Do you have an SSD? If not that should be your next upgrade, which PSU are you using? EDIT: Sorry I see you have an SSD so maybe look at the PSU or put another couple of sticks of ram in? What about your keyboard and mouse? |

More Radeon HD 7000 series cards don't entirely launch
Hardware « General Discussion 1/09/12 9:37:52 AM
I'm glad people purchase the new cards at launch but for the most part I run on a budget and only recently upgraded my old 5770 to a 6870 because the fan on the card sounded like a jackhammer and was on the verge of burning out. Why didn't I go for a 7 series? The 6870 is a tried and true card that cost me about the same as a 5770 did at launch also I would still be using my desktop and playing my games perfectly with the 5770 if it wasn't on it's last legs. I suppose if you've bought an SSD already and have money to burn then go for it but why bother with the latest series when good manufacturers are trying to clear the shelves of cards that will stand up to anything for years to come at a cheap price? Perhaps there has been a market slump and investing in the lower end of the 7 series isn't viable right now? |

Question to those that are complaining.

Originally posted by onlinenow25 Some people don't like it and that's fine but then there are the whiners who complain because in my opinion they've never played an MMORPG at release and are just plain ignorant fools. If you were at the AoC launch and remember that sizziling steak of train crash with the wonderful memory leak that forced you to relog? Was great in groups doing quests when your buddy on shouts on vent "I can't see anything" then the whole group gets wiped out! The general chat at AoC was a 24/7 spam of Chuck Norris jokes and a competition on who could be the most vulgar low life since nothing was censored. Broken quests with voice over disappearing when you left the started island ahh yes it was pretty nasty launch and shortly after the gold seller spam started 24/7. Some of these whiners need to get a reality check in the world of MMORPGs, the game just launched to what is the smoothest launch ever in the genre. The game is solid with few bugs that have already been or are being addressed. New content has already made it in with new warzones and more coming, but in the end people like to complain because the wife/GF/mum complains to them and there only outlet is to vent at SWTOR here. |

Getting tired of WAR WAR WAR :/
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/08/12 3:21:56 AM
Originally posted by Elikal Actually playing as a BH I got missions such as "My girlfriends been sold into slavery and forced to strip get her back for me" it turned out the GF had't been enslaved and enjoyed stripping and I had to do some relationship counciling (went darkside naturaly!). Another was about retrieving a womans daughter who's husband had kidnapped her to keep her away from the sith. Then there are the Revenites which isn't all fighting. Playing as a Jedi Consular (only lvl 16) there were missions such as discover the truth between two people having a relationship. The Jedi council bans romantic relationships and I had to spy on them then report my findings. In fact there are plenty of non combat missions in SWTOR but yes the majority concern the war that your faction is engaged in and that you're meant to be assisting. Also no one is forcing you to do them in any order, I haven't and sometimes I get a nice suprise when I return to an area and see available missions from NPCs that weren't there before. You shouldn't be so obsessed with fighting and conformity because it sounds like it's eating you up and besides 90% of MMORPG quests involve combat and SWTOR certainly beats "Gather 12 rat tails". Quite frankly I'd rather kill 100 republic/imperial bitches than sing to a tree with hobbits and elves any day but that's just me! |

SWTOR hits the British press again: S&M "shocker" outrages non gamers!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/05/12 5:34:11 AM
Originally posted by DarkPony I found it rather ..... *ahem* yes disgusting filth how dare he! ;) The point I think he's making is that there are adults everyday all over the world role playing master and slave in consensual real life bondage sessions. Consenting adults are beating and whipping each other now as you read this and both the slave and master are enjoying the experience. So why get your knickers in a twist about some pixels slapping some pixels then commanding your pixels to electrocute the "slave" pixels (aren't all pixels/companions our slaves anyway)? Why not show outrage towards those doing it in real life? Because children might be playing the game? What about the little boy that pulls legs off the spider one by one in the playground? Isn't he actually inflicting pain upon another living being and taking pleasure in the agony? Shouldn't we start our crusade there? What I believe is that the people really outraged by this and profess it publicly are probably the ones that are into something far worse or are afraid of those skeletons in their closets so they defelect attention to someone playing a computer game. Moral outrage over SWTOR? Are you ****ing kidding me? I've seen adverts for television programs in this country that shocked me (no pun intended) more than SWTOR *ahem* geordie shore *ahem* and no I didn't watch it because I could feel my IQ drop about 30 points just from the advert! |

I allow my 14 year old son to play SWTOR (he has a sith assasin) yet I have facebook, myspace and twitter ISP blocked. I agree that the subject matter is mature but I think each parent has to decide for themselves but many parents don't take an interest in their child's activities today which is why bad things happen, not because bad things exist. Besides is there a married man that at some point didn't want to put a collar around his nagging wife and just "Give her some juice"? |

truth about swtor bannings of players.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/04/12 12:39:21 PM
For those that don't get it, 1: "First, action was taken against a number of accounts for what's commonly known as 'gold farming' - or in our case, credit farming. These accounts were found to be exploiting the game in a variety of ways to maximize their credits in order to sell them to other players. Our Terms of Service team took action against these accounts and removed them permanently from the game." Translation = The guys that were banned were banned for exploiting the game. What is their definition of exploiting? Read the ToS and since it's their game whatever they consider exploiting within SWTOR is exploiting your opinion ain't worth squat (though you don't have to like it).
2: "Second, a smaller number of accounts were warned or temporarily suspended for exploiting loot containers on Ilum. To be completely clear, while players may choose to travel to Ilum earlier than the recommended level (40+) and may loot containers if they can get to them, in the cases of those customers that were warned or temporarily suspended, they were systematically and repeatedly looting containers in very high numbers resulting in the game economy becoming unbalanced." Translation = The guys going to Ilum and being a bit naughty were warned not banned. What's the difference between being naughty and exploiting? Whatever they decide it is but most humans with a mental age above that of the average 7 year old could take a pretty good guess and not fall short of the mark.
Conclusion = "In summary, our Terms of Service team took action against a number of accounts that were 'credit farming' to remove them permanently from the game. They also warned and temporarily suspended - but did not ban - a smaller number of accounts for activities on Ilum that were decided to be game exploits. If you don't like it then tough but in my opinion I haven't been showered with mails and whispers from gold selling scumbags so I'm happy and just FYI I went to Ilum at lvl 20 something to check it out and have not been warned so I guess those guys should either play the game or uninstall now. Thank you Bioware :) |

First I'd ask which PSU do you have? Secondly does your present motherboard use SATA 3? If your present motherboard uses SATA 2 then (if it were me) I'd upgrade the motherboard first then buy an SSD. However that all depends on the PSU since it's just common sense to have a good PSU in there before doing anything else. There are a few good brands out there, my prefered brands (just me talking) are Corsair and OCZ. |

Thanks, I agree with what was said nad if you're on the fence about buying this game then listen to this then go buy it! |

Banned for not going linear?

Originally posted by Sora2810 Itook my char when I was in my 20's to Ilium with similar results, this guy may have been using a loot bot (which I have seen one player use so far) and no doubt there are more hacks out there for these dweebs that use them. Yeah this guy didn't get a ban for what he claims I'd bet good money on that! |

With the BH is it the quest where you board the ship and face the Jarro jedi and his padawan? If so then his padawan is bugged and will heal him despite being dead so you either CC the padawan for the duration of the fight or kill her and drag Jarro to the other end of the command deck and finish him there. If not try grouping up with someone to finish the quest, I'm not being funny but have you attempted the quests grouped up with other players yet? |

please help a qustion about the Lag
Questions & Answers « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/27/11 12:51:05 PM
It all depends on what sort of connection you have but the best bet for being lag free is an EU server, I play on NA servers from the UK and am lag free but I have a very fast cable connection. |
