Yes - this is a very fair review.
The game is a good concept game - but doesn't really work in practise.
Customer service from Lockpick is excellent though and I would not write them off for any other game they made.

Good review....I did a "first thoughts" review for a podcast some time back and my feelings were the same - although I only played the game for 1 month.

I felt the game couldn't be called an MMO as you come to expect MMO means lots of players playing at the same time together...and its not really like that at all.
Also the strongest element of the game was the Web Broswer as the Client was a very poor RTS game with really poor missions.

Also I got to a point where I was told by the developers that it would be best to start all over again (create a new patria) as I couldn't continue with the game as I couldn't kill any mobs that attacked me as they had too many HPs due to the way I had played the game.

I must admit and agree there is a lot of help in the forums from the developers and I would be interested to see what else they make as they are very customer friendly.

Personally I don't think its a bad review at all.
Its not too short if you compare this to something you would find in a magazine.
I think the score might be a little low when comparing to a few other recent MMORPG.com reviews...but not that far off really.
The problem as I see it is some of the other reveiws - for example the recent Dreamlords review
I think this got 7.6  - where as Lord of the Rings gets 7.8
Someone needs to play both games and tell me how did Dreamlords ever get 7.6 ?
Dreamlords is no better that a 5 out of 10 and personally I think Lord of the Rings is about a 8 to 8.5 out of 10
...but its all about opinions and I do respect the authors opinion here....where as the Dreamlords review was so bad.....(like 7/10 for roleplaying in a game you cannot really roleplay at all)
See for yourself how bad this is - www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setview/reviews/gameID/259/loadReview/51/from/%2Ffeatures%2Ecfm%2Fview%2Freviews

Thanks.

Lol - I just read that Dreamlords review - I have to agree

I personally agree with the targeting issue.
Also the mobs have no "Con" window as far as I can see - so you don't know if you have selected the correct mob or not.

Also the issue of players crowding the NPCs is something I noticed.
I have tried a few free to play games and I find it amazing the extremes some players go to trick other players out of in-game cash. ...and as its F2P - I assume there isn't too much GM support to stop them.

I must say that this review is pretty one sided.
I have played the game - and it wasn't for me.
Having said that  - I can see some people would like it.
I am not so bothered about the score of the review but the lack of negative comments....I have lost a little repect for the In-house reviews if this review is now the "standard"
Its like there is nothing wrong with the game...and I can tell you there ARE a few things that are wrong with the game.
Like calling it a MMO - its not much more than a Multiplayer RTS game with some MMO elements ( but nothing worth paying $15 per month for) - in my opinion.
and as said previously  - 7 for Roleplaying  - when the reviewers comments reflect a lower score ??  ( you can't even group up !)  - very odd.

Nice one....looks good.
Although this preview mentions the gods of Olympus ?
Isn't this Rome Rising ?
Not Greece Rising

I have now played the game again and feel that it is worth paying for but not really at the current price ...I think pehaps lower the price and add adverts in-game.
If I could pick a 6 month sub for £30 I would subscribe again.

Having played the game again I think its worth paying for but perhaps not £9 / $15 ...perhap £6 / $10
....and about SOE...the station access has now changed to $30 per month ..so they really are $OE (the station access price has increased by $8 in 10 months)...over 30% increase

Thank you so much for your very honest reply - (I was hoping you would....seeing some of your other posts.)
I must say that I have never been a PvPer really but if I was going to PvP in an MMO it would be something like this or EVE rather than a fantasy based game.

Hopefully see you in the Wastelands

I played AA last back in August
I played for about 6 weeks on and off
I liked the game but finally quit because I felt like I was playing a single player game and felt it wasn't worth the subs for a single player game.
Also I found most of the missions all too similar....and struggled to motivate myself to do them in the end.

I am thinking of coming back but I have these concerns.

1 - Are the missions all the same still or is there some variation ?
2 - If they are all the same what drives people to get to the higher levels ?
3 - Is the server busier now than back in August ?
4 - Is joining a Clan the way forward ? - will they help a new player or do clans only want high level players ?
5 - I assume that clan recruitment is advertisted via the AA forums ?

Thanks for any advice given.
