I think this can reversed.... I think that everybody who loves this original game DDO has the right, and MUST tell his community that he spent his money well on such a great game... even if it's a forum or a group it's still a community, and if we love something we should say "It Rocks" especially all the free updates and modules! |

Jeddak, very well said. If there is a statement to "Sticky" on the forums, I would make this one of them. Its to bad that most who continue to "flame" DDO will never understand the various points you made. I would encourage all those who felt it was missing all the "extra features" to check out DDO again with Module 3 in place.

Sorry to hear it took so long for you. Took no more than 4 hours for me to patch from a fresh install so I guess I don't understand where your coming from. As far as DDO and Mod 3 not mixing.... not quite sure I understand what you mean. I have had situations far worse then DDO in terms of patching and time. |

The difference at hand, and I have said this to many of my friends in various level based games, is that you stay connected. In UO, at any moment, anytime of day, at any skill level I could also go out and adventure with my guildmates regardless! I never had to worry if I was the same level or near a certain level, everyone pitched in no matter how effective they were. In every level based game I have played, I continue to get further and further behind from my friends and less conected. Its not like the days ago, back before I was married and no kids... but then again I am not a kid like most here who have the time. The skill based system made sense too. The more you do something, the better you are at it. I have never in my life all of a sudden got infinate wisdom to unlocking the powers of video editing because I ground my way through graphic design. Bad example but gives you an idea of how unrealistic level based games are. *rant* I miss the old UO, back before the "l33t" ganking festival thats now present. People don't understand what PvP really is and today its being thrown around as a selling point for most MMO's. The PvP people seem to want today is a FPS PvP, just mindless whacking people, but with swords... in UO there was PvP, but it had a more dignified purpose, and wasn't thought of the way we think of it today. *end old guy rant* |

I would have to disagree because there are many things that DDO offers that GW does not. In Guild Wars you have to select the target and then "commence the button pushing game"! In DDO you have to actually move around to hit your target and aim, click and then also be conscious of the severaal spells and other things you could use as well. There is much more thought and planning involved IMO. I also have not seen GW implement any sort of Voice Technology either. Actually the only thing I can see that is similar is the use of instancing. DDO is unqiue in several ways, and comparing it to other games is sadly a waste of time. DDO is very unqiue in several aspects. I have noticed so many who flame DDO, but sadly I look back and grin. Most play it like any "grind" MMO, and then become infuriated that it didn't play the way "they" expected it to. Simply put its not your run of the mill MMO. I have enjoyed PnP for many years now and was excited to see how it could be made into a game. I think they did the best they could considering DnD truely cannot be imitated or coded. Real DnD can never be truely recreated, it takes the intellengece and creativity of a true DM to make this happen. If you were expecting more than what you recieved, you are sadly pushing your expectations beyond what anyone (i.e. Blizzard, SOE, Mythic, NCSoft......) could recreate. |

WoW will most likely be your best developed "native" Mac game. With the new macintoshes that run the intel processor can now either run Boot Camp and load into Windows to run any MMO you wish, or you could try to see if Parallels with work for gaming as well.
There are a few older games as well that run on the macintosh, but most do not support OS X well. WoW, good or bad, depending on your take will be your best option. |
