I am playing Tera currently, and while I really hope what your saying is true I will take it with a grain of salt. You have listed no proof that all expansions will be free for the NA client. So pics or it didnt happen.

It is standard for every Korean MMO I have played. Lineage 2 has had something like 12 major expansions all of which were free (plus they usually add more to the game than most paid expansions imo).

It seems that the Korean attitude is that if you are paying a subscription fee that content should be provided free.

I realize that is the way it mostly works, but the game is still too young to confirm that. However I think that is a great way to do business, your paying us money every month it is our job to entertain you. Yup, good stuff. Now if only Blizzard could adopt that policy.

EVE Online has done it and still doing it ever since it released back in 2003.

So it's not only Korean companies that do it. CCP is based in Iceland, Europe.

Does anybody honestly think that ea is going go invest anything into this game?  Honestly this game is bleeding subs like crazy,  why would ea devote anything at this point,  You don't spend more money trying to save a game that is already dying.  You reallocate those funds.  That is basically what the guy said,  its not our top 5, that should make anybody playing the game go "oh crud".

Yes I do.

The invested LOTS to build the game, they aren't just going to pull the plug less than 6 months after they've launched it.  I also think it's funny everybody says they're bleeding subs like crazy, when in fact they're still the 2nd biggest MMORPG ever launched, even after having bled all of those subs.  No other game has ever had 1M subs (except WoW) within 1 month of launch let alone 5, and SWTOR is still bigger than that.

I swear, it's like your Ferrari has a dent on the hood, so you're saying screw it, it's worthless now, let's drive it off of a cliff.

Amazing.

you honestly think SWTOR currently has over a million paying subs...

amazing.

Unless EA is committing securities fraud, then yes I do believe their independently audited financial statements which state  as much are the truth.

Technically they didn't. They just gave practically everyone a free month, to artificially boost their sub numbers before the Q4 report.

My post is very clear. Instead of having to grind back through to max level you can pay a rather steep fee to the cash shop.

Why did they wait til after they had maxed initial sales to introduce this? hmmmm

I think you should follow your own posted link in the OP, take a deep breath and then carefully look into that shop again what it really offers!

I think you are mixing up the race change with class change LOL!

There is absolutely nothing in that store that offers any ingame advantage nor negating the need to roll an ALT, unless you suddenly don't like your gender or race! Again LOL!

See my previous post! "THE" Bioware no longer exist.

OK ...so it this version of Biowares first MMO. How many developers keep all the same teams forever in the gaming business. Sure..some key figureheads maybe..but the business is transitory at best. Guess what....the Ronald McDonald you see on the commercials isn't the same one from the 1963 or the 70's or last year even. Does this shock anyone?

You don't get it do you? Read my post before this one again. Maybe it will sink in and you get it finally.

Finally an explanation.

Lay out tons of cash or repeat hideous boring grind for an alt.

Glad I didn't buy it. I would feel like a sucker.

I take it, this is suppose to be a funny post? As I don't see anything but weapon skins in that store, plus the usual premium services any P2P MMO has been offering since a decade ago.

I enjoy playing SWTOR but this article royally pissed me off...

http://tor-talk.com/storm-preparation/

CLIF NOTES: EA/Bioware does not view this game as a top 5 revenue gainer and as such they will be devoting most of their attention elsewhere.

Huh?  Where, exactly does it say that?

I love how people make up their own "quotes", claim they come from an article, nobody bothers to actually read the article, and just assume the OP is telling the truth...

Here's a quote, copy/pasted directly from the article:

"But we love the franchise, we’re going to grow the franchise and just like we want to see Tiger Woods Golf grow or SSX grow, or Madden for that matter, we’re going to drive this one for growth.

If it's not in EA's top 5, it's going on life support! Period!

I mean... I don't know about you... but the game really feels like it's already on life support!

Ridiculous long time between content patches! No news about 1.3 AT ALL!  Nothing more about rated warzones. Nothing more about Ilum.

Even more important... they continue to ignore the screaming playerbase for server mergers and are in a massive thread lock/delete frenzy on the forums!

Just face it! SW:TOR is already down running on a skeleton crew.

I guess their F2P conversion is paying off hehe.

This is Bioware's first MMO, cut them some slack. You really think EA and/or LucasArts is helping them out much now. LucasArts was only in it for the licensed  story and EA only handles the business end, such as subscription transactions. So in my eye's I see this game is a learning expierence for Bioware and I have faith they'll get it straight before the game's first anniversary. In my honest opinion Bioware is one of the top 5 developers of the last decade and just like there other offline games, I will be playing TOR and any other online game of their's in the years to come.

This isn't the Bioware you know!

When EA bought Bioware, they opened up several new studios in the US and slapped the name Bioware on it, to milk the brand name.

SW:TOR is developed in one of those studios.

The Bioware you and I know, no longer exist. That studio in Canada is nothing but an advisory / tutoring department now.

That's why Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 were so underwhelming too (to say it nicely).

Meanwhile, funcom is spending twice as much as they make. They lost 16mil in 2011.

No kidding! with The Secret World still being in development. /shrug

I think a lot of people who complain about the graphics must be people with ATI cards and so have trouble to get AA to work properly.

I think D3 graphics look pretty decent (nothing like Skyrim or the like), but decent. I run on max settings and have a NVIDIA card.

Are there known issues with ATI cards running this game?

In wich game aren't there known issues with ATI cards? lol.

I have always been a dedicated fan of ATI cards, but ever since after the Radion 9xxx series it has gone steep downhill with ATI, specifically with their Catalyst drivers.

I am not saying NVidia has no driver issues, but those are far and few between compared to the issues with ATI cards each and every time!

Last year I tried to buy an ATI card again, just to check it out if things had improved, within 2 days I returned it and exchanged it for a NVidia card again!

Never ever will I buy an ATI card again.

Jesus, you too Mike?

A horrible start? You're seriously going to label the game in that negative fashion over a few measly few hours downtime on the launch day of the most aniticipated PC game in history?

Honestly, your article reads like it was written by the forum trolls who spent the duration of the day crying on the o-forums yesterday about not being able to play, while the rest of us had a really enjoyable experience. The only downtime that was truly an inconvenience was the downtime yesterday evening, the other period's of downtime were trivial at best.

Way to jump on the bandwagon.

A few hours?  I was lucky to get in early afternoon (after spamming through the 37 error for over one and half hour) and kept myself logged in during dinner.

My gf wasn't able to get in at all the whole day yesterday due to errors 37 and 75! She still hasn't been able to get in!

So please!  A few hours my ass!

That said, Ive heard Blizzard state somewhere that 70% of the items wont start showing up till AFTER Normal.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/22/diablo-3-70-of-items-appear-beyond-normal-difficulty/

I don't know if that is still the case now it's live!  As so far early reports from people playing Hardcore mode, they aren't getting any better loot at all!

It's really a buggy mess right now.

- Problems with servers. Login issues. Lag. Etc.

- Characters dissapearing.

- Achievement system not working and for those who it does, they lose most of it after a relog.

I find it really baffling that the achievement system appearently wasn't tested AT ALL ?!

Less than 100 people on fleet. It was 150-200 two weeks ago. The declining trend is certainly not slowing down.

Well some EA idiot saying that SW:TOR is no longer a developer priority isn't exactly helping either.

If this is not a sign enough to quit this sinking ship... I don't know what else can.

Ever seen an MMO being reinstated after being shut down?

There is your answer.

I would love to see Tabula Rasa being brought back online.  Ain't ever gonna happen!

Sorry tho, but if you race straight to the end, then practically every single player game from the last couple years can be finished under 12 hours! This included Mass Effect games, Elder Scrolls games (Skyrim included) and thus also Diablo III !

I managed to play over 5 hours yesterday and just finished killing the Skeleton King!

I just took a normal pace, explored every inch from the map, explored every available dungeon (crypt) in the first zone, collect as much blue gear as I could to break apart for crafting mats and craft some nice gear for myself.

All this already gave me over 5 hours enjoyment and I haven't even finished Act 1 yet!

Just like with Skyrim having hundreds of hours of content, but ofcourse you can all ignore that, just focus on the main storyline and race straight to the end and beat this game within 12 hours.

Each to their own I guess.

I don't see the point considering 1.3 isn't released yet.  Why not save these weekend passes for when new patches hit.  Seems a no brainer to me.

The weekend passes are for people who haven't tried the game, not previous subscribers wanting to check out new content.

@ the people going on about padding numbers, this has nothing to do with anything of the sort. It's just a common marketing technique to encourage more people to buy the game... same as any other game does with demos or free trials, in fact just as many products that have nothing to do with MMO's also do. Like or dislike the game some of the silly posts about it are laughable.

You can't possibly be defending this game.  Have you not read this thread http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4995564#4995564 yet?

That MMORPG.com hasn't picked up on this yet!  This is pretty major and pretty much seals SW:TOR's faith.

I knew it was going to happen this way.  The moment they removed Ilum. The moment they posponed rated warzones until further notice... people should have gotten the hint that it was over and done!

PVP won't ever be fixed, yet alone ever see those rated warzones going live!

The game has already been put on life support. Just look at the amount of time between updates! And no indication nor any real info regarding Patch 1.3 yet!

But knowing EA tho... I am pretty sure they try to quickly rush out at least one paid expansion as last quick cash grab.

If the login issues couldn't get any worse today.

Wait till you actually manage to get into the game, play for hours and then find out you didn't earn a single achievement.

Appearently the Achievement system is completely borked!

Blizzard has now acknowledged the issue! They better retro-actively fix this, or there will be a huge shitstorm for them, when people find out they have to start all over again lol.

I just killed the Skeleton King. Have no desire to recreate my Barb and do it all over again. :-/
