I love how people always talk about hype.  Everything is hyped nowdays and not just MMOs.  Also, Darkfall has NOT been hyped except on a few forums by DF fanboys.  Very few people know about a game called Darkfall.

Love the part about it being hard to test because there is no linear progression and the players can go so many ways.  OMFG I am excited about that.  I literally quit WAR after 5 days because of the handholding in the quests. 

Gratz Blizzard.  I don't play WAR and never have, but I can certainly tip my hat.  I don't understand the blind hate by other so much.  If anything, WAR has brought more people into the MMO world to support the development of MORE games. 

Funny how no one ever mentions the swath of empty and unpopulated chunks in this game.  There are literally TONS of empty areas in the game.  I played this game for a long time both on release and again this last spring and you can never get over the empty feeling the world has.  Its lifeless and dead.  You can run just south of Ahgram and run through literally three zones of desert with not a single creature.  When you get down to cross the big bridge you get to another HUGe island that is absolutely desolit.

Actually WAR has way more than 10% of the supposed WOW population.  Since WAR is not available to Asians then just comparing apples to apples I would say WAR is doing very well for the first month.  I personally know about 20 RL gamers that all quit WOW sometime in the last few years.  Is WAR the answer? Hell no, but it is fun as hell.  Deep and interesting?  Not at all.

Depends on the last time you updated Directx.  If that update is failing from the WAR discs then go to MS website and do a direct update from them.  That should fix the problem.

Seriously.....put down all games if your that stupid.  I have played WAR on my 64 machine and get better results than my 32 comp.  Either you a troll or are too stupid to be playing games anyways.

What people will and can never understand about Everquest was that it was about more than the game.  It was a graphical chat room.  I can remember getting on for hours and just chatting with my guild and barely even moving my toon.  The social chemistry in that game was WAY beyond anything out there today and will never be duplicated.  That is what the EQ haters can never comprehend.

There are quite a few other games over a million.  Lineage 2 had about 4 million players too.  Lets please use common sense before posting things please.

Another thing no one has mentioned is the IP.  Vanguard was a completely new and unknown world which also helped it tank a little bit more  I think.  Look at the biggest MMO's played or being developed:

All had some previous recognition in the community.

Also, there seems to be a ton of problems in lots of game with people running 3 GB of RAM.  Try upping it to 4 or back down to 2.
