Population isn't terrible... but the community is unbearable. I just resubbed today and regret every penny that was spent. I enjoy the game, but I'm not playing an MMO where I need to put almost the whole community on IGNORE...

While I have yet to purchase the game (played the trial and the 10 day comeback) if I had the money to shell out for a new MMO this would be the only one on my shopping list. This is the only MMO that I can honestly say has kept me interested and have found to be unique in its genre. I was not sure whether or not I would have enjoyed the quests as I was looking for a pure sandbox, but found FE to be a pleasent compromise between the two. I have yet to find myself bored to tears, and enjoy the feeling of freedom to my adventure. If your on the fence about FE I would highly recommend giving it a shot. It may be the only game that will keep me from my all-time favorites: EVE and Ryzom. |

What MMO allows you to live as a crafter with VERY little combat?

Alot of good suggestions listed here in this thread, but wanted to add another suggestion. Check out Ryzom. |

No in Ryzom you cannot jump, though you can swim. There also is an emote that gives your character the visible appearance of jumping. Otherwise the game has little use for jumping and in some cases is nice to not see 30 or so "kiddies" jumping around like a bunch of idiots. |

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Coming to Mac's This Fall

Now if you actually used a Mac you'd be more than surprised at its cross-platform compatibility. In fact a Mac can run multiple operating systems including Windows, while no other machine can run OS X legally. Also in regards to price, it has also been shown in various avenues that a Mac can be just as expensive if not cheaper than a comparable PC with like parts. Can you build a cheaper computer yourself? Yes of course, but its not a Mac. I work on both platforms at work and they both have their pro's and con's. To be this blantently ignorant of technology just saddens me to see peoples perception of value to that of price rather than quality. As far as the Mac client goes, I am glad to see them finally come out with a compatible client. If the economy ever turns around and I can afford a monthly sub I most likely will pick the game back up. |

Macs are way over priced a PC can do anything a mac can do plus play all the latest games. If you know anything about computers and viruses you can have a PC and never get one, Ive been virus free for years now.
IMHO Macs are a ripoff you can build a PC with the same specs as a mac for less. I use music programs , I know people who edit and encode video and even do live djing with traktor live all on a PC and it works flawlessly. I really don't see why everyone uses a mac, I guess they are rich and have money to do so.
But hey if your really want a mac then go for it, don't let me stop you. Sometimes computer purchases aren't just clearly about the money/savings etc. In many cases if specced pound for pound, you can get a MAC for less than most PC counterparts. Granted you can build a great gaming machine for less if you know where and what to get. Personally I own both, as well as work on both. The MAC will continue to get my money as it has a solid design, current hardware and the ability to run both Windows and OS X. The MAC gives me in a sense 2 computers for the price of one, not to mention OS X and the (free) software that accompanies it. Not every gamer just games, and not all work is done in a PC environment. They both have their uses and they both can do just about what the other can as well. I find a higher value in MAC's and thats why I buy them. As for the OP, the MAC should be able to handle most MMORPG's assuming you run them in Bootcamp. Parallels is nice and I use it here at work, but I have yet to play a game that works within that virtualization software. There are some AAA MMORPG's that work for the MAC like EVE and City of Hero's which are native clients and don't require Windows. Also with services like Gaikai coming out, the whole platform dependencies will be a thing of the past and something to look forward to. |

It's called beta... you test parts of it first, then more parts later. The game has not been 100% revealed as of yet... calm down before you jump off the wagon. |

COSMOS (social networking) coming in Winter expansion
Jita (General) « EVE Online 7/21/09 10:53:18 PM
While for the most part have enjoyed EVE's expansions... I was really hoping they'd be putting their best foot forward with Ambulation than a web project of this nature. I would see this as a welcomed addition AFTERWARDS in terms of ambulation but a priority I think not. Either way it will be a nice addition but now what I think a majority of customers were looking forward to. |

General: Massey: The Myth of Role-Playing Servers
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/10/09 9:16:59 AM
I have very little to add as most have already covered the various issues with this article in so many posts. This was one of the worst articles filled to the brim with so many "mistruths" its utterly amazing it was even published. This article does a disservice to not only the roleplaying community but the credibility of the writer and MMORPG.com |

What do you guys think was the biggest let down in mmorpg history?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/22/09 8:58:19 AM
How most current MMO communities focus primarily on solo play as well as PvP, and shy away from aspects that once made this genre great. I could take almost any game on the market and throw in an old-school UO or Ryzom community and would be content regardless of the games structure or status. Aside from this, the decision to scrap UO2 was my personal biggest let-down.

It enlarged the base, drawing in casual players that didn't play MMORPGs before. F2P does the same thing, draw in lots of players that can't play a P2P game because they don't have the money for the monthly fee, and that in turn draws the players that like to be on top, and have these poor people under them. I don't think that model appeals to the P2P gamer that is looking for a totally different experience. Exactly what this gentlemen said. |

Even with Free Realms you have to download something and store it somewhere, that and it only works on PC's. I wish I had a better solution or even an answer but at the moment nothing spectacular comes to mind. |

Vanguard. For me out of several games I have played, it offered the best feeling or captured that feeling best. |

Waiting for someone to say it looks better than Darkfall. |

Chalk me up for the option "Never to Not for a long time". I hate it when I "enter" to soon too, makes the wife upset everytime I post. |

Your choice... start now with 800K skill points or as forementioned here, start later with only 50K skill points but a training time bonus. I dunno but it seems like starting now would benefit you more so than starting out later. The new tutorial may help you build your character better, but I didn't feel that the skills given in the prior creation were that far off. |
