Its question of game mechanics...

Can someone make a compare between LoL and HoN?

I think that MMOs and Metal music gives very similar feeling about different worlds. I also noticed that more "hardocre" the game is more hardcode Metal fans are there.  I listen very hard music (Death/Black/Gothic) and typically my chars are named on some favorite band. I never meet a someome to speek t? me about them in WoW, but that happens everyday in MO (and also in UO and DF when I played them). I'm really surprised how much extreme metal fans are there in MO.

I can't see how the game is gonna be a sandbox. Just from reading the rest of the questions you can easily see they're going the theme park (not that I mind) road also channels don't make for a very good sandbox game.

How would you define a sandbox?

completely player driven, lots of tools to do what you want in the world.......no instances xP

they said its an open world where players actions are going to affect the world and Darkfall has instances I was in one on my trial

If players actions affect the world in some way we can talk about sandbox elements, but predefined quests and char types is not sandbox in any way.

Also Darkfall do not have instances at all. If you are talking about dungeons you just get teleported to it but you still meet peoples that has entered that dungeon.

There is some truth in what you saying.

But as i said , only hope is in indy developers. Problem is that we as players do not want to give them a chance.

I always support indie developers. In fact its kind of thinking so I support underground music the same way I support indie developers.

Mainstream sux...

Holy smokes, I didn't know mmorpg.com posters were so hating on this game? Meh, all games that come out have issues here and there, that's to be expected... still I'm surprised at their feverish hatred of Starvault.

I was long time elite member of MMORPG and can say it become one of the worst community I ever seen. Just do not waste much time posting there - one good word will be enough I think.

Edit:  if the above guy was truly an MMORPG member at one time, he should know that most posters here aren't haters but more along the lines of objective skeptics... okay maybe a little cynical too, but that's okay I think.

Here he is. I just stay silent... I already told what I have to tell.

That video is just one example how great MO is! Only they have to fix the desync issue!

The only thing you can't do in Darkfall is steal, but why bother stealing when you can just kill your opponent dead and take their stuff?

~Miles "Tails" Prower out! Catch me if you can!

Cant agree with that. In DF the only thing you can really do is to Kill, in MO it is supposed to be much different. Killing is just part of the game as material extraction, crafting, exploring, trading etc. So named crafting and PvE in DF are just time sinks. They have nothing with trading and economy in general. So what is the purpose to have PvE and crafting in PvP game if they are used only to slow your PvP action?

Bad Company 2 just came out.

Final Fantasy XIII is in 5 days.

I'm not even gonna bother to touch the key even if it is free, no time.

Devs should have done research.

Why on earth are you playing single player games when there's MMORPG's to be played?

I dropped single player games 8 years ago once I found this genre, just not fun anymore if there aren't other people to interact with.

They assume more folks are like me than you, especially in their demographic market.

I also cannot understand how peoples play single player games once they touched MMO. I can understand a multiplayer but single player games looks so dead after a while...

Beep Beep I'm a Jeep ^^

Nha you just understood the concept of the mmorpg:

X=Player

y=Monster

Z=Items

X can kill y to get Z

X can kill X

X lvls up to get Z

X lvls up skills (mining,fishing...) so he can get Z

4X kills Y To get epic Z (and the list keeps going................................................................)

As you can see for the game to be a game ther must be a X.

X can join other X and have more fun,so the more X are in the game (or your buddy list)

The more fun you will have staying in that game.

This is the main concept of theme park MMOs, and it looks that is exactly what OP was outgrow.

While it is still valid mechanics for sandbox games, the main concept there is to find the best way to progress the char for you and find proper persons to cooperate with.

No enemies?

I think there are 3 main reasons to not have so much enemies compared to others:

1. Its very different compared to other MMOs that make it unique.

2. It have great balance between hardcore and casual game play that can match both play styles.

3. Its a real MMO.

Never. Even now most of MMOs are just multiplayer online games.

Isnt WoW easy enough already?

I think EvE skill system is brilliant as it:

1. No need to grind skills. You can just enjoy the game instead of grind for skills.

2. Instead of many alts you has multiple specs on one char. You just have to go in station and use your other ship.

3. Veterans do not have much benefit than few months old player as the only thing they have more than you is more specs so the just can drive more various ships and use various equipment. Few months are enough to cap skills for small or medium ship while you have mastered them and become skill full enough to drive and minimize the risk to loose your bigger one.

4. In general EvE is MMO with general M where you do not need to catch up others but just need to find you place in that world.

In my opinion playing an mmo without knowing a single person already in it or established in it is very boring. You have no one to talk to and for the first few levels you are extremely lost. I never actually played an mmorpg where I didn't know at least 1 player in real life.  Nor would I. At the very least I think its good to know 1 friend from another game. I plan to move to FFXIV with 3-5 friends from FFXI. Its not real life friends but its people you know people you can trust, and that can share experiences and help each other out.

This is only correct for MMOs with weak social mechanics.

"Endgame" has only meaning in games where players are strictly separated by time invested in the game. Such game play schema rely on the player feeling that he has achieved something. Just because that, such games typically have "carrot on stick" game play as it have to give ? new goals when the player achieve the old goals.

For me MMOs with so named endgame content are very boring and repeatative.

Most of the player-vs-player combat inside Global Agenda will occur inside instanced battlegrounds with strike teams of around 10 vs 10 players. That said, the results of those battles have longer-term persistence in the world of Global Agenda, affecting your Agency's ability to control territory that helps produce output toward our Campaign end game. Players will be able to socialize and conduct economic activity in our city spaces.

I'm sorry, but I cant see how obtaining results within instanced battles to sway your power in an intangible world (character wise) can be labeled an MMO.You're confined into a limited space with only 20 or so players, its like any other FPS/TPS out there with multiplayer capability.

The only time you see a mass of people is when you're in the confines of your city.

Just because your view of what a "MMO" is, is not the same as what Global Agenda's is, does not mean it is not a MMO.

You even state that the only time you see a mass of people is when your in a city....Well guess what, that makes it a MMO Period.

Hell, Farmville on Facebook is considered a MMO because many people play online together and can meet up in some stupid town.

Sorry bro, its a MMO, even if it isnt a type of MMO you wish it was.

Sorry to say it but Guildwars have very similar system and they officially named it cooperative but not massive. In top of that you do not pay monthly subscription... Nothing against Global Agenda but its like name Tomb Rider a shooter game!
