Still LOTRO. It's the only one I always return to

Can't login or download the expansion, although I'm VIP, ah well.. I'll try it tomorrow

I played cata for 2 months after launch. I barely played during the last week of my sub. I found cata a pretty good expansion. It upgraded the older zones and dungeons. I enjoyed it to just roll a new character and to lvl it through the revamped zones. Lvling was pretty fast so I could try out some classes I never really played before. For me that was the most fun part of cata. I also brought my mains to 85. I did some dungeons and some raids with my dk. But they killed dk's for me. I used to be a frost tank in wotlk, and I found out they made tanking to be a blood spec. I couldn't really get into it, so I went on to take a dps role. But still, the end game wasn't fun, nothing new, It was just the same as in wotlk. Tol Barad was oke, but after a while the daily quest grind got boring. And the community was terrible as usual. I eventually managed to get into a quite mature guild (after trying out manny other guilds). I still miss the old community from vanilla. But that is all gone. Wow is going downhill slowly. Blizz should come out with something new and inovative. They need to think more out of the box. They need to fresh up their concept.

Shame as when i tried it i thought the game had potential, just a sever lack of players put me off, those that were in game just told you to skip all the dungeons and group quests and level as fast as possible to max level. So one was expected to bypass and miss 90% of the game alias why i left.

Now this move to me = had to go free play because its failing and we need some sort of life support (item shop), once that fails they will try to go with 1 server untill its final demise.

Someone really needs to pull that plug, not just on this one but all the ones on life support.

 

I don't agree. Going F2P could really work out well for AOC. If they can make their model similar to LOTRO, then I'm sure we will see an increase in active players.

This game is pretty unusual in that almost no one ever talks or interacts without people outside of their guild (kinship). Most stuck up community ever.

I haven't been so active lately, I logged in yesterday. I never noticed what you said. You mean, no interaction? on what server did you play? I always found the community in lotro one of the most friendliest I ever came across. I've always seen a lot of interaction between players. Or the community must have changed alot the past few months.

Also, I can't say something about the NA servers but the EU servers seems to have a healthy population. If you don't get anny answer I would say, go to bree and shout over there. I bet you get reaction.

This feature would be awesome, to play with RL friends on other servers. But asking money for it? No, people pay already a sub for this game. This should be a part of the service you get.

I'm not sure if wow ever had a drop in sub numbers :p And indeed, this obsession for sub numbers makes no sense at all!

So what, this happens with almost every mmo. I'm sure this game will stay were it is now.

Sounds not that bad. But as always I'm gonna wait and see what will happen with this game. I learned you better never follow a hype in mmo-world.

Blizzard produces great games. I liked warcraft 3, it was the first blizz game I played. And also wow is a verry well done game. Can't say that much about them. :-)

I also play less and less, maby because I'm getting older. Got less time for gaming, I haven't played a game in weeks! let alone an mmo! I was planning to return to wow with cata, but I still haven't done it, and I'm not sure I will..

I play both male and female char's, for me it is just about how it looks. Sometimes females looks a lot better than males ingame. But I do play as a male most of the time. Why? because I am one? don't know, never thought about it :) I don't even care

I don't see that as a bad thing, it might make the wow community a lot nicer again when the angry wow kids leave cause it is harder now. They are just all suffering from the wrath syndrome. Wrath made wow way to easy. I mean, even I raided A LOT in wrath, pugging heroics? lol? In vanilla I wasn't a raider at all. In that time we were happy when we cleared UBRS with our small casual guild :-)

hehe, well, we'll see what happens :-)

I don't think this game will pick a lot of people away from wow, but i'm sure RIFT will get his own loyal playerbase, like most games do.

I think you can't compare alganon and vanguard like that. Alganon is actually growing. They get updates, got advertised ect. While vanguard seems more to be on life support. When was the last time vanguard had a huge update? An I also can't remember when I saw the last vanguard ad. Active communities don't have to be huge to be good. Check wow's community, it is huge, but is in no way better then the lotro community for example. lotro's community is by far the best and most mature I ever came across in an mmo. Both vanguard and alganon have an active community, it's small but it's there otherwise these games would have been shutdown a long time ago. And how they calculate these numbers? no idea, ask Mr Smart, he is wandering around these boards.
