Very commendable, keep it going!

Eventually got bored of GW2, so I went back to DC Universe Online and I'm really enjoying it again. 

I might get back to GW2 once they introduce the new matchup system, rankings, etc, altho I never liked the combat system in that game much, atleast not in pvp, so I doubt I'll go back...

Dungeons are exactly the way i imagined them after Anet announced there will be no trnity in the game. Think of it, what else can you do with a dungeon if you throw healer class out of the game? The game is completely tilted towards everyone being DPS, playing anything else is pretty pointless. So yeah, in short dungeons in GW2 are BAM BAM BAM, EVADE, DIE, GET RESED, BAM BAM BAM, RES YOUR TEAM MATE, WIN.

Boss fights are the same way. Every now and then, the boss let's out an attack that can 1-shot people. That attack is usually very predictable, but 1 or 2 people in the team usually get cought by it. So they die. And after the attack boss practicaly does nothing, so the game lets you res those people. 10 seconds after, the boss let's that attack out again. And the story repeats itself... bam bam bam, res, bam bam bam, res, bam bam bam win.

Also because there's no healing class, the only way to pass the dungeon is either doing it without anyone dieing (which is really hard) or just res zerging and corpse runing. I can't see how Anet thought their way is any more fun than puting a well constructed party together, that had to have the means to complete the dungeon, with players that do well in their class.

 

Oh well.

PS: Also I'd like to point out that GW1 elite dungeons were so so so much more fun and challanging, I can't even put it into right words...

Acutally OP, even the music in the link that you posted is from GW1, and yes GW1 had much more memorable music. That which is new in GW2 is far from being as memorable and touching as most stuff in GW1 was.

At the moment probably not, however I am pretty sure that eventualy Anet will make GW2 pvp pretty good, or even great. I say this because I've been playing GW1 for years and I know that Anet does work on their game alot, and i know they have some big things planed for GW2 pvp too. Hope they hold their word... What i would suggest to you is keeping on track with their PvP updates that will be coming pretty soon now, and decide for yourself if the direction they went is ok with you...

OP also made me smile, but he also made me feel sorry for him.

Oh, and no, GW2 will not die, take my word on that.

People farm two to three events only with an ocassional grenth or melandru (mostly it is ignored). All these events are on timer and people just go afk waiting for the timer to end.

Zerg starts from location of Plinx events (Fields Of Gold), if broodmother is up (since it is in same area) they kill it and then move on to penitent, once completed next stop is Shelter.

Then zerg stops, goes afk..waiting for Plinx event to start and rinse and repeat. To explain what i am talking about.

 

On my server all these three locations are simply referred to as 'Plinx train'. 

I was so disappointed but since i needed karma and make some gold i decided to follow. I did those for a day or two and got bored out of my mind. All other events on maps are ignored for two main reasons

 

1;) High cost of teleports from one waypoint to another.

2;) Contested waypoints which don't allow teleport or the nusiance of running through hordes of unded to reach your location.

 

So by doing this not only you save teleport costs but repair bills. Not to mention quick amount of gold you make by continuous farming of these three locations.

And since Plinx, Penitent and Shelter in close proximity and can be repeated every 10 to 15 minutes it is like being in merry go round. This kills whole 'dynamic' nature of zones and events.

Who is to blame here? players or bad design which encourages people to farm karma continuously within these three locations. Also since DR has been reduced recently and they are not actually staying in one locaiton and movig between three spots in close proximity, DR is not a problem.

I have decided not to ride this merry go round anymore and went back to PVP once again. its because of tactics like these which leads to nerfing of karma by Anet.

 

Players. And you yourself. No one told you you HAVE to follow the Phlinx train or whatever they call it. I'm also on Cursed Shore right now, mostly spending my time in pvp tho. I have been playing the game since pre-launch and only got to cursed shore with my only character just now. However I do not care what people are doing in the game, nor do i find it necesary to do it the way they do. I just explore every map to the fullest. I never use teleports, where ever i go i go there on foot, I do the events i run across before i get to my final destination. I find the game fun playing that way and that's the only way i care to play it. It would never cross my mind farming events in a circle just so i could get karma. I don't give a flying F*ck about karma nor gold. I play the game. That's it.

 

So if you find runing that event circle boring, why bother doing it? I don't understand...

 

Oh and another thing. In other MMOs there were people that would farm the same exact place 24/7. Not as many people seemed to be bothered by that... 

I'll give you a huge repsect for the music choice in the first video :)

 

As for healing builds. I hope they become more viable and more widely used in some new PvP format... However since friendly targeting is not possible atm, i kinda doubt we will ever see any heal system as in GW1, let alone the awesomeness of prot. monks :P

i guess you count those "tournaments" ? for premades which again u have to wait for what 9 more teams of five to join before it starts!?!? lol but yea i have no idea what i'm talking about soo... u should of stopped reading and moved along oh wait?? look above ;)

Yes, yet again you have no idea what you're talking about, because once you sign into tournaments you get into the game in a minute...

Seems to me that OP cares more about GW2 vs WoW (which only blind mislead hardcore fans of one or another game really care about) than his own dyslexia.

Leveling an alt feels like a 5 or 6.

Good game for the first playthrough but in my experience it falls off drastically at max level and on 2nd playthrough as DEs start to feel very repetitive and boring.

My ideal game is old school gen 1 Mmos like UO, EQ and AC - no quest indicators, no hand holding, slower paced game where death had some meaning, a bit of a sting. You know a game that actually would punish you and kick your ass big time and you loved every minute of it as when you finally figured out how to overcome the challenge you actually felt something.

newer games simply do not provide that kind of an experience anymore - it all feels like autopilot with nice eye candy but zero depth.

Could've given it 10 or atleast 9, If only ANet gave a flying fuck about sPvP... However as former GW1 player I am deeply disapointed by the lack of work and time they devoted to sPvP in GW2...

It's not about crying in fact  you have it all wrong. The cry babies are those that can't put effort into making their avatar stronger or better . The cry babies are the ones that want all classes to be balanced in all aspects and all gear of same type to have the same stats etc etc so it fair in pvp.

I'm sorry but i will not grind a dungeon becuase i want  my armor to match the color of my eyes or this one has spikes and that one doesn't, I will however grind a dungeon if it will give me better gear that will allow me to go pvp with a distinct advantage and make the "cry babies" cry . 

Acutally this thread and your way of thinking would suggest that the real "cry babies" are the people that  get trashed in GW2 pvp, because they do not have the gear advantage that they are used to have in other MMOs, even though they are playing the game much more than people that are owning them...

Not at all, those with skills and gear always win against those with skills and lesser gear thus endgame has an actual point.  I rather think those that are cry babaies are the ones that  don't want to putt any effort into staying competitive.  Think about it.

 

I don't think GW2 is a bad game it can be quite fun but i also don't think they designed the game so that poeple would stay but rather to play  in bursts, with extended periods of it sitting on your shelf collecting dust in between those bursts.

 

Mostly my post was to show the juvenile i quoted that  name calling can turn around and bite you in the  behind.

 

Heh one thing I see posted often is that the point of GW2 is to have fun. The thing about having fun is that "fun" isn't the same for all. So what we have here is one group calling the other group "whiners" and "cry babies" becuase their idea of fun is different and that is well silly.

The truth is both  views can be correct it just depends on which side you are viewing it from and then there those like me that can see both sides.

Well the real problem of most MMOs is that those with good gear and no skill win against those with skill and bad gear.

 

Or in other words, someone that invests 16 hours per day for playing will be the strongest, and someone that only has time to play 2-3 hours per day will be completely incompoetitive against him regardless of skill, so it's better to just quit playing...

 

Some of us have jobs, but would still like to enjoy a true competitive game where skill counts more than gear, where I don't get flamed by a kid that can play all night long and feels awesome about himself when he one-shots me with his wtfUberEpicLegendaryFierySwordOfNo-Life.

The cry babies are the ones that want all classes to be balanced in all aspects and all gear of same type to have the same stats etc etc so it fair in pvp.

I'm sorry but i will not grind a dungeon becuase i want  my armor to match the color of my eyes or this one has spikes and that one doesn't, I will however grind a dungeon if it will give me better gear that will allow me to go pvp with a distinct advantage and make the "cry babies" cry . 

Acutally this thread and your way of thinking would suggest that the real "cry babies" are the people that  get trashed in GW2 pvp, because they do not have the gear advantage that they are used to have in other MMOs, even though they are playing the game much more than people that are owning them...

True. There is no real Guild v Guild competition in the game atm. GW1 was much stronger in this. Altho they are promising a new sPvP format that would look more like GvG in GW1...

That's probably what you're gonna have to settle with if you're gonna keep playing GW2...

 If you've played WoW for many years and your just used to how the game feels and run... then this game isn't for you. If you want a challang In a game then vangaurd is awesome. Yes its one of those game you have to read everything and the Vet thats still playing the game are cool as hell. Most go out of there way to help you get used to the game because Vanguard has a Big learning curve. I've beta tested the game way back when...but things have changed the game still has bugs. If you look past those small bugs its an awesome world to be in. Its one of those love hate thing. lol so please don't burn me with fire lol.

In the end i still hate SoE...But i'll still play vanguard thats how good vanguard. lol

Exactly. SOE had a couple of good games on their hands but they ruined them all with their greed.  [mod edit]

I wouldn't mind but it doesn't go eye to eye with Anet's phylosophy around which this game was built, and thus I tink it will never happen...
