For a Free MMO, this is quite a suprising game.
I made a Hunter and played him until level 20. The quest system is not that bad, it's pretty much like World of Warcraft where you gather stuff, kill a certain amount of mobs or then again, bring a package to someone. The graphics are cute and the game is not that all buggy, the devs are doing a good job at fixing the issues per day. If you have a few buddies to play with, then it's a good time waster. The quests are not actually interesting but short enough for a casual player. The class system is nice but it's a bit sad to see that no matter what they say, you cannot build a character the way you might want. If you do not copy a solid template then your character will be weak and wasted. I expected the sea to better then what it is at the moment. This is maybe the beta but still, the sea was really something I was looking for. Sadly, you have nothing to do on the sea except grinding and travelling from one island to another. I could be wrong... (I hope I am) I haven't tried crafting something but from what I am seing, it's pretty decent. Don't expect the same depth as SWG or DAOC though. The game is based on Grinding but for some reason, I had alot of fun with my Hunter. The most silly part of the game is: Each class is specific to a gender/race. So a female character can be a healer while a male cannot >_< If you have nothing to play, this is not a bad download :) |

From what I've seen witch is not much! I have fate in the devs. Using the D3 engine is really a good idea and no DOOM 3 doest not only make FPS games :)
Lineage 2 is based on the Unreal engine! I'll blindly play SG for at least one reason: To Dial a gate address and then stick my face into :D!!!! Then get killed by gate campers or any dangerous aliens on the other side...... jk! |

General: Editorial: What's Next for EA Mythic?
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/22/06 1:47:31 AM
EnB was a good MMO and the storyline was amazing but the lack of content and PVP was killing it at the same time. EVE is superior in terms of how the game is flexible for a player. Solid MMOs are the ones that provide tools for the community to evolve. Guild Halls, Player cities, flexible characters and such are always a good direction for any MMO out there.
Something interesting that EA should actually look into is... the Command and Conquer Franchise. I'm sure they know about the 1998 MMO known as Mankind.. www.mankind.net CnC could actually explore that path. |
