Initial release problems, typical MMO launch.
General Discussion « Phantasy Star Universe 10/30/06 4:44:12 PM
Sry the tone of my response was completly uncalled for. Neuromad, if everything is updated and your system is clean the only thing I can think of would be to do a soft reinstall of windows, called a repair. It installs all the default drivers for windows, and redoes the registry. Unfortunately you will need to DL all the MS updates. I also reccomend regular defrag for thoes who don't do it. Leasa this might solve your windows prob as well. Again I appologize for my post, it was written after hours of helping ppl with PC problems. And if you know PCs you know how frustrating helping the masses can be. |

Initial release problems, typical MMO launch.
General Discussion « Phantasy Star Universe 10/28/06 1:01:49 PM
I wouldn't consider 1 day of login problems a bad launch. If you ppl would bother to read the technical support forums you would find that ppl have solved all the problems in reguard to software issues. 1. Load up the DX-9 off the CD, somthing is different in it. 2. Make sure gamegaurd has full internet access through the firewall. 3. Make sure you have updated Video and mainboard drivers. 4. Make sure your system is clean of Viruses and Spyware. 5. Make sure any unnecessary background programs are turned off. For this task I point you to www.theeldergeek.com. In short learn how to use your computer b4 spouting this garbage. |

How will Star Trek Online avoid the failures of SWG?
Perpetual Studios Version Discussion « Star Trek Online 8/24/06 7:47:27 AM
If SoE grabs STO they will likely be grabbing it to repair their badly tarnished reputation. In that light it is highly probable they will put a tremendous amount of effort into producing a top notch MMO.
Weather or not they will be sucessfull depends entirely upon the development budget, and getting a good feel of what the community is expecting. I predict failure......I'm sorry, no amount of optimism could help if SoE bought STO....well I tried ; ; |

Any thoughts, reviews of the game so far?

As far as the server technology being powerfull enough to handle RV......It is
If they buy AM2 servers and use ring0 virtualization they could build a server as powerfull as they could possibly want. The company also might be using Xeon's, which don't handle a heavy server load nearly as well as an Opteron. |

All these long arguments are absurd.
If it's instanced I will not play it. I don't care how it's done. If it isn't a true mmorpg with long term character advancment, or isn't a vast perpetual world that is constantly populated,Etc...etc... I won't play By the time this is released Graphics/Processing will be advanced enough to handle anything they can throw at us. There is absolutely no reason for them to leave off even a single bell or whistle that could possibly be imagined. I don't care if the game costs 100 mil to make, If they give us what we can imagine they will make that back in a couple months. |

what is your favorite episode?
Perpetual Studios Version Discussion « Star Trek Online 7/08/06 5:40:01 PM
Mine would happen to be the Enterprise episode when they encountered a vulcan ship that followed a different religion than traditional vulcans.......they were all empathic vulcans.......and they were looking for an ideal world to colonize.....they were the ancestors of the Romulans.

They are alraedy trying to Dumb the game down!
Perpetual Studios Version Discussion « Star Trek Online 7/08/06 5:25:22 PM
I wan't detail........I want -5 morale if the food replicators break down.
I want each profession to have a plethora of abilities that make it unique. Engineers that specialize in specific types of technology. Trying to make this game into an action game and a mmorpg at the same time will result in failure. |

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Solo Content Q&A
News Discussion « General Discussion 6/24/06 3:06:40 AM
The fatal flaws I see in DDO are not items that they can change.
DDO is a twitch game. In D&D everything is measured, how far you can run in a round, BB/LG, attacking or moving, Free actions. There is no way you can capture all that in the twitch combat system they implemented. DDO from the begining should have been made as FTBCCR (Fast turn based continuous combat rounds) That way they can adhere to D&D rules and still have a persistent world. No crafting. Crafting is a vital part of D&D. Not necessarilly player crafting, but at least some way to get crafted items. I can't remember how many times my ass was saved by blowing through my stash of asassin's venom, Or by a well placed firecracker, Or the joy of rolling a 20 on crafting(And watching the DM's face scrunch up at the prospect of handing out a Tailored masterwork wpn). Everything is instanced.........OMG.....WTF......OMGWTFBBQ, WTFH were they thinking. D&D is a persistant world. How in the F'ing hell can you call an instanced game D&D. ROFLMAOCTDOMOV |

hull integrety failing?, I WANNA SEE IT!
Perpetual Studios Version Discussion « Star Trek Online 6/06/06 3:31:46 PM
I can see where you are comming from, but by the time this game is ready for beta the opteron co-processors will be on the market. and mabye HT-3.0 as well. I can't see there being a performance bottleneck a year from now. They could even set up a seperate server using Pacifica. just to handle the extra load. |

If you were offended then you are probably in the dumb crowd......in that case it's simply a matter of calling apples apples.
Otherwise loose the Liberalism, or get a shrink. |
