To answer some of your questions... " a lot " of players is kind of a subjective number...  I can tell you , I play on one of the lower population servers (Nimrodell) and there are ALWAYS plenty of people in and around the major city hubs (Bree, Rivendell, Thorins Hall ).  Depending on when you play the game, you may find some areas less populated than others, after all it is a pretty big game world, and there are some remote areas where few adventurer's will be passing through.

To me, it gives the game a more realistic feel, and actually makes it kind of special when you do run into another adventurer in the middle of the wild...

Simple answer is that the population is very healthy.

The game is very easy to pick up, you learn a new active skill approx every other level, and the interface is very user friendly.  There are tutorial hints as well, although you may want to turn them off, as some people find them a litle annoying.

This game was almost specifically created for casual PVE play... so if that is what you are looking for, youve come to the right place.  Its very easy to get a few quests done, or do some crafting on tight schedules - but at the same time you can get lost in this game for hours on end if you have the time.

PvP is something I do not have a lot of experience with in this game, but from reading the forums, its a mixed bag - some people really like it, some people do not... so you will have to make a decision on your own here - you do need to hit lvl 10 to create a Creep , and have to be lvl 40 to take your hero to the "battleground" entmoores.

I hope this helps!  If you decide to play on Nimrodell, I will be happy to help you out!  Let me know, I would even be up for starting a new character and leveling up a few levels with you until you get the hang of the game!

Thanks! And I really wanna join your offer to start playing with you but there might be a little problem..

I'm located in europe, and when I start with lotro it will be on the EU servers (I can't find boxes for US here)

To bad :( .. but you certainly helped me with my questions ^^ thanks!

Since I got a bid bored of wow, I was looking for a new mmorpg, I've done some f2p , tried a few trails (EVE online, EQ2,..) I didn't really liked them, there was no game that could keep my attention for so long as wow did. There are also a lot of other games out now, vanguard, AOC, and I'm actually waiting for tcos.. but I'm sick of waiting and reading about those games I wanna play something! I'm looking for a game where I could group and doing quests, I'm a casual player so the game may not be that hardcore..

I really love the lord of the rings lore, I've read all the books, watched all the movies, but I didn't try the game.

But now I made a decission, My exams will end in 2 weeks, then I will buy lotro!

But before I waist my money again I wanna know a few things. Are there a lot of people playing lotro? Is it hard to get into the game? Is the community nice? are there enough people to group with? Is the game addictive? Can I play it as a casual gamer? Just tell me how lotro is :)

WAR will come out... no doubt about that

It will have succes and a huge playerbase

I've played this game long ago for a long time with som friends

It was fun ^^ I think I was lvl 72 or something, I had lots of money and the best gear a free player could have.

But I moved on to other games, I have some nice memories... good old days ^^

But now someone stole my account, oh well...

Some games certenly don't deserve their monthly fee. But I can understand that devs must ask a monthly fee to help the development of the game (WoW, EQ2,.....).

But I also think their should be more mmorpg's like guild wars, without a monthly fee, you just need to buy the boxes.

GW is not a mmorpg

It is on the gamelist of mmorpg.com, so GuildWars is an mmorpg

I also think the release will be in september. They are still beta-testing it.

I've heard they have found some major bugs that need to be fixed first before they can release the game

The TCOS devs are doing a great job. I don't think we will get an unfinished game when it will come out :-D

But I think I will certenly buy the game when it comes out! I'm following the development for 2 years now

I always wanted to try the game, but after hearing the bad news they would close the ryzom server,

I decided not to try the free-trail

Come on people what is so wrong with this game then? It was months the N°1 fanboi game on this forum before it was released. I've read loooots of topic about how great this game is gonna be and how hard it will dominate other games. Since it's release I have only read negative things about it. I haven't played it yet but is it so bad then? A game that just has released, has still lots of bugs and other problems. But that's normal.

I can remember me the days when Wow came out ( I bought the game few days after release),server chrashes..bugsbugs and other problems.. but those problems get solved after a while. And that will aslo be with AOC. Just give it some time and the problems will be solved.

No one has ever said that an mmorpg should have a big open world with no instances

the point of an mmorpg is that you can play an rpg game with other people on the internet

so, hellgate is an mmorpg, guildwars an mmorpg, wow is an mmorpg, dungeon runners is an mmorpg, eve online is an mmorpg, ... so aoc is also an mmorpg

I think they will use everything that made gw1 a succes in gw2 , so they computers specs for gw2 will not be that high. And I also hope they don't gonna ask subs.. they will loose a lot of fans and players when they do. Its also why gw1 was so succesfull at launch. In that time you also had wow, and you had to pay a sub for it, gw was the alternative for people who wanna play an mmorpg but don't wanna pay a sub. So I bought both games ^^
