Dont have a level 50? Drop sub for a month.

Originally posted by Worstluck Ignore the rest of this thread, this right here is the problem. It's the phrases "most valued players" and "in appreciation for your support and loaylty" that has really infuriated the community. Clearly if you don't have a lvl 50 your a lower class of customer. Oh and FYI not every 50 has recieved this reward, many have not. |

The Main Thing 8 Year Old WOW & 9 Year Old SWG Got Right!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/03/12 3:49:31 PM
SWG's crafting was amazing, never seen it's equal in any mmorpg. Pre-Jedi-Grind the community was awesome, Cantinas were bustling social centres. I played a Musician at the time and i loved every minute of it. This was before the dark times, before the macro grinders. SWG was buggy and many classes were simply broken, but i'll always have fond memories of it mainly because of the community, which was second to none. |

Im quite annoyed at some peoples blinkered approach to the EvE community. The asshats like Goons etc are in the minority of players and if you knew any players in these corps, you'd know most are decent people who act like numpties in game. There is a small nucleus of these main guilds/alliances who are really nasty people, some are quite despicable but it's only a handful of players, again, most players in EvE are decent people and extremely friendly and helpful. You want to know who was the most outraged and angry about this occurance? The EvE community by a long shot, the greater community of players who saw one dipshit bringing the entire community into disrepute. Mitani is a tosser, no question and his apology is not heartfelt, he does this shit all the time and his lackys lick his backside and call it peanutbutter. However, who can say they have played any mmorpg where they have not been equally annoying and childishly misguided egotists? Most have these players in abundance, the problem stems from CCP trusting one with an open forum while most games companies would never let any player talk like this at a gathering/convention. This meant that they gave facetime to someone who clearly had an ego the size of the titanic and this is the error. Again, please don't paint the entire EvE community with a broad brush because one person acted like a dick. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Novare Coast Preview and Guide
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/25/12 10:21:16 AM
What a load of crap. Instanced pvp works just fine, open world pvp is completely different and is usually a gankfest or griefers paradise. This is precisely what DaoC was most of the time, 200 v 8, rose tinted glasses does not make the truth any different. It was a complete zerg fest 95% of the time and you know it. Also this map is very different from Alderran, the placing of the capture points makes this a completely different fight, the only similarity is that it has 3 control points, thats where the similarity ends. |

Did you own it for more than a few days? I'll bet not. Mine was awful, read the reviews saying they had fixed the scroll wheel but it's all crap. Mine broke after 2 weeks, replaced it and the replacement broke after 4 days. Flimsy construction, gimmicky and horrendously overpriced. Replaced it with the cheaper Razer Deathadder which is a superior mouse in every important way. Also the Logitech mice are far, far superior in every respect as well. Never buying anything from Roccat again, i'll stick to the tried and tested makes which don't palm you off with cheap tat. |

I too was in the end disappointed and unsubbed before my "free" 30 ended

Originally posted by mmoDAD It is an mmorpg, it's just not got an open world the size of SWG. It's not a sandbox, it's a story driven game and as such you should have expected limited world maps like all the other story driven mmorpg's. If this is enough to make you quit a game in a few days then you really should consider not buying games at release as im sure you'll find something minor in every new release to make you QQ and quit. |

Originally posted by Games888 Yeah, because Blizzard invented mmo's.....they really didn't copy ever part of their game from existing games and just polish it a bit shinier...honestly. |

Originally posted by SQTO It's amazing people still have this attitude, they probably graft harder in-game than at work and it's crazy. I agree with you, i play for fun, thats it. |

Will this game turn out to have the same fate as war hammer online?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 3/11/12 10:21:33 AM
The Feb figures touted by the Bioware put it at around 1.7million active subs after ~2million box sales. The biggest reason it won't flop as badly as Warhammer is they are publicising it, there is a huge advertising campaign ongoing for SWTOR, Warhammer never really bothered and the amusing thing is SWTOR's pvp is a lot better balanced and polished than Warhammers hideously laggy collision detection AoE farm nightmare, but Warhammers pvp was supposedly at the heart of the game, TOR is mainly a pve game with some pvp content. If you think they will lose 1.2 million players in 6 months then i'd love to know what cataclysmic cock-up you forsee for this to occur. It'd have to make the NGE/CU look like the best idea ever. |

Anyone here played DAOC Hib on Galahad at release?

Played Mid Galahad, but im damned if i can remember the names of any of my characters :) |

Originally posted by sullivanj69 Im of the same opinion, 40k needs to have open pvp where no factions are permanently alligned and it's very likely it would have been good v evil or some obscure variation on this, same as WAR it wouldn't have worked and flipped a huge middle digit to the lore. |

Knowing what you know now... (Poll Inside)
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/29/12 10:55:05 AM
While i won't be playing long-term i have really enjoyed my time in the game so far. The stories were fun, the WZ's were fun for a while as well as were the flashpoints first few times throgh. TOR is pretty much what i expected it would be and i am glad i had the chance to play this game. I have not had such affinity with my character since SWG or the early days of DAoC and it's been refreshing to see my character develop beyond the usual level, kit and shinies. I have even really enjoyed the space missions and the datacron hunt as a metagame distraction :) |

SWTOR - Do they need a reverse NGE
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/27/12 10:39:06 AM
Originally posted by Dragim Either you never played pre-NGE SWG or you have a short memory. Half the classes were broken, not a bit buggy or unbalanced, they were simply broken to the point of being barely playable and there were so many problems with the game, bugs, broken content etc it was truly horrendous. The truth is people loved SWG DESPITE it's bugs and problems...which were numberous. If they release pre-NGE SWG today in the same state it was back then it'd be a laughing stock. I loved SWG, don't get me wrong, but this illusion it was perfection is utter garbage. |

Originally posted by dweetybyrd While FE isn't a bad game, some of this information is misleading. FE is NOT a sandbox, it's a themepark with delusions of sandbox grandeur. Crafting is quite good, but it's far from "very deep". SWG's crafting makes this game look like the idiot uncle. Graphics are not that good compared to most recent mmorpg's, this game is not new and it looks dated. Lag is a problem in built-up areas still. UI is still clunky and annoying. The population at lower levels can be a problem, it means the quest spots are overcrowded with a serious lack of mobs and spawns and it often causes arguments. The class system is good, the open world is great (very few mmorpgs have this nowadays). It has progressed quite a bit since launch and for a F2P it's worth a look, but it's not going to appeal to everyone.

Originally posted by Ravenspen Honestly i couldn't care less how good or bad my team-mates are unless i join with a full group of guidlmates. What annoys me is the random groups who always seem to have one numpty who yells at everyone else because they are losing. If you want to play effectively and win regularly, make a pre-made, otherwise put up and shut up. |
