I won't be buying one for various reasons:

  • Your online nintendo account is tied to one single console
  • The online ecostructure is old fashioned, seperate on Wii, Wii U and DS/3DS.
  • Laggy menus and applications
  • in the EU you can only view and buy 18+ content between 11pm and 3am
  • the battery life of the controller is poor
  • it costs too much, to get one with no games is £300 +
  • I don't know anyone that plays on nintendo consoles anymore
  • All the major selling points, online/HD, other than the controller already exist at a cheaper price
The games look OK, ZombiU looks good as does Mario but that's it, to get a pack with those games would cost me £370 which is just ridiculous.
I am sure the next gen of consoles will be priced similarly but I will wait and see what they offer, currently I dont want any of them and find gaming in Windows much better value for money all round.

I have two accounts for BSG and played it for a grand total of 30 minutes, I am really pleased to be padding their stats.

I really dislike the quoting of accounts registered as a quantifyable number of anything. Most of Bigpoints games are terrible too, the BSG one is the biggest waste of an IP since The Matrix Online.

Mine was about 7 days /played.

I came to WoW after playing SWG, The Matrix Online, Dark Age of Camelot and a little bit of Lineage. After those I thought that the levelling in WoW was easy peasy, it was mostly quests, there was very little grinding compared to other games and there were also a decent amount of dungeons to do too.

I always laugh when people talk about how "hard" levelling to 60 was, the hardest bit for me was running out of quests at 58 and having to grind the last 2 levels after having simple quests fill up the rest of the process.

One thing I disagree on is your request for class based play so that you can get some replayability by playing another class on the next playthrough.

You only get through the game by being an all round badass, you can play your character whatever way you want though, so if you want to play a sniper then just buy handguns and sniper rifles and never touch the other weapons, put all your skill points in that skill tree and leave the other blank.

I dont think this game needs defined classes. People moan about the Elder Scrolls online having defined classes, this game was described to you as skyrim like FPS but this doesn't have classes and one of the things you want to add is classes.

Just play how you want to play, the game lets you do that.

I am not that far in to the game but not every game needs bags of replay value, the single player isn't open ended so when you have done everything you are actually done. The game does have co op and multiplayer though but I won't play those so I dunno what they are like, but they are there and they add replay value to the game.

The single player is long enough to represent value for money.

Are you using Chrome?

if you have an integrated GPU and another seperate card, Chrome will use the graphics card and that will push your temperatures up when you think you are not doing anything intensive.

It shouldn't be idling at that sort of temp or even with just web browsers open, in a game though my GPU is usually around 85 degrees.

I'd vote for DayZ but since it's a mod it probably doesn't count.

I really enjoyed the Walking Dead from telltale games and Counter Strike: GO

Let us see for how long this game stays up. I have been hearing how there are 'millions' of old school MMO players waiting for something challenging with perma death.

Time to see if they put their money where there mouth is.

I have been playing MMO's since 2004 and while i do enjoy the older games that no longer exist, and permadeath, this game sucks.

Let's not blame this games demise on the fact there are not enough players for this genre, it should be blamed squarely on the fact that the UI is trash, the scrolling quest text is horrible, the story is horrible, the character models and animations are shockingly bad, the world is uninspired and tawdry.

I have played it yes and I found it a horrible experience. It was like travelling back in time 10 years but not in a good way.

The game looks pretty ugly in all aspects, the character models are especially bad, the quest text and storys that are told to you are beyond bland.

The comabt feels stiff and unresponsive.

When I read about this game I thought it would be good but reading and playing were two very different things.

I can't get any sort of decent FPS in Planetside 2 :P someone buy me a new computer.

I can see why people enjoy this game but for me it was not enjoyable at all.

It ran like a dog on my computer too, I am sure if I was playing on a machine that could get me 60fps while still looking decent I would enjoy it much more. The world feels a bit flat too, not physically flat but devoid of life, I don't understand why we are fighting over a planet that has nothing good on it?

It's one to come back to in the future I guess.

As for complaining about snipers, that makes me think the OP didn't even play, you need a headshot for one hit kill, many of the starter sniper rifles are not great, I'd suggest if hes getting picked off by snipers they are probably just good snipers and he needs to change is play style to avoid them.

Whats so hard to understand

Blizzard : " We have 10 million subscribers"

Lol no you don't.

You have 2-3 million subscribers, and allot [mod edit]who paid for an hour of play time.

If i subscribe to a year of a magazine, and pay 15 dollars a month for a subscription, and get a magazine everything month, that is a subscription.

If i go to the magazine store, and buy 1 copy of the same magazine for 20 bucks, and never buy another magazine, that is NOT a subscription.

Saying you habe 10 million subs when you don't is lying.

How is this rocket science? Detials don't matter, fact is, they lie.

** Also, i just looked South Korea uses a similar time model ~

It's deceptive watch :

Play a game that has over 10 million subscribers!

Play  a game that has 3 million subscribers, and some penny men!

They use the subs as an advertising pillar, and a quip for broadcasting false consumer health.

Other games do the same, have you seen the advert for world of tanks? have you seen the old lineage boxes that state there are 7 million players? that 7 million was total about to have played the game, not subscribers.

Your problem seems to be the way that WoW counts a subscriber, you think that some guy in a cafe playing for 1 hour should not count in there numbers. How many hours should they have to play to qualify?

All they are doing is quantifying the number of monthly players in a easy to understand way, subbed players and ones using internet cafes that cannot subscribe to the game in the western way.

What about the guy in the internet cafe that plays 200 hours in a month? If you say 1 hour doesnt count as 1 sub then 200 hours must count as more than 1?

Also China is NOT Asia, the asian market for WoW includes Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, China, Taiwan etc

I don't understand this game.  It just dropped me in the middle of some sort of base-capping mission that goes on forever.  There didn't seem to be any gameworld at all, aside from this constant fragfest.  Was I missing something?

Nope that is it, you fight the enemy to take over the bases to defend the bases to lose them and then take them again.

I am running the game on my 2011 macbook pro, i7 quad, 8GB ram, AMD 6750M 1GB and have the settings currently at 1440x900 and everything at medium.

It looks pretty terrible, I need to find what I can change to get the blurry look away from everything.

I was in a beta for a bit and didn't really enjoy it, I downloaded it again last night anyway.

The shooting feels really floaty, I have been playing lots of counter strike recently so that won't help, but the shooting doesn't really have any impact at all.

The game also looks terrible on any settings below HIGH, not everyone can play on high and this game isn't for them. Even on the main menu playing at my native res the sample soldier is all blurry, everything in the world is too, its like playing the game in a drunken haze.

I will give it some more time and see how I can change the settings, I also have no proper idea how to upgrade myself yet and progress seems really slow.

It doesn't really have that instant pull, I spent the first 30 minutes trying to find the enemy, once I did we assaulted a base and that was great but I still didn't really get sucked in, I think it's the shooting and the death animation that really kill it for me.

At the beginning it was horrible because the lagg was just unbearable... In phase 2 it stopped lagging mostly and it was really good all the way till the end.

I finished it and it was pretty cool when I sum everything up, the rewards are even better! :D But I really hope they fix this sh** with laggs on big events, it's really not something they can afford repeating.

I had an unique exp. which no other mmorpg ever offered. Pretty cool.

The Matrix Online was built entirely around live events, it was great while it lasted.

At least you could install the game, I have been downloading it now at speeds varying between 0 kb/s and 150 kb/s

So far it has been downloading for 16 hours and it still has 8GB to go, I have even downloaded two other entire games in that period.

Gave up bothering now so I will probably just delete it. I thought the game would be worth trying because I don't NEED to pay, I thought the game was OK first time around but didn't merit a sub, but any game that takes me over 24 hours to download isn't worth wasting my time on.

They could have at least streamlined the giant download in the last 12 months.

Where do they say that the combat is turn based? I didn't see that anywhere before the guy posted earlier in this thread.

Look at the video. The characters are just standing still and trading blows with shiny effects flying out. This can only be due to the fact that the combat is your standard global cooldown dumbed down turn based combat.

Or maybe those videos were before they started turning the combat into more action oriented. I don't know. But according to what I see now, I have no reason to believe the combat is anything like Skyrim, where manuevering and timing your blows to the fraction of a second is the difference between life and death.

It looks like generic MMO combat, that is a bit different from "turn based" like you suggest.

Any MMO with generic combat has videos where you see guys standing still trading blows.

I have never said the combat in this game is anything other than standard MMO fayre, so there is no reason to take issue with my posting.

I sure as hell ain't falling for it.

The trailer is pure hype. They talk about how you can be a tank with a bow or a sneaky guy that heals. Well, did they talk about how they plan to make sure they're actually viabl in pve or pvp? Of course not, that would be bad PR. Best part is devs never talk about what mechanics they have to make sure the game as longevity beyond a coule of months.

Dodgy answers to hard questions. As with very new mmorpg, i'll wait atleast a month before making any hard pressed decision. I am indeed interested in the potential RVR for endgame, aswell as crafting, but so far, a 1 minute zerg fight isn't enough for me.

Of course its HYPE, do you want the first video they release to have them talking about how the game is crap and no one should buy it?

I got one and all I can say without breaking NDA is that the game is no longer installed on my computer.
Game is bad

Seems like an OK game to me, for a free game anyway its worth having installed on my computer to play now and again.

The combat is more engaging than GW2, the graphics arent the best but it will run on any computer. I like the fact that you have to loot things to craft armour and the armour doesnt just magically drop from a boss.

Double tapping a direction seems to work fine for dodging, my dodge and blocking both work.

No one in game spoke english though I and I was on the english server so it felt a bit like a single player game apart from one person duelling me.
