there is nothing at all planned for any classic server. they are discussing having another progression type server but nothing concrete at all just in talks.

ha they deleted my first question as it wasnt candy coated. its funny though, one of the questions was a long one and about a second later the dev answered with a long answer. fast typer, like 500 wps. seems mmorpg.com is allowing the devs to choose the "safer" questions and have their answered planned out ahead of time....

Very similar to Shadowbane but with a SHIT ton more PvE content and a MUCH MUCH better economy system/engine.

The zerg/lag is yet to come. Hopefully these guys prepped for that better than Wolf Pack/UBi did.

im sorry but i doubt that potbs pvp will be even remotely close to that of shadowbane. hell has pvp even been tested at all yet for potbs? i mean the port sieges and battles? once they put the pvp in the game they will be spending the next year or two balancing it. cant do that over night. hell even wow is still balancing pvp. so for potbs to have a great pvp side of things they better get the testing done right before dumping it on live...oh ya btw its so easy to see who is a shill and who is not eh??

i think alot of people that were supposed to be playing today are waiting on their mail to arrive. guess SOE screwed up with shipping out the goods in a timely fashion...now theres a surprise

actually, im not a swg fan before or after CU. i play eq, eq 2, and even vangaurd, so please take that generic response and place it else where. i enjoy some of the games not the damn corp and their shady practices.  i could care less about what soe did with swg, i dont hold any grudges against soe for what they did. just not my business since i dont play or even liked star wars so..im just a paying subscriber who dont like to be fed from the dog dish. it dont matter if it is sony, hitachi, or bloody general motors. if a company likes to scam and are completely dishonest to customers over and over again for years now well its just plain common sense to see the bs that comes from corps that are just there for the $$$. so take your shill self and move back to the SOE boards thanks

only thing i would ask is when the hell they are gonna fix this crashing problem.  they have no clue. instead of coming to the forums here to try and recruit more people to play how about these devs spend their time fixing their damn game???

I quit just after SoF, only a few weeks ago. This is what's currently actually wrong with the game, and they don't intend to fix this.

 

-The servers crash daily, multiple times a day. Not one MMO I've played has this. It's unbelieveble some people still tolerate it. This has been going on for over 7 months now I think. -They way they do beta is the most unprofessional thing I've seen. There's no words to discribe it fully, they just throw out a beta full of bugs and let people fix it during beta. When the expansion is actually released it will STILL be full of bugs.

actually, i still play this game. im on the Stromm server so i cannot speak for any other.  im not a raider or a hacker. I can tell you this though, much of what the OP says is true. everything about the crashes is a major part of eq today. it is widely known that there are ways of crashing the server to get the named mobs to respawn after server comes back up.  SOF brought in tons of mobs that have some sweet loot that can be kited solo and or done with just a group.

lets take the warped steel armor set from SOF. each piece sells for about 500k plat each. i believe this is tier 3 armor. groupable. to upgrade tier 3 to tier 4, the item needed is groupable. of course thats the plat sellers with those prices though not all but its easy to see this. now that SOE has stated that they are in support of that RMT crap i wouldnt be surprised at all if SOE actually had something to do with all of this allowing the plat farmers to get what they need in turn SOE im sure would get their cut. conspiracy theories? maybe so. can tell you this though its is ruining eq as we speak.

the patches that have been coming out have been garbage. those asian grindfest games have been doing much better with their patching then SOE. If you want to make an expansion pack last a year, best thing to do is keep people crashing and rolling back for half of that. which is exactly what is going on. roll back after roll back. Not fun what so ever. as well haning out in the GL for most of your play time due to there not being enough people to get a steady group. sucks really. i still am playing it though cause we have crap to choose from with MMOs and i refuse to play that MCdonalds of a game WOW. been there, done that and its just garbage.

now when AOC comes this game will be history for me as well as for many other people that are currently playing. soon it will be the plat farmers and GMs playing eq and the odd newb that still has no clue. im sure people will reutrn to check it out again but doubt would resub after that first 30 days.hell even the raiders are dropping out of this game at a steady pace. most of the SOF raid material is so messed up its not worth doing. there are still many raiders out there but before any new xpack comes out im sure most will be gone. this game is really on its last legs and SOE knows this, hence trying to squeeze what they can out of their player base through RMT. anyways dont be disregarding with the OP has to say less you are a SOE shill which there seems to be more shills then actuall SOE game players rofl....

when i started this game a year ago, i didnt know anyone what so ever. i manage to hit lvl 75 with 31 days play time. now if you cannot find a group, dont sit in GL crying about it. get out ther hit up a hotzone and start your own group cause in the /lfg there are always people looking. it appears most of the whiners wont take it upon themselves to start a group. if you are a newb and want to play this game, just remember dont cry when you cannot find a group if you have not even tried starting your own. from lvl 20 to 65 i ran all the groups. always had a flow of people ready to join up when someone leaves. that is part of the problem with no groups. too many people waiting for the next person to start one. so cannot blame SOE on this part completely as the players have a roll in that. as for the rest of the crap IE. crashes, rollbacks and hacking are on SOE.

For the casual readers, my adivce?  Try the game.  You won't be disappointed.  It's not the holy grail of games (one hasn't been invented yet), but it's a great game with a ton to do.  It is like debating whether to go to out to a resturant, there is a place called Joey Bob's down the road, and there is an Outback Steakhouse.  Outback is quality, pretty good food that you know you can trust your expectations enough to try without much doubt.  Joey Bob's?  Might be ok, might even be good, but who really knows?  It might make you sick.  You might find only goat on the menu.  EQII is a mainstay.  It is an Outback (or Applebees or any other major franchise).  Joey Bob's are everywhere too, but they disappoint more folks then they don't.   That's all you really need to know.

what gets me about some of these games is they use the "free expansion" thing as marketing ploy. seriously, they get rid of the term patch/update and call it an expansion. a free one at that, mean while the content they are adding should of been in the game when released...oh well..

this is why i have 500gb once a game is installed if i want to keep it, i copy it to another directory (not on C) that way if i have to format all the games i like are still there, dont have to worry about these things. pretty much my gaming directory is using 100gb give or take a few gb. saves alot of hassle and time. if i feel like switching up my mmo's i dont need to go through too much patching, depending on the last time i played. but patching a mmo from start after its been out a year or more sucks when i start to get that jonesing feeling for a certain one.

but with your problem, can you install in safe mode with network at all? never tried it, so not sure if that would work, but in safe mode you have to log in as admin. could very well be that something loading at startup whether that be and exe or a dll, could be the problem here.

i would appreciate a trial key please. have not played since beta so would be cool to see what has change over the years. pm it to me if you can. thanks
