This game has tanked...least population I've seen in this game
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/26/12 11:35:10 PM
Sad to see, but I'm partly to blame because I left long ago and dont plan on rejoining. Yet my momory is that its a good game. I loved how the classes and races are so completly different. The Druid was so fun in combat. Hunter, Shaman, Necro, all different and fun.

Guild Wars 2 fans should play Rift until GW2 comes out, since its the closes MMO experience to GW2
General Discussion « Rift 1/26/12 11:30:33 PM
I hope GW2 is nothing like Rift. Rift was very well polished, I will give it that. But it got boring very quick, and the combat was so blah. The different combat abilitys all seemed the same, and I've never seen quest text that you just wanted to skip as quick as possible. Rift, while not bad, seemed to so similar to other games. Except the rift idea. GW2 looks like its going to gamble on alot of innovation and uniqueness, hopefully.

The Bounty Hunter.. a saving grace in SWTOR
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/24/11 8:36:53 PM
I guess I'm the odd one then. When I see the melee animations I get into it. The basic melee attack has VARIABLE animations. (not just swing from right side to left side). The sound effects are amazing with the singing and contact sounds, and the reaction of NPCs when struck, make it feel like your putting weight into your blow and it has a response. What MMO melee combat are you comparing it too thats better? AOC maybee.

is swtor mostly instanced or a persistent world where you can see other players?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/24/11 8:28:10 PM
I'm on my 6th planet, and I see people everywhere. I just arrived on the wide open Tatooine and I still see alot of population. I cant imagine anyone having problems finding a group, its just not possible, so the concern is unwaranted.

SWTOR an incredibly well made game
Reviews & Impressions « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/24/11 8:24:35 PM
I agree with the OP, and the combat is very very visceral. The hit contact feels real.

Cities and social hubs feel like libraries.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/15/11 8:54:52 AM
The sound thats in the game is really excellent I think. Music 100% Sound effects 100% Voice overs 100%
Although I understand the OP complaint, its a bit nick picky. Skyrim has the constant background npc chatter, but it gets old hearing "....and I took an arrow to the knee" every time I walk by a guard.

Character creation - still no improvement after months of beta feedback.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/15/11 8:48:32 AM
I like the game alot, but I have to agree that the CC is pretty sub-par. Below average. You would think if you were a developer with great resources your thinking would be "I'm going to kick butt in EVERY aspect of this game!". But some aspects are only average.

I got in those extra two days the OP was talking about. The demand for the game is going to be a huge undertaking initially and staggering the server load be weening in population is a great idea. Besides, if they promised the 20th. 6 more days and everyone is in.

I chose 4-6 months but could be alot longer. It depends on if Bioware improves the game and adds content.
Star Wars Galaxies had a real good template, and it seemed like every update made the game worse and worse and dumbed down etc.

Bethesda makes deal with Steam to get your MODS for Skyrim over there: Good or Bad?
General Gaming « General Discussion 12/02/11 11:03:03 AM
I think its ridiculous that you cant play a single player game on the PC, if you dont have an internet connection. I have a game called Alpha Protocal that constantly trys to verify a connection for security. To this day I have NEVER been able to play the game I payed for because I cant figure out how to get the dang thing to connect. Unbelievable. Battlefield 3 requires Origin to work. When my Origin connection is down, your out of luck. Now I play the heck out of Skyrim and have not had a problem with Steam. I downloaded a mod from a site, read the instructions a couple of times, and cant figure it out. So Moral of the story. I would be happy if Steam handled the mods, because it would be easy to figure out how to apply them. But in general, I hate the idea of a required internet connection to play single player games.

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/26/11 6:51:15 PM
Im enjoying the game right now. Is it perfect:? no. But its very good and has alot of potential. Some class storylines are better then others, but its got alot of quality. I think Bioware did a good job of keeping most people happy.

If all MMOs ever made, never had a Trinity system, the norm would become boring, and the "brand new mmo with a first ever Trinity system" would become the bomb. Whatevers new is cool, but we shouldnt ignore what works.

If they were to make a well thought out DAoC 2, it would do very well I think. I'm surprised to this day, that no MMO has repeated the successful formula that DAoC laid out in PvP. 3 very UNIQUE realms, fighting it out with castle building, etc. I enjoyed my time back in the day, but its dated now. Still, I wish them much success.

How fast can BW produce content?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/04/11 1:45:18 AM
I do worry about them producing enough quality content in a timely manor. Look at Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Origins. They made downloadable additional content, but what probably took them 3 months to make, was played in a half hour to 3 hours. Its just so time consuming and expensive. They have to, write the storyline, contact the art department, get it approved. Write the different responses of the player and figure out the consequences etc. Then contact the graphics department, then add in loot, see if its balanced. Then worry about adding questlines for 40 companion characters, and 8 character classes......then bring in the voice actors etc. May the force be with Bioware because they make awesome stuff. Hopefully George Lucas gives them 10X the budget and manpower.

Guild Wars 2 vs TOR Preview Comments
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/08/11 1:41:13 PM
Dont stir the pot man.
Its doesnt matter if someone prefers GW2. It doesnt matter if someone prefers TOR. It doesnt matter if some dislikes both games. It doesnt matter if someone loves both games.
I mean, do you argue with your friend that he shouldnt of ordered a Big Mac because you like the chicken sandwich better?
