Looking for open world PvP? Go to the Dune sea!

Originally posted by DarkPony When I select a player of the same faction beneath their picture on the right it tells me their level (I think?) when I select the enemy it does not. Either that or you need to mouse over the pic to get that info and in the middle of combat that isn't a big priority, I just do my best and see if he dies before me!

Down for maintenance. 1.0.1. PTR Patch notes

They need to fix Jarros padawan on the last mission for the great hunt (BH), even after she dies she still heals her master so you have to either cc her or kill her then drag him to the other end of the command deck and finish him there. It's just a lousy bug if you don't know about it before hand. |

Looking for open world PvP? Go to the Dune sea!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/27/11 4:11:59 AM
I'm playing my main on an RP-PvP server and up until now I've seen the odd Rep fly past on a speeder as I was flying past him and nothing happened. It seemed that other than the PvP zones and warzones there wasn't anything happening ..... until today! So I'm out in the Dune sea which for your information is a massive open area with no paths or invisible walls. Imagine Tatooine in SWG only proffesionaly done with good graphics and no rubber banding and you are close to it. I'm talking to an NPC (think you must be immune when in a conversation) after the conversation ends I get a grenade in the back or something and turn to see a trooper and his companion running down a massive sand dune at me. In short I WTF PWNED him! Not due to my superior skills *tongue in cheek* but thanks to the fact I'm level 35 and just tieing up some loose ends on the planet. I'd like to add that you can't see the level of your enemies so he decided to have a go, the fight ends he bows I say thanks and we leave. Later on the same mission I'm in a Czerka cave facility in the Dune sea again and get jumped 3 times by reps but my superior ability holds out ... the extra 15 levels probably helped a bit too though one nearly had me. I bail out an Imp I find down there and we group up to complete the mission together. At the sametime we meet up with two other pairs of reps first a pair of Jedi who died horribly then another pair of troopers later on. Yeah I know I won because I was higher level ... I think as I don't know their levels but I'm assuming. However it felt like a cross between DFO and SWG in the Dune Sea, open world PvP minus bell end hackers. So if you're either an imp or a rep and you're looking for a fight check out the Dune Sea which is a massive open expanse that according to some people doesn't exist in TOR! |

Why is this even on MMORPG.com? Dust is a shooter that isn't even on PC! Yeah it is going to be somehow mystically linked with EVE but still you can't play it as an MMORPG, it's a shooter and one that you need a PS3 to play no less. May as well put BF3 on the list of MMORPGs if we're going to get articles about Dust. I know people are going to say "But it affects the perpetual world of EVE online" well so does trading and buying and selling on Ebay and gold selling sites. Also there is no evidence what affect this will have in the game you only have the word of some shady characters at CCP and we know how that's panned out in the past don't we? |

Tried out warzones for the first time yesterday
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/24/11 1:26:20 AM
And I'm thoroughly enjoying them, Huttball seems to be the most difficult as it requires full team co-ordination and I often end up sitting at my comp screaming into my monitor (because you know the PvP gods are listening) "F**K! F**K! F**K!". If I'm shouting at my monitor and making comments such as "Don't give me any support F**K WITS!" and "F**K my life!" then it's a sure sign that the PvP is good and lots of fun. Warzones work out great for when I need extra cash to support my ever growing cottage industry of arms manufacturing and it's a great way to meet and violently savage other players! I give BW a 10/10 for putting together a challenging but balanced set of warzones where everyone is autoleveled up so that no one is running around owning everyone else like Darth Vader fighting retarded Ewoks. See you on the battlefield guys :) |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Launch Day!
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/22/11 8:35:21 AM
Now that my rage has simmered down after MikeB got in one day earlier than myself I can say I agree with him, I'm just getting into crew skills and as someone who usualy hates crafting it's an addictive take on crafting. |

Originally posted by Kuinn Pretty much how I got into it, I'm not saying that space combat is the second coming of Christ or anything but when I want to take a break but still play I can do space combat. The ship is upgradeable and it's fun for what it is, when I just want to watch the TV or have a smoke and a drink I can level crew skills and do crafting at the sametime.

Originally posted by mrw0lf The pace of leveling has been just right for myself and I combated the server queues by rolling a BH on an American server and a Jedi on an EU server. Since both have unique stories and companions and so forth it means I can keep myself amused when I wish to play. However the queues have been harsh at times for some servers (saw on with a 2hr queue even at slow times for those servers!) |

Originally posted by Decadentia I have crew gathering skills (salvage) and I've clicked on stuff but I don't know what skills I need or if I have them to loot it (even though it was glowing). I'm just learning so I'm not refuting what you're saying and no sweat about being confrontational I didn't assume that though it's hard to tell when reading text. |

I agree for many of us those days are long gone, the last game I tried it with was Darkfall which is a great game but many of the guys whining for a sandbox will slag it down because of the exact reasons you state. Most of thos guys played UO and SWG and want those days back again just they haven't accepted that they've grown up. Darkfall is a great game but after I'd got a bunch of my stats to lvl 100 and I looked at myself and thought "WTF are you doing?". Those games are still there it's just now I prefer to have a Cuban cigar and a glass of malt Scotch than sit bashing a keyboard and running macros like a zombie for 12 hrs so that I can PWN some 12 year old kid and get his mother mad at me. And I do miss those days dearly ..... though I'm not sure why! |

Originally posted by sgel Sorry about that I tried to think of something that was actualy bad but the closest I got was character creation which I can't honestly say is bad, at worst it's mediocre. Also I haven't played the entire game so it's just the parts I've encountered so far (I'm level 26). The closest to Bad would be a few days ago when I updated my video drivers and I started getting green lines in the game which had been discussed previously. However with the following update to SWTOR the green lines vanished about a day or two later so it was anoying when it happened (very rarely) but not game breaking and has now stopped as far as I can tell. |

Good: Massive galaxy: Sweet! Combat: Sexeh. Space combat: sexeh side game (better than JTL). Companions: Excellent, customisable and do your donkey work. Classes: Can do a bit of everything, very sexeh when in need of a tank or healer in a flashpoint. Flashpoints: Sweet. Storyline missions: Unlike anything before it in an MMORPG. Mission VO: Can never go back now. Grouping: Many rewards besides the help and watching the others speak in Vo handing in their mission is sweet. Launch: Best I've ever experienced. Bugs: None so far. Player ships: Sweet housing reminds me exactly of KotOR and Mass Effect. Leveling: Doesn't feel like a grind, no "Let's go to X spot and grind nightsisters" or "I'm trapped between levels so it's time to grind the villas". Performance: No lag and no hamsters dieing of heart attacks. Community: It seems the imp fleet may turn into a social hub but none to really speak of right now. Still the players are decent, polite and helpful a vast contrast to the AoC launch. Character creation: lacking in my opinion not to the point it's bad however it's not that good either just acceptable. Overall: The game has had a solid launch and is well grounded in the basics of all MMORPGs, combat seems to be well balanced overall since everyone can do at least a little of everything. Bioware has constructed a strong foundation to build their game upon and I hope they don't drop the ball in doing that since I could be subscribing for a while (I've subed to games for 3 months that were ALOT worse than this). Fanbois? Damn ****ing right! Now go buy this game before I send a bounty hunter to skin you alive! Merry Christmas, Agricola

I'm having a great time playing my NA Bounty Hunter and my EU Jedi also I'd like to add that space battles are great fun and an excellent diversion. In fact they're a damn sight more enjoyable than the JTL expansion which so many professed to be horny for in the now defunct SWG. Long live SWTOR! Death to haters! |

Originally posted by Teala Sounds like Darkfall but with probably alot less features by the time it releases in 2013/4/5/ever, I'd rather be playing SWTOR myself than hating on a forum because it doesn't match up to my fantasies of Archage. Well I'm off to Hutta now to collect on a bounty and have a few drinks with some girls in the cantina, hope that Archfall thing works out for you in a few years time! |

BioWare Sabotaging Jedi/Sith Classes to Force People to Roll Non-Force Users?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/20/11 2:00:40 AM
Originally posted by SuperXero89 It isn't a patch on the issue it is the whole point of playing an MMORPG, to group up with people and share the game wether assisting them or against them. You want to play a single player with a side order of multiplayer content when/if it takes your fancy. That's fine it's your $15 a month but BW wants this game to be a bit more social than the single player MMO's that have been pouring out since WoW. If I wanted to play this game by myself without the need for assistance or grouping I'd play one of the KOTOR games and save myself alot of cash and heartache. I certainly wouldn't want BW to "fix" the game by making all elites and champions soloable as that would destroy the social aspect which is what most of us play MMORPG's for.
EDIT: I see no where that bioware state X quest is strictly a solo quest though I do see where it suggests some are group quest when it says Heroic. I've failed on the quests you've mentioned with my BH but grouped or came back later, fixed. |

I just say LFG: X mission and within a few minutes I'm set and rolling with a group of bad ass mofo's ripping those elites a new anus! I've found it to be the most fun in the game so far! |
