I must say I am a bit pissed. I mean, I pre-bought the game, meaning they already have my money. I was under the impression that involved beta playing, but beside the ~8 hours stress test I haven't seen anything. I would have assumed paying for a game before launch would at least give me access to a few beta weekends now.

And it does. As soon as they have another BWE, you'll be in. But, frankly speaking, you'd rather play in a mock BWE with little or no updates or in a BWE with new hardware, better patched and such?

Tbh I rather play a mock BWE than none at all, Sir.

Why don't they just come right out and call this "Ultimate Alliance: Online"?

"No one wants to create their own character......". Brian Michael Bendis.

There is no end of the anger I feel about such statements. In games in CoH and CO people spent HOURS every time just creating a new character! People loved doing just that!

Isn't this how it always goes... fire the little guy who's doing his job following orders lest he be fired while allowing the higher ups who are actually responsible for 'bad decisions' to keep their 'big pay' and move on to wreak newer titles?

Yeah, that's the sad thing about it all.

I want to apologize to all of you.

But I just can’t seem to stop having a great deal of fun playing SWTOR.  I’ve tried to be mainstream and hate it like the rest of you, but I have failed.  I simply love the game.

I just finished leveling my third character to 50 and couldn’t wait to start my 4th (Gunslinger baby!).

I promise I will double my efforts being a hater and do whatever it takes to not have fun playing.  I won’t disappoint you!

I do.

Eh? I don't get it.

First of all, I applaud the THOUGHT behind the legacy system.  I wish more developers would try to concentrate on the leveling process as well as the endgame process when adding content updates.  I don't have a problem with what BioWare was trying to do here.  Unfortunately, their execution was horrible.  Here's why:

BioWare has designed a game in which the main hook is the story.  They've rammed story down our throats.  Story this, story that...experience our story!  Now they've added in the Legacy System, which is designed to encourage players to roll alts, and experience MORE story.  Unforunately, they've forgotten one thing:  Replayability.  The game has none.  The class stories are the only thing that will change the second time through, and those only account for about 10% of the content.  Everything else is the exact same.  Same side quests in the same order.  Same planets in the same order.  Same flashpoints in the same order.

If BioWare truly wanted us to latch onto this legacy system, and latch onto the storylines, they would have created more planets for us to explore.  Alternate leveling paths, like WoW has.  Like Vanguard has.  Like LOTRO has.  Don't make us do the same exact thing over and over and over again just to experience a difference of 10% of the content.  It makes no sense.  They've boxed themselves into a corner with their own story, and it's basically been the downfall of the game.

I tend to agree. Replay value is really low, and I dislike this way too huge emphasis on story.

Yawn. Story... PR blah blah... never seen people talk so much without saying anything...

I've got a bad feeling about this.

SWG was better hands down. WAY better. Heck, it was probably the most fun MMO I ever played!

Already, you can read between the lines and see they're using the same cash-cow, money grab mentallity that killed SW:TOR.

Key terms to look for:

We want everyone to have a good 'gaming experiance' (which means it not a real mmo, nor single player). Trying to please everyone pleases no one.

"No Player Housing"

"PvP" (This should not be a 1st priority in TES)

etc,...

Another "cartoon" 'gaming experiance' is on its way.

I tend to agree. It feels like the same key phrases indeed. So sad. I mean, we know little, so I gonna wait and see. But it feels so like SWTOR 2.0

I'd say Rift, since it is newer, Trion adds always new stuff and it probably has more players.

and not just some story-hero among 1000s of other story-heroes!

Must be tough dealing with multi-player themes when you don't want them.

It's not the 1000s others that bother me, it's the narrowing down to being hero. And what good is a so called "personal story" when everyone around me has it?

No dream about a specific game that I've been anticipating comes to mind but I have vague recollections of one or two.

What is far more common for me is dreaming about games that I've been having marathon play sessions with. Dreaming about games that I already own and am thrashing is far more of a regular occurrence but they probably just worked their way into my head because I was spending too much time on them already.

That's the funny thing. I know I used to dream about WOW back then, because I played it like silly.

GW2 I only played half a day yet! Talking about anticipation. XD

Sage words, OP!

I too preach for years that PURE themeparks without ANY sandbox elements, like SWTOR, just can not function. NO amount of story can ever keep people busy long enough! I said that during the development of SWTOR time and again. I still don't understand why developers are so resisting sandbox elements like the goat against the rope.

Only a return to adding sandbox elements, the MMO genre can really return to good. And yes, despite the many flaws, I also loved SWG for what it offered. I never experienced such an alife world! Best MMO time I ever had.

Just speaking for myself, I am definitely NOT happy with the current pure themeparks which catch me just 3-4 months. That feels like a waste of time to me. I feel MMOs are way too narrowed down to killing. Anything games like UO and SWG had beside killing is almost entirely gone. It really can't be THAT difficult to add!

On top, modern games often just lack "soul" or "heart". SWTOR is again a bad example for this. Anyone remembers simple graphics games like Grandia II or Ultima V? THEY had heart and soul! And it's no rose tinted glasses, since I love such games still. Recent example? "To the moon" by Freebird Games: http://freebirdgames.com/to_the_moon/

It's a short, small game. But it is so full of soul, of dreams, of meaning! And it has totally simple graphics. That is what I mean, when I say, I am not a demaning locust player. I want something with substance, with feeling! And in a MMO I want to feel "at home", and not just some story-hero among 1000s of other story-heroes!

I rarely did, and I know my dreams pretty well. Last night I dreamed I was playing GW2! Sheesh. I really want to play it. Too bad, even for a pre-buyer no beta, only the rare open beta. *le sigh*

The only other game I ever dreamed to play was WOW. Go figure.

Did you ever dream to play a game? Or even dream to be in a game?
