EQOA - still my favorite MMORPG
General Discussion « EverQuest Online Adventures 12/11/08 5:00:54 PM
This game was great for a while. I loved playing it but grinding is just boring. Lack of content is what killed it. There are diehards who still play but those are just people who are to afraid to move on. If you read the EQOA forums a great number of posts are of the "what would you like to see " or "What's your EQOA wishlist" type of thing. Reason for that is whwn you don't have much, you wish for what you don't have. You talk about how "the game is what you make of it" while true to a degree you also pay a fee for SOE to make something of it, and they don't. So I know people say it's great and defend it from it's detractors but really the truth is, it's a game that didn't get enough love. So if you like standing around at camp and killing the same monsters repeatedly, and you like developers that promise you things and never deliver, and take things away for no reason and make you wait over a year to get them back, enjoy! |

I played EQOA for several years as well as other MMO's past and currently and I it's only my opinion but if they make a game for the PS3 in the vein of EQ it needs to be a new game not EQOA as it is. I still check the forums for EQOA to see what's going on and it's really entertaining. People still asking for the same things people asked for 2 years ago. If you haven't gotten them what does that tell you??? Plus it's all things people have in other MMO's. So while everyone there spouts off about how EQOA could be the best game out there all they do is cry for things other people currently enjoy palying a games other than EQOA. Also EQOA is in no way, shape, or form better than EQ Live. EQOA basically is and will always be 1)Find a camp 2)Kill same group of monsters over and over. I do adnit every game has at least a bit of a grind in it somewhere but EQOA is basically all grind. Go to the forums and see where folks are begging for new XP camps. Are you kidding me. You want a new place to stand stagnant for hours on end, what could be more boring. The game started to die long before Sony slowed down their support of it. It never really got that big to begin with so why would they port it to PS3 or PC. They already have far superior pc games. A day will come when the remaining people there will try something else, then they will wonder why they didn't get out earlier and enjoy games with content and updates. They all whine about the game dying and server merges and they don't want their years of work wasted. News flash any mmo will someday come to end so your work will ultimately be wasted, so why waste it grinding away in a game with no players and nothing to do but grind(and don't tell me abot the raiding and questing, I know it's a joke). This was all just my opinion of course if you play EQOA enjoy! |

I recently saw a special on this HD gaming channel on my cable system about Guild Wars. It really intrigued me. I have read some of this thread and have a question for the vets. I saw where people said you can buy any campaign to start, if I buy one and enjoy it then move on to Eye Of The North am I missing out on things by not getting them all? Any suggestion on which one to start with?? |

Have they said anything about making a PS3 version ever?

Here's my 2 cents. I played EQOA for several years and basically it just got stale. If you want to get a flavor for what's happening there look at their forums and see it's filled with posts regarding how the game is dying out and other posts basically asking for things that many other MMO's have but EQOA will never get. It's a major league grindfest. While i realize that every MMO has some grind to it tha'ts all there is here really. So if you want to stand at a camp and kill the same monsters over and over you'll like EQOA. I did llove it for a while but lack of content and updates along with the boredom of grinding chased me away. I've played quite a few MMO's so I do have some experince. This is only my opinion of course. I wouldn't suggest buying a PS2 for it though at this point. Play a game that actually has things to do. |

Does it really matter what it's rated here. If you like great, if not that's great too. |
