Worried about new gaming trend, where you only receive small % of game.

Until gamers vote with their wallets for these shenanigans it won't stop, unfortunately. A little self control among gamers would change things fast. |

MMORPG.com's Age Demographic - How old are you?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/04/11 3:03:47 PM
I love how the words 'old people' keeps getting repeated in this thread Ha. Believe me younguns, I did the same thing too, thinking how 'I got a loooong time yet'. No joke the time does fly. Now at 48 I used to think that was 'old' back in the day, and someday when I'm 78 I'll think how young I was back then. I can say with some certainty when I hit 78, my mind will still feel like I was 18 just as I do now.....just don't ask me to run up and down a hill. I will however game until my dying day or until my mind is gone whichever comes first. And I soooo hope its a long long time from now, video games are to much fun! :) Another thing that makes me chuckle is how some tweens/teens/twenty-somethings think that somehow they're going to buck the system and never age. Never fear it will be here and much sooner then you will like too. Prepare your mind now for that eventual day when some little kid will be running in the store and his mother will say 'careful of that old man'

It is time to fight back and save what we love!

Good luck with this. However, if SOE/LA wouldn't change it back from NGE to at least CU for the rumored 100-300k subs at that time, don't hold your breath. Sorry to see your game go, many had that feeling 6 years ago and it stinks. |

Welcome! It's articles like these that remind me not to take life so damn serious. Thank you :) |

I don't see the extra fun out of hearing my voice to simply queue an ingame voice response that is completely different from what I just said. Nor do I see myself doing ridiculous hand or body movements to play. Thank goodness the controller can still be used. Now, if it was a HoloDeck(tm) experience ala Star Trek Next Generation, now we're talking. Maybe one day Kinect will help us get to that point, who knows. I hope I'm not sounding like I'm putting down any Kinect owners, it's not my intention. I just hate how these hype shows make something totally unnecessary sound like its the next thing since sliced bread. *sigh* maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age. *looks out window* GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!
Edit for spelling and to add: http://www.gifbin.com/bin/112010/1289385686_family-playing-kinect.gif plus listen to this while watching....
I just can't get that out of my head enough to be comfortable playing the Kinect |

I've come to the conclusion, apathy is the best way. It's not worth the time, effort or wasted emotion to react to or acknowledge asshats. Maybe it's age, maybe cynism, perhaps a bit of both. After awhile though even with the best intentions to ignore said asshats, eventually it kills the enthusiasm for whatever game it is. Hard to imagine to wake up in the morning with the main goal in mind to either cheat, be an asshat, a troll or all three. Lots of better ways to focus that energy. |

General: Sennheiser PC161 Headset Review

Not so with the Sennheisers, I can wear them for hours and hours and not have any type of aching around the ears. An old clan mate recommended them to me while we were heavy into CoD and what a difference they made! I'm on my second set with the current set I have now being the longest running so far. The first set was stepped on by accident. This second set still works great. They're a little pricey, but well worth it for the sound and less ache on the ears if you tend to use headphones for long lengths of time. This review is well represented and spot on with what I have found these last few years using these headphones
Edit: fixed some grammar |

General: Why You Like What You Like
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/20/10 3:32:21 PM
Great article, it's making me think in a whole other direction. My first MMO was Galaxies (preCU) and I loved it from the first. I would consider that a cool game vs most MMO's out now. But, I do like some of the hot games you mentioned. I enjoyed Dragon Age quite a bit, I would agree its a much hotter game. I guess my 'sweet spot' is about as wide as my desk. Perhaps its the mood. Before Galaxies, I was mostly a RTS gamer, with Empire Earth being my most favorite. The first one, not the crappy sequels which became much much hotter to me in a bad way. The only thing I can attribute to this anomaly is my taste in music is just as wide from Bluegrass, Classical, Country, Pop and on into Heavy metal. It's about the music and not necessarily about the genre. I guess that's just how my brain is made up that makes me so 'bouncy' with games. |

Ryzom is a good game. It is a rather clan oriented game for sure. I was with Nexus back in the day, nothing like a couple of crazy Frenchman to make your game time fun. Hi Genia and Darm if you're watching! :) I stopped playing when I lost my comp and by the time I was able to play again, they'd shut down. Once it returned I was in other games and clans. It's been one of those games I want to go back, but just haven't yet. At first I wasn't to sure about the graphics and animations, but they grow on you. I really got to like the magical animations. The AI is top notch. They seemingly had a mind of their own, they interacted with each other, and they would migrate during the various seasons. The yubos were just fun. The seasons made game play interesting, especially when trying to get various digging materials. Pretty cool stuff overall. |

Here's the thing until people stop paying, actually stop paying and not just doing lip service in threads like these, that includes gold selling as well. It will never stop. Ever. As long as there is a market, it will continue. The best way to combat it is to stop being hypocrites! Obviously not everyone that posts in these types of threads are, but I would venture a good many are. That's why this crap continues and gets worse and worse as time goes on. I always picture some people in threads like these the same as a politician. They puff up there chest and talk tough about how terrible this is, then go buy a dollar item from their favorite game. It's only a buck right? Bah, until gamers actually take action, by not buying or even populating these types of games and not just talk tough it will never stop. |

Fallen Earth: Fallen Earth Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/08/10 1:06:18 PM
Thank you for a fair and honest review. Only part I don't get is people talking about the graphics. I love graphics as much as the next person. But for a few textures here and there, there is a lot of detail in Fallen Earth textures. It's true they aren't bright and shiny like say LOTR, but the detail of the textures is very good. The textures capture the feeling and mood the devs are trying to portray imho.

World of Warcraft: Wood: Pets and the Boy Who Cried Wolf
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/06/09 10:00:47 AM
I disagree with this article. You pay for a game and expect certain things. Updates and new stuff. All this is, is to test the waters and see what the market will take. It's asinine to expect people to sit on their laurels while paying for a game and then to get some new shiny stuff you pay extra. I don't care if it's just fluff, you don't expect to pay extra when you're already paying monthly for that fluff. If the customer doesn't show his/her dissatisfaction now, all it will do is show indifference. I can promise you it won't stop as long as people sit back and 'take it'. |

I was trying to explain to a friend of mine who got one of the keys recently. Basically it was hard to say why I like this game so much. Where to begin explaining things? After thinking on this a bit I guess it could be 1) The idea I can look in any direction and travel there...even with eventual 'borders' there is lots of travel if you like to adventure. Some areas are devoid of life, and I kind of like that. It might just be me, but it sure seems they are slowly getting more mobs out in the wilderness, maybe slowly adding them in to see how it effects the server I don't know, but it sure seems like I see more in out of the way places. 2) The idea I can level up slow without that feeling of having to rush to get there fast. If I feel like doing dancing emotes all my play time a couple nights a week at the Embry Satellite with Apoc Radio I can without feeling like i've lost any time. I get this feeling of I don't need to rush, I can do anything I want and still enjoy the game world. I feel I can take my own sweet time and enjoy the journey. 3) I think this is the biggie. I trust the Devs, GM's and support more then I have in a long long time. I trust them to fix things quickly, which they've already shown a huge potential for. And I trust them to add things that will make it even more fun and engrossing without making you feel you need to get to 'end game' by the end of the week. IE Lee Hammocks latest interview. 4) It's a whole new world never really been explored. A whole new IP with a general post apoc theme. It's something new. It makes me feel like I'm part of a world rather then another character in a game. 5) Crafting, it's deeper then it initially appears and great fun to boot. It's not 100% what I had in mind but it's pretty darn close. Enough to make me want to make things, even if it is mostly for myself. I've sold the occasional item on the AH, though. I think there is more of an opportunity there then some realize. I also think it will get better as more levels and sectors are added. 6) There seems to be room for more fun things to be added without changing the core game play. Wall of text, but I suppose these are a but a few of the things. |

Great statement just had to quote it. Awesome interview. You can see his excitement and enthusiasm for the game. It's infectious. Sounds like even more fun stuff coming soon. Looking forward to camps, that brings back fond memories of my Ranger days :) I've not been this excited over a game in far to long.

Fallen Earth: Review Retracted

Originally posted by Dana Fair enough. I play this game with 2gb on a Vista (upgrading soon!). I have frame rate issues in some towns as many players have said and admitted to. I DO NOT however have any issues outside of towns as the reviewer stated, nothing even close. It was a weird situation all around, with lots of inconsistencies. Thank you for your time. |

Fallen Earth: Fallen Earth Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/22/09 7:05:45 PM
Overall review was pretty good. The score? LOL I'm not one to 'troll', but Houston we have a problem. The genre finally gets a different kind of MMO and the 'official' MMORPG.com reviewer has a problem with mouse and keyboard? Really? Anybody that has played just about every kind of game on the PC uses the mouse and keyboard...let's name a few shall we? This list will include only games I've played and will not be indicative of every game I've played, but for example purposes only. Again these are PC versions not console Oblivion - check LOTR - check COD (any version) - check Mouse and keyboard is pretty standard now a days and has been for some time for many mainstream games.

Anybody with even a little common sense can see you more then likely deserved what you got. Someone that has nothing better to do then troll a games boards has some issues they really need to dig deep down inside themselves and work out. I guarantee you, learn some patience, work on the attitude and life will be much much simpler for you. It's as simple as that, honestly.
Edit: To the original poster, grab a key if you can. There is something about the game that grabs me that I can't place. I guess one of the biggest is the potential for Icarus to add so much more to what they already have. It's one of those games you've got to try for yourself for a true feel. A key would be perfect. There are some new MMO issues, it's not perfect, but the way the Devs are working, that's enough for me to stick around and see how it pans out. I do know this is the first game in a long time where I hate to log out and I find myself staying up later then I should on work nights. It's been a looooooong time for that. Good luck! |
