Aion has been out in Asia for quite some time now. It's been doing great and it's slowly replacing L2 and other older MMO. It's new in America and that's all.

Aion is not going to fail, I can promise that and I'm not an AION player at all lol.

There are PLENTY of Crafting/scavenging Quests. You just have to do the right chains and find them. Remember, you wanted a sandbox game and in a sandbox game, there is no hand holding.

I'd say half of my levels came from combat quests, the other came from crafting/scavenging quests.

End of discussion. lol

your reply pretty much kill the sandbox sentence

Why? Cause you quest?

It's not EVE. Skills don't train in real time. I don't play EVE for that very reason.

You can start FE in 6yrs and with enough time and dedication, you could smash people who started in pre-Launch. Same can't be said for EVE. That mechanic is a double edged sword, it allows for a much more open game but at the same time detours alot of people away.

EVE's a great game though. Don't take this reply as meaning that I think it's bad. I have reactivated my EVE account at least 7 or 8 times since launch.

You are completely wrong.

Let’s say you started today and decided to fly assault frigates. So for 1 month you train all your primary and sub skills to V and bang, you’re ready to fight.

So you decide to have a fight against me in the exact same ship and all. (just to make it extremely fair)

Well guess what, even if I have 40 million skillpoints, it doesn’t matter. I am only using a few of my skills to pilot the assault frigate. Eevn if I have Doomsday device and dreadnaughts technology at my disposal, in my Assault frigate, it won’t matter. You’ll be an equal match to me and perhaps I’ll have a few 5% here and there over you but that’s rarely enough to make a huge difference. I’ll probably kill you by experience and knowledge but that’s something you’ll learn as you play.

The only difference between me and a more advance player is the fact that he can probably fly more ships then me. I can fly every Gallente ships except the Dread and Titan and that’s by choice.

I’ve seen 3 months old players kicking ass in PVP (group/solo). That’s the beauty of the game, a 1 day old player can completely turn a battle around if he’s well guided by a fleet commander.

YOu can have quests in a sandbox. As long as the player is not forced to do them, then by all mean... it is a sandbox.

SWG had quest series for Jabba and other theme park.. You didn't have to do them but they were linear and SWG was a sandbox.

Sandbox doesn't mean no storyline and such... EVE is the most advance sandbox and it has EPIC quests :O

Warning.

EU and  other non USA  IPs are blocked :(

Just be patient, EU usualy gets the titles a bit later. Nexon always have to negociate certain rights with a bunch of countries in EU.

It's not their fault if you guys are all complicated and all.

If you're a fan of Fallout then Fallen Earth is worth the try. I can't comment more on the that since I only played a few hours but it's not a bad game at all!

Aion is an amazing game as well but it's nothing new so... I say Fallen Earth!

Darkfall believes to be hardcore for the simple fact that you can attack and kill anyone, anywhere. However, losing a sword is not really a big deal and losing 3000 arrows hurts but it’s not a big deal. It doesn’t compare to losing a full fledge Navy Megathron equip with tech 2 rigs, faction fits and such… And for most really advance players, that’s nothing.

Darkfall is great but it’s nothing that special as well. It’s hardcore but being an EVE player since beta, Darkfall is the equivalence of flying a battleship alone in 0.0… it’s dangerous and you’ll probably die but in the end who cares, a battleship is just a tech 1 ship.

If you want to play EVE, join a strong alliance and be part of the world. Don’t wander in Empire space, you’ll just waste your time. Make your muscles in Empire… do some missions, learn to play but when it’s time to really discover EVE, join a 0.0 mega corp.

I'm not actually saying that Darkfall is bad, it's actually a great game but it's nothing near EVE. The scale is completely different. One is a simulation while the other one is a Fantasy that simply decided to allow ganking. Sure EVE has Empire space to keep pirates at bay but trust me, You'll die in Empire space... Empire has a lot of drawbacks such as laws. It's not the best place to live but it's safer until you can be on pare with other players.

If you want to try out one of the better alliance, pm me and I’ll give you the right contacts.

Gaming is much more important in Korea then in here. The number one starcraft player lives there and he’s living like a pro there. Like a real star and all. The kid was a nerd back in Montreal lol.

Anyway, I think most people simply just hate asians for what it is.

The culture in asia is about constant evolution and even if it’s bad, we will still try to strive and keep on trying until we make a major leap. However, thanks to this mentality, Korea is fully installed on optic fiber, which means, much better games at times.

The culture here in the west is; if it’s good, we sit on it until the next giant leap. The drawback is that we can sometimes make the wrong giant leap. We like to use the word “When it’s ready” as a sign of quality. Western culture is a bit more lazy but with good reasons, we had it good for a long time here. So until the next giant leap, Asia itself will slowly surpass the west.

The biggest issue here, is that many people can’t stand the fact that a “non” white country is much more advance.

read 1434 and see for yourself.

The only thing that’s a bit harsh about Co-op games or MMOs is that you don’t get to always control your enviroment. You often end up grouping with someone that is not compatible with you. Class, stats, attitude… you name it.

Not everyone is lucky with a 10 year old clan, a ventrilo setup with a bunch of dedicated T1 servers at their disposal. My clan is lucky and co-op games are much more fun due to this very well maintain enviroment, payed and paved with good ethics for the last 10 years. Name any co-op game and we can have a blast on it. Neverwinter Nights 2 to DOOM 2 co-op… or Ghost Recon, diablo 2… whatever!

Our ventrilo always have 15 to 30 mature people, carefully selected by the crew. We get maybe one new member per 6 month?

Now take Left 4 Dead and click on find a quick game…

Yeah… you’ll probably end up in a troll fest 9 out of 10 times. unfortunately, that's the reality in every games on any server and such.

Yeah, everyone as gamers tend to grab a title for themselves. I’m an EVE player, I’m a WOW player, I’m a Darkfall player and so on. With each title, comes the background and stereotype behind.

I know when someone bashes my favorit game, I often want to immediately jump back and reply.

Greed104 is right though, if you dislike something, just shut up about it. There is nothing constructive about disliking something. The devs won’t change the game for you, nor will the game ever become better when you post the reasons behind your dislike. If you dislike the game, just walk away and find another one that you like. As I said twice, people associate themselves to a game and that’s natural. Saying that you dislike their game means that you dislike them and there is no other way to put it.

People believe that they’re being constructive about it but seriously, they’re not. I personaly enjoyed Darkfall for the time I’ve played it. After a series of event, I left the game and do not like the game anymore. Which also means, that I don’t visit the forums nor post about it anymore. However, go look at the forum right now and you’ll notice that most forum wars are from non-playing members lol

Sony was like that a while back. When I tried to Cancel Vanguard.. I was stuck on their page and stuff like that. So what I did was to lock my Credit Card the night the bill would come around. Which would bounce and then close my sub lol.

Not the best trick but it worked lol

First of all don't be a hater in this topic. Well I never wanted to get into Halo back in the day until my dad picked it up and we started playing Co-Op. I feel in love with Halo and it's multiplayer. Then Halo PC's multiplayer. When Halo 2 came out something just didn't feel right about multiplayer (small maps and no epic battles), yet it still had the foundation me and my dad enjoyed. Co-Op. Halo 3, great mutiplayer yet still riddled with small maps so I didn't focus too much time there. I loved the multiplayer, but why the hell does the brotha of the whole game had to die at the end. BULL.

Now here is ODST and I see the E3 stuff if it and why do I feel like this is the same game, but with health packs or something? Modern Warfare 2 already got my money, but it's something in me that just dosen't want me to invest money into ODST and this is the first time I ever had a type of gut feeling about a Halo game. I do want to hear the story of the ODST, but then again I'm not all to sure. How do yall feel about ODST?

HALO is overated and I'm glad that it's slowly fading. Halo was nice when it came out but it feels like a big Hollywood production with no depth. A bit different from games such as, STALKER or Farcry, Crysis and such...

Wait wait wait!

Rap is the downfall of humanity! :P

jk jk!

Blame the idiot parents and no one else. It’s all about pointing fingers and that’s all people seem to be doing except pointing it at themselves.. Back in asia, when my dad was young, he was dreaming about the ancient chinese warriors. Him and his buddies would fight with sticks and wooden swords dreaming about decapitating their foe and all. Today, he’s far from a murderer, he was a doctor for a long time.

American kids would be playing indian and cowboys and let’s not forget that rape, incest, murder with a gun, gun duels, bank robbing and other not so “right” behaviours. Most of them turned alright.

While video don’t actually leave room for imagination, I think it calms down many individual and if parents cannot monitor their kids, then that’s where the problem is. It’s not hard to carefully watch over them and explain them that, what they play, is a game and yada yada… if the kid cannot see it, then by all means, stop letting him freely play these types of games.

I’ve been a hardcore PVPer, Internet Asshole and FPS player since my early teens. I’ve never hurted anyone in RL nor have I seen any of my friends actively doing a Mortal Kombat finish move on someone. Reality is a tragedy for some but without any guidance, god knows what’s in their mind.

If you want a fair example of human stupidy over the internet/video games then just look at how a 45 year old mom/dad start’s crying on Ventrilo over an EPIC LOOT. Now ask yourself, what kind of kid are they raising?

True Story

Silly Aussies.

Think again, Blizzard has updated and revamped their engine on several occassion. Alpha WOW versus Beta Verus Vanilla, Versus Today... All had improvements. Forget about a new engine though.

That’s just my luck =(

My two favorit Sci-Fi are Dune and Stargate.

Dune: Generation was cancelled due to bankrupt
Stargate looks like it’s going to follow the same path

Headshot me now!

Everyone wants to be a star, an exclusivity, a legend among the communities. Everyone wants a game to be their game but few  have the knowledge to actually make one.

I think that it’s time to change the dynamics between a customer and a company. Right now, the interaction between these two are generaly lacking and non-functional.

You can’t really compare EVE with Darkfall.

EvE is basicaly 6 years old and that means 6 years of polish. Darkfall is not even one years old. (yes yes, 10 years of devellopement)

EVE has no cookie cutter builds and whatever you want to be, you can be. In EVE, if properly prepared, a 2 week old pilot can turn around the odds of a large scale operation of 300 versus 300. My alliance can spit out Titans and Dreadnaughts like it could be nothing and yet, you’ll see a lot of T1 Frigates and Cruisers in our fleet setups. There is no level 100 weapons. You can use a T2 weapon or you can sacrifice some DPS for better tanking or whatever you may need.

The SOV system and Darkfall City control is completely different and the impact of controling a system has significant impact on your whole alliance. You can build Jump bridge, it might be a bottleneck system or a gateway from empire to 0.0, you might use this system for it’s resource and build capital ships, it might be the only a border system between you and your arch enemie. I am skipping the list here but trying to compare the control of a Darkfall city and an EVE system is two different things. Both are great but the level of impact they have are far apart. Darkfall cities means that you have a few private resource nods, a little cool spawn near home and the crafting stations at your disposal. It doesn't matter which city you have, that's what you get in MOST situation.

Fair enough, 30 day skills suck… However, nothing forces you to train these skills and the advatange you’ll have are often barely noticeable. I’m an old player and I have never trained Dreadnaughts and motherships. I don’t think I’ll ever do it. I’m much more happy in flying my fast little interceptors during a fleet operation. Without interceptors, the big powerfull ships are extremely vulnerable to certain setups and attack. However, I am maxed out in every gallente and amarr skills and I can fly pretty much any ships up to Carriers T1, including the T3 ships.

Darkfall on the other hand offers a more dynamic way of becoming stronger but you quickly find out that it’s all the same thing and that only a few special item are extremely dominant in PVP. If you have better skills and higher ranked weapons, your pretty much the one that will win the fight. Exceptions exist of course. In EVE, exceptions are a bit rarer. you might have a good setup but then someone will know how to counter your ship and exploit the weakness of your “ultimate” fit.

I’ve destroyed faction fitted battleships with T1 Battlecruisers with basic modules and it was all thanks to a little electronic warfare module here, a bit of speed there and perhaps the right damage type with the right drones. Also keep in mind that having a level 4 skill versus a level 5 skill is often only a 5% difference. So your gun will hit me for 105 damage while I’ll hit you for 100 damage… fair enough, now what happens if I have the ammo to close in your angular velocity and you don’t? You won’t be doing much if you can’t hit me.

As the theme implied, Darkfall occurs on one continent, EVE occurs on more then 10 000 system (including wormhole space)

Both games have similar ideas but the scale and complexity of EVE crushes Darkfall. Even if you remove all the empty space and crush every hand made zones together, it’s still going to take your years to explore it all.

Darkfall is a sandbox and that doesn’t need any further clarification. The game doesn’t put you on any specific path. However, is it the best sandbox ever made? Of course not… is it lacking in many situation? Yes it is.

The grey area is that Darkfall doesn’t tell you to do A or B but if you choose A, then it forces you down a certain path and there’s no way to get around it. The same goes for B.

You can’t just walk up and make a city in Darkfall, you need to take over a predefined city and control it. You can have a house with all the furnitures and all but it’s only for a certain area on the map and such.

Things like that do play a role against the actual “Sandbox” definition but as I said earlier, you are free to ignore player cities and go on your merry way, doing whatever you feel like.
