In all honesty, is Star Wars Galaxies BAD?
General Discussion « Star Wars Galaxies 11/24/09 12:21:16 PM
I dont think it is at all. i enjoyed my time in SWG so much it was crazy!! I really loved that game. but i grew out of it. At a certain point there just wasnt much else for me to do. I would always recommend this game. |

How could anyone choose the themepark over the sandbox?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/22/09 6:47:17 PM
well i think that mmos are really all about end game. when it comes to end game, sandbox is by far the best, because the community can build and change the environment. It makes for long lasting content as long as the community is into the environment. Thempark endgame is the same thing over and over again. |

I am happy that this games seems to offer lots of solo content!

The only other game that hits the millions is FFXI with 2 million last i checked and it is the absolute opposite of WOW. |

im not sure where you guys are having issues from but at 20-25 between brostliem( i think) and the Morheim regions, im packed with quests on the asmodea side. im on 24 now and i still have quite a bit more quests. I suggest you take a trip to both regions and quest.

SWTOR due out in January 2010? Threat of peace going paperback
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/20/09 10:41:07 AM
You know im not saying it wouldnt be great for the game to be out by january, but it just doesnt seem realistic with what we have seen so far and them just being in alpha stage 6 months ago. A januray date makes me uneasy. |

i liked it as well. i prefer twitch fighting to precu. and im firmly against alot of things that came with nge, but im also against alot of what SWG was in any versions of it. action in a mmo is a good thing as long as its balanced with story imo. See in my eyes that is where SOE went wrong in SWG-NGE. Not just the mucking up of clases and stuff, but that gawd-awful psuedo FPS combat system they incorperated. If they really wished to add FPS shooter combat they should have just gone total FPS combat - like we saw in say Star Wars Battlefront. Instead we got a crappy wannabe system with no physics and no LOS system in place. It sucked and always will suck.
yeah your right, but they made future mmos look at combat in a different light. i like the twitch system better then auto combat. i like having more control over a fight. so there was some shade of light ...... its far away but it is a shade, lol |

Will you play FFXIV if no soloing level similar to FFXI
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 10/13/09 4:39:14 PM
honestly, i will always choose group play over solo play. I would only choose solo play if i had no groups to be with. |

It was such a simple yet complex system, and it actually mattered if you were good at it and had a high skill. yeah it was good but i dont know about it being complex..... I do hope they put a bit more intricacy into it. |

Agreed - and I look forward to that brave new MMOworld. My ideal Star Wars MMO would play something like: The action of the JEDI KNIGHT series... The PVP of the BATTLEFRONT series... The movement, animation quality, environmental interaction and sense of adventure/exploration of the UNCHARTED games... The character customization of All Points Bulletin... The space combat of Freelancer/JTL... The sandboxy elements of SWG/Vanguard... and finally, the DEPTH of KOTOR games. MASH that all together into a hybrid monster and you've got one unbeatable SWMMO in my humble opinion :D You and i think very much alike! |

On the subject though, i certainly welcome space combat. i cant see what a SW game would be like without it. People have to remember that this game will have mmo elements, but dont expect the hdden sandbox beuty of SWG in this game. i really doubt we will see it, and you should set yourself up to expect it...... well unless your a troll that is, lol

The next game that will be big in america, will make levling alot more fun to get through the grind. Aion, is very grindy, which is ok, but its very static and doesnt change. I cant do that for 30 levels!! I think you all know how i voted, lol |
|

I have ben playing Aion for two weeks now, and i have to say im just not very enthused. Im only in the high teens (19) because i just cant get into the grind of the game much. 1. Aion is very soloable, and has quests but the quests are the regular fed-ex style quests. Go out and kill mobs an bring back loot from mobs to quest giver. 2. at a certain point its better to grind mobs then it is to quest, which is where this gets grulling. I dont mind personally about the grind, but i do mind doing it alone. Why am i doing it alone? because you get better xp when grinding alone at my level atleast. If i have to kill the same mobs over and over again untill its time to move to a different level mob, the least the devs could do is make it so its a better thing to do with a group then by myself. As it stands i have noone to talk to, im fighting against others to get the mobs which slows down time, and since there is no change in the strategy of fighting the mobs, im doing the same exact thing over and over again. I hat to say this but thats boring, and im sure that this is what other people mean by this game being boring. If there is going to be a heavy emphasis on grinding, then in my opinion they should: 1. randomize the Ai of mobs so that they do different things, which will help switch your battle tactics 2. Promote group grinding exp perks so people can play together more while there leveling. At this point i like the game, but my play time is becoming less and less. I dont think ill last much longer but good luck to everyone else out there. |

Curious about the community here and how it'll be different.
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 10/12/09 3:18:40 PM
Well i one thing im sure of is that there will be alot of grouping activity. This is one thing that make communities stronger. When you start a game and you only work with yourself, or have only been promoted to work by yourself, you tend to only think of yourself during the game. FFXi wasnt like that though it was a little too much when it came to the group play and group setups. Since teh grup setup that was in ffxi doesnt exist in this game, i think that group play will end up being a much better experience for guildleves. Also since there is minimum PVP, you wont have the bad seed pvpers that do nothng but try to grief you. Overall i have never seen a better community in gaming then n ffxi.

2009: The age of starved mmorpg players
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/30/09 9:52:55 AM
i agree with the Op here. It seems like alot of things in mmo games have just become stagnant. Its like Everyone is using teh same stuff. I remember when mmos were built to make you feel like you were in another world. Thats what i miss. I think this is one of teh reason why no mmo has really done that well since FFXi, WOW, and EVE. on the West side. Those games make you feel like your in a world. Its a shame really. I thougt i would never stop playing MMMOs, but lately i havent found a game i really want to play because everything is just all the same old shit. |

Are any of you (people that actually play the game) happy with AoC?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 9/10/09 12:26:04 PM
sometimes im happy, sometimes im not. In the long run, if i log on, and my guild isnt doing anything, im not happy, because if we arent raiding or doing mass pvp there isnt much else to do but wait around for an minigame to start ot harvest. |

from what we have seen so far, whatever they have had an impact on seems pretty good. hopefully they have learned from being the joke of producers and will take a better artistic role, or just let BW handle most of it as it seems like they are. either way, i really doubt that this matter mush, these guys are probably just signing papers while BW is doing all the work. |

Battles with enemies will take into account front/back/left/right positioning.

Title is a piece from what could be accurate info from teh next famitsu issue. This make me wonder, how combat will be more strategic. will there be weknesses to armor on certain sides of your body, do certain attacks or spells hit harder on certain sides? do they have target areas of the body? Is there some sort of body conditioning in this game for all sides? |
