or group or balanced?

3. download, or retail?

 

i dont think we have heard enough about the game mechanics yet to say it for sure. They have onbly talked about story.... and thats it.. hopefully we will be getting some new info that will shed some light on what the atmosphere will be like other then the story side of teh street.

i think one of the biggest problem with AOC is its lack of personalization. A house would be good to go into and do other content besides combat all the time. Just because im doing a fatality doesnt mean im bored. Just because the content isnt action packed, doesnt mean im not interested.

For me, player housing would be a great addition and much needed fluff. AOC really has no fluff, which is one of teh reasons why people get bored with it. At the endgame you can only raid, seige, and craft, and minigame, And those never change in style.

whether its done rigth remains to be seen. but i have faith that SE did a good job. they have never let me down before.

from what they have sad so far about what they are aiming for with graphics, i would imagine dx10 at the very least will be used for this game. Final fantasy is going to look insain and will probably rival AOC's graphics. Im just wonderign how much optimization is being done since the game is seemless and not zoned like ffxi 11 was.

i think we all know by now that AOC isnt going anywhere. So dont worry about what you see on these forums. The trolls look for food in any way they can!!

So, you saw videos that demonstrate a small part of the game. That shows some of the features. A game that is on alpha status. You clearly didnt read the interviews that discuss other features. Sure it has complete voice acting. Sure the combat has new features like smugglers cover (looks pretty damn good too) and is action paced, but there is simply so much other stuff wrong:

 

The video was focusing on some cool new stuff (innovations for a MMORPG). Read reviews from AoC. You will find about how people think about full voice acting.


 


1. Gameplay is god. I don't want to play a linear game. Period. This game has some branching out, like one branch of a tree, choose to go right or left, but all that happens is that you are herded through pre-planned content. Gameplay shouldn't be that one branch and its small sub-branches. Gameplay should be the whole tree or rather the ability to plant a tree yourself.

 

This game is story driven. If you dont like it (and that means you dont like RPG games either) just dont play it. Clearly there are enough people in the world that do like it. Go play KOTOR 1 and 2, Gothic (1, 2, 3), Mass Effect, Ultima Serie, .... if those games are a no-go for you, look elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that. But just cause I dont like something, I dont go around forum that talk about that thing.. that intends to be a place for people that like that thing to form a community.. and bash it... thats soo silly ....


 


2. Avatars look like crap. The voice acting seem phoney when the faces look so dull and plain.

 

Alpha. The game is on Alpha. And you say you dont like the graphics. Two things wrong about that really:
a) the retail version will most likely look more polished
b) clearly not everyone will like the art-style that devs picked for the game. I am not sure which planet you live on, by here on Earth people are allowed to think for themselves and to like or deslike things. Nothing you do will please everyone. Game designers try to please enough people to make theirs games a sucess. Get it?

 


3. No space. No player houses. No skill system.

No space. Probably not. Not a retail release. But the nice thing about MMORPG (did you ever play one?) is that they keep growing after release. WOW. Crazy concept right?

 

No player houses. Too early to know it, aint? Maybe they wont release it with the retail version, but you will be able to buy a house/ap after a expansion (paid or not, we dont know about the $$$ system). Maybe you will be able to buy a ship and make it your house (KOTOR style). Who knows! Devs do.. do you? No, so stop pretending you do. Thats soo silly....

 


4. "Iconic" classes (...) each Sith Warrior or Bounty Hunter will be the same with slight variations.

 

Did you actualy watch the videos? They talked about how a sith warrior can either focus on DPS or tanking as he level up. We dont know about specifics, but that alone destroys your argument. Did you ever play a MMORPG?


 


5. Story in an mmo shouldn't be what a company like Bioware says it is. If they spent all this money on creating a DYNAMIC game with the ability to create your own stories, then I would be game.

So you are saying that you want a sandbox game. Okie. Time to pack your things and try another forum. Check Mortal Online, Fallen EArth, .... this is not what you are looking for *wave hand*. Move along.

 


 


6. Storm troopers with swords fighting jedis with light sabers?? Eeerrh? Say again?

 

Did you ever play KOTOR? KOTOR 2? Do you know anything about Starwars lore? Do you know anything about the time period the game will be played? Clearly not. Go do your homework and come back later. By the way, the guys with swords... werent they droids? Advanced combat droids of the Republic or something? Better check the video again.

ps.: anyone that played any KOTOR is familiar with vibro-swords and the like, and how they are effective against lightsabers.

 


7. This game will be overblown with jedis running around. Luckily we won't see too many as the game isn't even massive, but it will be enough to take the rarity out of them. Sure the Old Republic period has more, but still. It is gonna every kid with a light saber and the specialness of the jedi is gone.

 

I would like to know where did you buy your crystal ball, I could use one too. See the future is such a cool skill!
Many people will play Jedi? Many people will also play other classes (some as alts, some as main).
This is about Starwars and times of war. Every class will be heroic. Anyone that plays a Jedi/Sith thinking they are gods (that is... anyone that knows nothing about starwars) will find out soon enough the truth.

 


8. Freedom of play is not to sit and click on a preset dialogue wheel and run around in a mouse maze chasing a Bioware "story". I want to make my own story. And their world like Hutta just reeks of invisible walls...

Again. You dont want a RPG with a story. Fine. Go play a sandbox. This is not the game you are looking for... Move along.

So far Bioware has revealed nothing that takes it beyond a singleplayer game with some multiplayer capability. Sure it could come, but the videos have already shown that the gameplay is locked down into some specific modes.

 

Read my early replies. You fail at the last comment. Oh and the videos show some types of gameplay presented in the game. Crystal ball? Doh!

 

Next time just save some time. Why bother talk about something you know almost nothing just cause they are not doing what you want (Sandbox)? Do you really think they will change the entire game goal just cause you /rant you want SWG 2? LoL

i like this article, but at the same time i have to say i want great graphics, and great gameplay.

 skill chaining was cool but repetative. after a while its just the sae thing over and over. It gets boring after a while. but the lust of power made it ok for everyone!!. I do hope that make the fights a little more active and strategic.

 its really too soon to tell. right now they are marketing they most innovative piece of the game. So they arent yet focusing on the other things that we are really focused on( mmo aspects). We just have to wait and see. but i think at this point its stupid to form a conclusion of what this game will be like.

 They have already said PVP will not be in an open world form, and more likely to be the same way it is in ffxi 11
