I think the reason people like it so much is because although its not amazing, its still good for a free to play. Which is why I'm interested in it at all. |

I would not play the game if its monthly fee was over 15 bucks, unless it was crazy amazing great. Be as idealistic as you want to, but at your own risk; the final product is never as good as you wanted it to be or what the devs said it would be. |

If you give female avatars stuff for free than that is your problem, don't whine and bitch if it turns out to be a dude. Your fault. You shouldn't be sexist like that anyway. Its actually offensive to many female players. A lot of us just want to be treated like anyone else, we don't need you to baby us, we aren't infantile idiots. What the hell did you expect to get in return from a female player anyway? A virtual lap dance? Come on. I'm female in real life, and 80% of my toons are male. Why? Many reasons. Firstly, much like plenty of you dudes, I like the look of the opposite sex more than my own sex, and I like the way males look in warrior armor than females. Thats just my preference. But I also like to be treated normally, and not hit on or babied, because I like to earn what I get and feel as though I'm viewed as equal within an organization, like a guild. Also, in video games, female apparel and avatar models tend to look silly; why the hell is my belly showing in PLATE MAIL, and why do I look like I'm a male fantasy? I can put up with a little bit of that kind of thing, but in some games its like ALL of the female armor is missing chunks to to show off skin, and all of the cool 'ugly', non-human races are gender-locked. I tend to play physical/melee classes, and I think a larger character looks better in the armors and with the weapons equiped. I also roleplay sometimes, and I like to roleplay both men and women, and individuals of differen't fantasy races, because its fun to me. I'm not some big homophobe thats going to cry on a forum just because the dude I was getting flirty with was actually a chick in real life. Wtf, is an mmo a dating service anyway? In summation, I like playing as differen't races AND different genders, to get the whole experience. If you want to stick solely to your race [human] and your gender, than thats your choice and you're welcome to it. But don't be a jerk and expect everyone else to do things how you do them. Some people play games to be differen't than they are in real life, not just to make an online version of their real life selves.

The 7/5 vanguard update changes everything!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/08/07 3:40:18 PM
The models and actual game mechanics still aren't good or fun though, so this really doesn't change much unless you want the same slow grinding game you could get with EQII, WoW, etc; except in VG you can be a wolfman instead of a cowman. Oh yeah, and the sky is nicer. |

Dragon Ball Online (yes the anime!)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/03/07 9:15:20 PM
I think we all knew, from the moment we heard the words " dragonball mmo ", that this could be over 9,000 levels of crappy Korean mmorpg, but I still want to see what they'll do with it. I'm not expecting much.... to say the least, but theres that stupid thirteen year old part of me that really wants a dragonball z mmo. This was announced a while ago btw, but the official website doesn't have much info on it. Not sure if its even going to come out in the west, but there was buzz about it coming out for X-Box 360 as well as PC. |

Looks cool, especially because its free to play and the graphics/customization is great. That, and its Chinese instead of Korean, and I think the Chinese are trying hard to prove themselves in the mmo arena right now, which is good for the consumers, because the product will be a step up from the typical f2p Asian mmo. |

If strenght were graphically represented would people play strong females?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/03/07 4:45:07 PM
Yes, I would, in a heartbeat. In fact, I would prefer that look for my female warrior instead of some silly feminine giant-titted bimbo with a sword. |

This review was okay, at least they didn't kiss the game's ass like they usually do when a new game comes out. But the biggest problem with the game, in my opinion, is that the gameplay just isn't fun. The combat is so dull, diplomacy is useless and crafting is meh. If the skeleton of the game, the gameplay, particularly the combat, had not been another slow EQII/WOW style button presser, I think a lot of us could have looked passed the animation problems, model ugliness and terrible performance. The game itself just, loses. Good ideas went into it; lots of races and classes, free roaming, expansive world, good environment graphics, but bad game. Just like everyone else, I wanted it to be good, but it wasn't. It really is not worth it. |

The Chronicles of Spellborn: Part Four: Races and Classes
News Discussion « General Discussion 6/09/07 5:25:52 PM
Oh come on people, what would you rather have? The same boring lame-ass elves/dwarves/barbariens/humans set up [practically all the same thing, humans with different body types + long ears], or at least one race that is actually different than a human at least a little bit? They're not cat-people either, so its not 'lolz u put furry legs on a people tats not original!'. They're demon-type things, they don't look like animals. If anything, they look like gargoyles.
I will take the two races as long as they make them both lots of armors and weapons and working animations. Vanguard went for the billions of races thing, look what happened. They all look terrible, and the animal races are mascots. And geezus, you know they're going to make more races in expansions. Maybe these races will actually be interesting, since this dev team has an ounce of creativity whereas most of the other developers are just looking to make another fantasy mmo with the same recycled garbage. I want to play this game and see how it works before I pass judgment on the class setup. I hate playing classes that can only do one thing, so I think I'll like it, but you never know. |

hey wait a second, I thought everyone hated SOE, even the people that play their games. How many people attended this 'event', 16?

The Chronicles of Spellborn: Studio Visit Part One: Introduction
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/03/07 3:41:21 AM
I will be playing this bad boy when its released as long as it doesn't pull a vanguard. The fast combat, attractive graphics, digitigrade demon-ish race, and the sigil based upgrades and free armor usage by anyone is right up my alley, and damn its about time an mmo tried something new. I think we've got an actual FUN mmorpg in TCoS, the kind where you want to get home from school or work and play it to get your fix each day because its a game that has truly decimated the grind and enhanced the fun.
I can't wait to get my hands on it. I hope and pray its as good as it sounds, and that if it is, it does well here in the US and in the UK so that the TCoS team will have plenty of cash to keep the game alive and perpetually growing. |

I agree with lordcrapalot, Bethesda made Morrowind which is one of my favorite games of all time, but they also made Oblivion.... and I would hate to see another game that values graphics and physics over gameplay, content and longevity. But we'll see, if Bethesda can make one great game, maybe they can pull off another one.... even if its in another genre entirely, sci-fi mmorpg.
