I have Skyrim on Steam for farting about with mods but I put most of my time in on Xbox, I would play an ES MMO on PC but I think it's something that would do well on consoles, there are tonnes of people I know that love Skyrim and Oblivion and are completely unaware of it's existence on PC.

The video looked nice but remined me of SWTOR videos put out.  I do hope the games lives up to any hype it gets because I feel pretty burn over the last five years or so.   I do plan on playing this game.

other than how the video was presented it doesn't remind me of swtor really at all except for the story aspect.

for me the sad pvp and end game is what really killed tor

the pvp in teso looks like it has serious potential IMO

still, it remains to be seen how this game will keep people playing where other recent games have failed.

If the world is fully explorable and not separated by loading screens it will help, for me at least. I do love being able to just explore a game world that seems vast like SWG, DAOC and WoW at the beginning to an extent. Even in DayZ I spend half my time exploring everything since there is no fast travel or instanced zones. I think that's one of the best bits about Skyrim, I can just wander off and see what's happening over the other side of the continent if I want.

Where do they say that the combat is turn based? I didn't see that anywhere before the guy posted earlier in this thread.

Think this was just posted today, couldn't see it anywhere else on the forums:

I'd tell myself not to buy it, like every other MMO I have bought this year I have got as many hours out of them as a normal single player game before ditching them. I have a problem.

I am still playing, I have 5 characters, none of them over level 30, I routinely delete ones and start again as I refuse to buy more character slots. It's an OK game for when there is nothing else to do, I play probably 2-3 hours a week.

Why you refuse to go over level 30 :D ? I'm curious. You can't find class you like? Altoholic?

If I knew i'd be over level 30 already haha, I have two characters at level 28, but I have altoholism in this game, I cant stick to one class at all, I play one for a couple of hours and then next time I play I want to play another, this cycle continues and with me not playing many hours I am still under level 30.

I am playing with a friend who is very limited in play time so we are both at the same level for main characters but we only play those once a week together, or probably never now that he has bought halo 4.

I will get it on PS3 when it eventually comes out, it's been in my pre order list for about 4 years now so I may as well see what it's like.
I was considering giving this one last go when it went free, but with nerfed XP for free players, no thanks.

I stopped reading at the picture of the retarded tatoo. "Ohh look at me and my cool tatoo!". What. The. Fuck. This guy is the Executive Producer? THAT explains a lot. Holy shit does it. If you can't make good life decisions without fucking that up permantly then I sure as hell can't see you making good decisions on anything business related. Jesus tits that is the most stupid thing I have ever seen a "professional" post online since Anthony Weiner and his... weiner went viral.

I still like the game though. Lost all respect for who runs it but they will still get my $15.

Fucking tatoo... what an idiot.

I have many tattoos as well, some relating to things I love like this guy obviously loves star wars, however I agree with you I don't really think a state of the game update is the place to be showing off mediocre tattoos as credentials for being a star wars fan. He shouldn't even need to mention he has tattoos, half the population has a tattoo now it doesn't make you special.

I really don't understand *any* industry these days: people "in charge" are the same names that over the years failed more or less hardcore over and over and over (and I see exactly the same happening in the IT multinational I work for, and in all the multinationals that are our clients - ranging from finance, chemical, farmaceutical, aerospace etc)

No sign of redemption whatsoever, no "lesson learnt", no "a mistake is an opportunity to improve", no innovation, nothing. Nevertheless, even more clueless board directors or whatever keep giving them chances to make further damage.

This guy: "I designed expansions for daoc" -> translation: I am responsible for mass murdering daoc population with that abomination that was ToA and game never recovered for it.

"I created, launched, and operated warhammer". There's no need to translate anything there. Dude, you are a knight of apocalypse, the only person in the gaming industry more dangerous than you is your pal mark jakobs (he's probably spending his "golden handshake package" in Blackwater' bodyguards to protect himself from the rage of daoc/warhammer fans).

That being said: I dismissed swtor before launch cause I played the last phase of OB and it was so horrible in every possible way (for my standards) that I couldn't believe people paid 150$ (or whatever the overpriced cost of the CE was) for that steaming pile. Now after some changes and "unlimited trial" I gave it another go and I actually enjoy it: as a single player RPG about start wars with some occasional co-op option. Certainly not as an mmo worth playing, worth subbing or worth cash-shopping.

I don't know, maybe I should get married and have kids - leaving me absolutely no time to play online games. The way the industry is going, it's more and more difficult to keep my beloved hobby alive.

This is so true. I don't think there are many other industries where people can go from Fail to Fail to Fail and still be in a job.

If I rolled out a piece of software to the general public that completely bombed and was ridiculed I wouldn't expect to be getting another high paying job at the helm of another software launch.

The problem with the games industry like many other industries is that it's more about who you know than what you know for many people, the obvious exception that rule are the truly brilliant people, but then they don't work on constantly failing games.

When you play wow and have any contact with any players you see the average age is low compared to other mmo's.

Random Dungeons - scum / ninja's / flaming and griefing on epic scales not seen in any other mmo's.

Battlegrounds - bots bots bots bots / 2 shotted / fotm OP classes / bots bots bots.

Daily quests - farm farm farm farm farm your eye balls out, and this you call contend ?

No matter how epic the world of MoP looks, its what happens inside the game what makes or breaks a good mmo.

ive been in WoW from the start untill june / juli after paying many months without a contend upgrade, DS was out a good 10 months before we received contend.
In the meantime people payed a subscription.... for 10 months.
Its a milk cow.

Does MoP have good side's ? yes it has, but any mmo has good side's.

Like i said before Rob Pardo himself claimed the throne from Ghostcrawler as sub numbers on the west a crumbling down fast.

10 million players wich of 7 million are asian who do not pay a sub.
that leave 3 million western players who are dropping WoW due to many reasons and few i gave at the start of my post.

With a budget Blizzard has the income Blizzard has the money they earn is not showing back in WoW.

They ruined a once epic mmo to a dumbed down CoD like mmo, a fast food snack for a much younger audiance then back in Vanila / TBC or even WotLK.

Bash me all you want, but at the start of Cataclysm we had 350 members in our guild, at the end we had 7 or 8 people online at primetime.
Most where adults in the high 20 or mid 30's.

Its a shame that a once such epic and great game turned his face away from the community and started to look at casual players and young people at the expence of the more adult / hardcore gamer.

Look at it on your own way, this is my vieuw after playing and paying WoW for 8 years.
This year and the next will show how much damage Ghostcrawler has done to WoW.

I think not even Rob Pardo can repair the damage he has done in the past 3 / 4 years.
Time will tell :)

What a load of tripe on the age thing.

The players you come across in WoW massively depend on when you play it, on weekdays I log in at 9pm and I am pretty much never in a group with anyone under 18. On the weekends I play in the morning and my groups are filled with kids.

In my guild there is no one under 18.

The dungeons and random groups have the same amount of trolls as other games, I think I have done about 40 dungeon runs since I hit 90 and only once was there someone ninjaing loot and leaving.

Battlegrounds suck yes, I played them all years ago, no desire to do it now again.

Daily Quests, you are again correct having such a massive amount of them is just off putting.

It's up to the players to not be milked, I though cata was rubbish so I didn't play it very much, as soon as my guild downed deathwing, I quit playing and stopped paying until this expansion came out, when I get bored with this one I will once again stop paying. I don't understand anyone that just keeps paying for the sake of it when there is 10 months of no content.

That is a player problem its not the fault of blizzard/

As far as the writer goes, yeah he's spot on.

Can't for the life of me see how re-enforcing the elitest jerks by putting in a challenge mode for dungeons makes the game any better. There was already this sense of crazed urgency just to finish a dungeon for gear. Not impressed at all.

one of the big problems with WoW is separating the code for pvp and pve, i will never return to the nightmare that GC caused after WoTLK and CATA when after launch they had to 'rebalance' pvp and I spent weeks trying to respec, relearn my rotation for my pve hunter over and over again just after launch. Yea that's fun.

I know a guy who's sole fun in the game is leveling doing the questing the old fashioned way. He stopped raiding because it was the same old story. people not showing up on time or dropping, not knowing how to do a fixed rotation on their character's three buttons they simply must use on every boss fight, not getting the gear they need because frankly getting gear is like pulling teeth in this game, and that's the other thing, it's been how long now how many expansions and one still can't craft the gearsets needed instead of running 10 thousand times the same two dungeons to get something they need to drop?

At the end of this expansions life, we'll see the shift again, allowing players who don't spend their entire existance raiding right after launch actually get to see the content by releasing better rewards more easily obtained (even tho the drop rate algrithm from 1992 will be the same). Strange how they have to "help" players see content that should have never been cutoff, I mean surely your payment is enough to include the content without having to do something special and surely by now someone at Blizzard has learned that lore should never be so cutoff from the players, one would not have to adjust such things if the game was balanced properly.

I disagree with the writer's notion that Mist gives players a reason to explore the world all over again. There is no exploration in this game notably not rewarded exploration. Secondly. all they did was revamp some of the earlier questing like in Cata. That's not incentive that's just giving a cosmetic lift to something you've already seen countless times before while leveling in their old fashioned method. Quest hubs should have been replaced by now.

"While I find the community on WoW really has become Eliteist Jerks" Typical. So glad that's not the community I have to deal with any longer.

All in all I think this guy was a tad too generous with his score including value...

There is rewarded exploration, the lorewalkers faction encourages you to explore the new continent, uncover the map, find lore objects, read them and listen to the backstory behind the continent. There is even a standard/flying mount as a reward for reaching exalted.

[The new dungeons, scenarios, challenge modes, and the Pet Battles definitely save Mists from getting a low score]

This is where you lost me. Pet Battles is one of your features that kept it from a low score? (Does Michael Vick play) sigh... This is a all time low for me. :(

Did you really just compare a Pokemon style side activity to rearing and fighting real life dogs?

Oh dear.

First off in all the years of playing Warcraft and Wow, I never ever saw a panda, so it might have been in the lore, just not in the games.  Panda's was all about the chinese preferences and of course the popularity of kung-fu panda.  It was a real stretch if you ask me.

The changes in the talent system killed the game far as I am concerned.  Everyone is a cookie cutter build now.  Worst decision Blizzard ever made IMO.  It adds nothing to the game and takes away alot.  Anyone trying to argue there are more choices is wearing blinders.

They did a nice job on the expansion, but I would not rate it over 7.5, just really nothing new except for the monk class.

Everyone was a cookie cutter build before too, if you weren't then you were probably playing a gimped spec.

I don't think the pandaren are that bad, they have provided a really nice (art wise) continent to explore. I wouldn't play as that race because it doesn't appeal, much like worgen or tauren, but having them in the world around me is fine.

I have been playing it recently and can't really argue with that score, there is plenty to in game and the game has a bit of new life after the mess that was cata. The only thing for me that gets annoying is sheer amount of daily quests is off putting, I know I don't have to do them but when you discover so many of them it's hard to switch of that part of my brain and not feel overwhelmed by trying to churn out as many as possible before doing something else.

I'm with Remy on this, even the writers here do the EXACT SAME THING as the average "kiddo" mindset does, shoot people first hope for the best next.

I beg your pardon, I'm always friendly first, kill last.  That doesn't serve me will.

The guy is probably referring to RipperX video where the first person he came across he just killed without the slightest bit of communication.

If the guys working for sites like this are posting videos of that playstyle other people will copy it.

Not that it is even a problem there are far worse cases of PKing in game than killing a random guy you stumble upon.

Sure I read that this LOTRO one is an actual mac version of the game and not just a wine or cider wrapper.

I see a lot of  "this game will have X feature", none of them actually in game yet at all, the map is also very small for a survival game, you run in to other players far too often. What about the current hacker problem?

I thought the game had stayed in Alpha and didn't actually move to beta?

I wasn't turned on from the start.  Console games are not meant to be meaningful PC games.  They attract the wrong crowd and need to be ultra simplistic, because most console users are either very young or .. uhhh can't have the .. or no don't have the ..     I really can't say that part nicely, sorry.

As a successor to Eve, I guess I'm disappointed it went to consoles.

I dont know- What you say may have been true years ago but I can say that at least with Dust 514 I am playing with adults... GW2 was all kiddies.

-Just sayin.

You say that now ..... lol :-)  Good luck with that

-Just Sayin

-Its true though. I am in my late 30s and many of my friends (same age) own both consoles and PC... back in the day PC was priimarily for adults since the cost was pretty big and internet was not commonplace- Now everyone and their grandma has a computer.

Most of my friends have both Ps3s/360s AND PCs- And generally game using whatever- That said, this is my first expewrience with an online Console game and yes, the age seems to be 20s-50s. So far I have not yet met any "kids" playing this game.

In WOW I met a ton of kids (some really mature, some not-) in GW2 it seemed to be all kids-

Will that change? I dont know. As I said, this is my first experience with an Online Console game but thus far its certainly an older crowd playing this.

-If you think the game sucks, thats one thing- But it certainly isnt dominated by kids.

We'll find out I guess.  The better chance of an adult game would have been Eve 2.0. :p

As an adult, I'd rather play on a PC anyways because it inherently incorporates a higher level of complexity.

Just me perhaps :-)

I still don't understand why you would limit yourself to one platform, a good game is a good game regardless of whether its on PC or Nintendo 64.

The only reason I can see from your posts is that you like a very specific type of game like EVE, this game does not exist on consoles so you prefer PC because your favourite game is a PC game.

It still doesn't mean that players using consoles are of lower intelligence.
