Ahhhh, the mating call of the Vanboi ... Oh wait... its the mating call of the AoC boi... hmmm, wait.....

The MMO concept as its stands now, needs to be completely scrapped. Its industry dinosaurs completely removed.

It needs a completely new start.

I cant figure out why he keeps doing this. The character ends up fighting with kicks...

And i have to go into the inventory, remove and replace the weapon, for it to be used again.Happens in about 1 in  9 fights.

Didnt they try the same population balance "fix" in DAoC ?

The scenario fixs seem like a good start, on that front.

And dont forget, if you picked a high or full server, and the population goes down, it will again be your fault, becuase you didnt stop playing on that server and move to another one.

AND you could have called the psychic hotline before picking your server ,but you didnt did you :P

Appologies dont mean squat.Did any rational person care when Brad went into his "appoligies" ?

You should be asking that they resign.AND that they leave the industry for good.Theyve proved they cant make a successful game, how many times do you want them to prove the same thing ?

There IS someone out there who can,but til the road is clear and the oppurtunity is open to them,it wont happen.

The Public quests should have been a shining example of how to make players happy.

Its a VERY good idea.BUT sadly, being the devs they are, they just had to screw it up beyond belief.

You have a setting in which open warfare is supposed to be the theme. And yet where are the mass npc attacks on cities ?

The perfect Public Quest would have been a mass attack on a village,by a large number of enemy npcs, with a large number of friendly Npcs allocated by amount of players in the conflict. And no, im NOT talking about those static nothing ever happens side shows.Im talking about a real attack ,in which friendly npcs are killed off (for short periods of time).

So if the combat is set up for 6 pcs, and only 2 are there, friendly npcs get boosted in number to make up for the shortage.

Most of the PQs on my server last night, that i passed ,were sitting unused.Others were attempted by small groups, lost and than abandoned. So they sat there waiting for reset,no longer even usable for the quests that lay in the area because of the heros and lords now inhabiting them til the reset.

The whole design as implemented is so dependant on  numbers of pcs, that they actually discourage use. They act instead to annoy the player who cant do this, or cant do that, becuase of low population in the area.

Said player is likely to get fed up and increase that player shortage.

And it was all so avoidable.Simple common sense says, dont make a customer require the participation of another customer to use your product. Its fine if they want to on their own, and even do some small things to encourage them to.BUT DONT require them to.

Now when the population is there for the PQs, they work okay and are fun to go thru a few times each.BUT when the population isnt there, that area of the map just becomes dead space for long periods at a time.

This is stupid beyond belief, and can be tied to inept design.

They finally embraced a good idea.Heck a great idea, and yet being the devs they are implemented it so badly as to make it a negative far to often.

The good news is ,its savable. The bad news is, the same devs who created this horrible implementation have to realize its the mistake it is, and than manage to fix it.MMO history says thats VERY unlikely.

There needs to be more PQs, and they need to have "balancer" friendly npcs so they are usable regardless of any low population in a given area.

Sage words, alas I fear they fall on deaf ears. Guys like Paul Barnett and his ilk are so puffed up with their egos, how can they make anything wrong? If someone drops a needle in Mythic they all going to POOF in a huge explosion.

Now whenever Paul Barnett spoke about the RVR, he implied the PVP and mobs were interwoven, like acting together in huge battles. Instead we find the keep defending NPCs just STAND there, and every other thing is just as static as in any other MMO. Its that sterility which kinda kills the idea. They are just waiting to be killed and it feels so NOT real.

Purposely boi'd deaf ears. Those who are in love, simply wont see or care about flaws that dont affect them.

They will puff up their chests, like their dev heroes, and spout how "the game is fine it the players",or how "this game is meant for us, go away" and in the end people will do exactly that..And the boi's will have the game all to themselves, all 75k to 200 k of them. While the millions of prospective customers simply walk away.

Now its not hard to see how rationally challenged bois have no problem with this, but the devs being happy about yet another under performing game relegated to nichedom when they SHOULD have scored big is harder to see.

AND the people stupid enough to employ these devs, and invest in their "visions" even more so...

The dev "appologies", the dev pleas for "another chance",the dev statements how "all is better now"... will just increase with each failed opportunity.

Same dinosaurs, same failed games, same boi defenders......That we can take their defensive proclamations and mantras  from Vanguard ,to AoC,to DDO,etc... and match them up perfectly (except for the name of the defended game ) just shows thats things simply arent changing.

The course is set to failure, and they are all too happy to stay it.......

The problem isnt innovation. The problem is, when the devs actually manage to embrace a good idea and not screw it up, which is like almost never, all they then do is throw that good idea into the same old crap stew.

And the thing is, the best meat in the world is not gonna be enough to get people to like chamber pot stew...

Almost the whole design for mmos needs to be scrapped, and the dinosaurs that keep using it over and over with it.

Innovation needs to be the core AND the elements, not some one or two spices thrown into a stale boring horrid dish ....

The MMO industry keeps doing its best to put its own equivilants of Kenneth Lay in charge...And they get the same results..,.over and over...

Order, Empire,Avelorn ? Not sure on spelling for server.

It was listed as med /med at the time i picked it,just a few days ago.But during some of my sessions so far, whole areas have been like ghost towns.

Those are ALL just symptoms. The disease causing MMOs to fail so bad is inept dev teams.

We can only hope that Gaute truly did move out of the industry, and further that more of the current devs will follow suit.

Sigh IF ONLY they actually read  instead of just posting their stupid mantras and than whatever popped into their head.

Sadly this would require not only thought, but that they accept the possibility that the reason so many other people see the problem they dont,is becuase  the game is flawed and they simply cant see past themselves to see it.

AND THAT above all else is just too much to ask of them. After all they cant spout lines like "and those are the only things in the game that annoy ME", as they try their best to downplay and blowoff the things that cause others annoyance. After all, they are important, unlike the other players .Their likes and dislikes are FAR more an issue, than those of other players

Interesting isnt it, that the bois and the devs so often both share this same type of narrow self selecting self serving vision limitation.

The interesting thing about War at this moment,is that it appears to be fixable, if only the devs would break with MMO Dev tradition and history and actaully make the right choices and implementations.

If they follow the tradition of listening to the bois blowing smoke up there backside telling them and the other players the game is fine, they are gonna end up with yet another far underperforming title that they have to offer bribes, and beg, and apoligize for in attempts to get a respectivable sized customer base.

They need to listen to the critical posts most of all.Among those are the people who want to like the game, who want tp pay the monthy fees but are so dissapointed yet agian, they cant bring themselves to even log in and use their remaining time.

The bois will be there to blow the devs and the game kisses even if they take a dump in their cereal every morning.

The larger numbers, the numbers that include the majority of the prospective customer base, are the ones they need to make happy.

And your just acting like the same little immature "people" who choose to make up lame excuses and repeat them as mantras,as if this somehow made them more accurate, instead of actually looking for a solution.

Its amazing how so many overly self oriented people into MMOs turn first and foremost to blaming the customers.

"Its not the game, its the way your playing it"

"The games not about X,so dont play it that way"

Because we all know the devs spent all that time putting features in just so close minded little "people" could tell all the other players how they shouldnt care about the PvE or some other feature becuase they personally have in from the mouth of GOD that the devs didnt intend people to care about them

Self-serving ,self-aggrandizing crap shoveled in an attempt to push aside a games faults, because they dont matter to the typer. And only the things that matter to "it" are important.

Typical and Nothing more.

And after you finish repeating that same lame advice, please explain what the point is of having servers that people arent to play on ?

Than explain how the total population on a server matters when the main population is maxed out in levels on a  few toons, and enjoying the end game, how that population is gonna matter when some new players on that populated server try and find people do the starter PQs but cant because the new player incoming flow is not strong enough to allow for it and the large old population is already past and uninterested in the lower end content.

Lowering the number would be a bad idea.

There isnt an MMO out there, War included that has enough content as it is.Removing content is counter productive.

They simply need to make more, and make sure most , if not all of it, is accessible regardless of the population.

Last night i saw only about 18 different players in about 6 hours of play. One of them told me , i was the only player he'd seen in about an hour.

At least Three of those players were enemies.

Levels ranged from circa 7 to about 29.

There simply was NOT enough players to do a given PQ successfully in a given area.

I traveled to the capital, from Grey lady inn area, to the troll area, and to the first 2 elf areas.

Most of the players i saw, were in the capital.

The Public quests should have been a shining example of how to make players happy.

Its a VERY good idea.BUT sadly, being the devs they are, they just had to screw it up beyond belief.

There were NO golden days of MMOs.There was only the first /early days.Aside from graphics little to no improvements (gameplay wise) have come along, and in many cases steps backward have been made.

The first days, were bad also.BUT since they had that "newness" to them, and since we had no idea of the flaws littered thru them, some of us get confused and think they were "the good ole days".

But its just confused hindsight caused by ignorance of the then true state,as people didnt reconize the flaws yet.

BUT now we do reconize. At least alot of us do.And we should as, they are pretty much the same flaws that were around all the way back to The Realm.Adn each time the dev teams turn out the same old products with new skins, but the same old flaws we see it right off now.

Its not that the prosective customer has become jaded, its just that hes been sold the same crap with the same flaws so many times now, that he can spot them a mile off.You dont even have to be in an alpha or beta now adays, as the dev are sooooo enamored with hype, they point out the same old flaws clearly for us to see.

In their rush to put themselves in the spot light, and the game in there also, they crow about the flaws as if they were something good.Becuase they have NO clue.To the experinced prospective customer though, that hype highlights the flaws as well as it highlights whatever the dev team feels like hyping.

Theres a reason we arent playing the old games, and its the same reason we arent playing the new games. Its the same old flaws.

And they just move from one crap product to another they can turn to crap......

Your definition of grind is horribly flawed.

Grind- must involve an unpleasant or work (labor) oriented  element. An element that makes you overly realize and focus on what your doing.

Repetitive things can be very non-grinding when we enjoy them, and hence do them for that enjoyment.

The problem with MMOs is that the dev teams have little to no idea how to make them actually fun.Part of which is the "any monkey can win" approach.Becuase when winning is all but assured, there is no joy or thrill in it for very long.

They turn what could and should be accomplishment and fun, into grind.

Even losing can be fun,but of course its totally beyond them to accomplish this, since they cant even make winning fun.

Neither Smed nor Sony are in any danger, and mores the shame.

Both should have died years ago.But there are just enough people will low enough standards to pay for the crap games these champions of lowering qaulity put out (and keep around).

What should have been 5 star titles, in respect to customer base, quality, game features,etc.. all turned out to be 1 star embarrassments that barely hold a candle to what they should have been.

And they crow about their success.....comfortably entrenched in their own little world.. where the 2.4s (gpa equivilants) they have earned are somehow equal to the 3.5s (gpa equivilant ) they should have earned.....

Few things say "lackwits in charge" more than an MMO dev team..And fewer things show more failure to reach potential....

But than again, many of you keep paying them......
