It might just be me, but, the more i watched the videos of the game, the more i thought the graphics looked a lot like arcade type. The world doesnt look very real, nor do the Bane, .. though it might just be bad video feed and hard to tell until you play the real thing. Still hoping Fallen Earth comes out soon, to me it looks more like the type of game id be interested in. |

I really wanted to come back, but ...
General Discussion « Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted 8/29/07 6:10:33 PM
First off, you guys who say you tried to make a new account or log into your old one must b like 5 years old ... Ive made 2 new accounts and have also been able to log into my old ones once i remembered the passwords. 2nd, they are offering in the new billing that you can play for $9.95 a month, for a basic subscription with 3 characters and so on. http://community.istaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16328 there are the full details for those who are interested. Ive been back for about 2 weeks now and the crafting is still fun, there is more community than i thought there would b, though most are there to make dragons .. the only thing that will keep me from playing this game is the lack of adventure, i still run all over the map with my lv 57 reaver and i dont see very many mobs, even ones that used to be there are gone now .. If you do find mobs they usually are of the golem, pigmy or wolf variety .. would be nice to see something different once in a while .. anyways .. its free to try at the moment, so you can make up your own minds about the game .. i think it was way ahead of its time when it launched in 03, and still has some great ideas that others never seemed to put into their mmo's .. but after crafting for hours on buildings, weapons and armor, would be nice to be able to adventure a lil bit also .. IMHO |

Horizons, where did all the mobs go
General Discussion « Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted 8/27/07 6:53:22 PM
I recently went back to Horizons since they are letting us go back for free at the moment. My characters from 03-04 where still all there. i ran all around, much has changed but most of the places remained the same with the exception of mobs. A lot of the mobs are gone. Why are all the mobs gone? there just seems to be a lot of empty space now. |

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Opinion Editorial
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/22/07 10:20:15 PM
I'm no longer impressed, I closed 2 accounts, I'm very tired of the end game thats just based on grinding for Honor and gear .. its the worst endgame for any MMO I have played. Ill go back to EQ2 and wait for conan or another game to come out. |

General: MMOWTF: How Do You Like Your PvP?
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/04/07 12:37:39 PM
I like a more structured kind of PVP, where everyone isnt against everyone .. you know who the good guys r and who the bad guys r .. On that note, I also prefure having beginner zones safe unless you attack the opponent first .. there are just way too many people who cant kill others of their same level so they find it fun to one shot new players, it discourages them from even wanting to play the game, ive left games because I couldnt level out of the new B zones just because people kept camping you that where way over your level. That being said, most PVP isnt about ganking every person from the opp side that you see .. a lot of that goes on, and to me that makes the game exciting knowing that you could find yourself in a battle with someone else other than a mob that is always stationed at that spot on the game .. I like when games incorporate some kind of events, not just the same old Battle Ground over and over again .. but have weekly or daily events that players can take part in. ( an example of this would b, some games Ive been in have had weekend seige's on castles etc .. just having BG's or killing people of the opp side when u see them questing, while they r fun for a while, gets old. This is where I'd like to see pvp that mattered, like taking over a castle, the side that won got extra rep in that area, or xp from the mobs they killed, etc .. would give an incentive to take part in the battle, not just a BG that the outcome doesnt matter once you get your honor for it and its over ... |

The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/24/07 2:17:57 PM
i just wish another game would come out that was worth playing, GOD I HATE WOW !! but as far as games go, its a shame that its the only one worth playing .. EQII isnt fun, IMHO, has great crafting and thats about all I like about it .. why cant there b a game out there with great crafting and game play ? There are things i like about wow, but I am just sick and tired of it. |

Ive been following this game since 05 and each vague release date goes by with no release. Its now the middle of 07 and there is no way that HJ is going to be released this year. WAR is already talking about beta's and they have an 08 release date, HJ hasnt even talked beta, or gotten their webpage finished yet .. I am so looking forward to this game and am willing to wait for a finished product, but would really appreciate them being a lot more realistic when announcing a release date. |

POLL: Which MMO has the best crafting system?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/27/07 10:06:05 AM
Horizons was the first mmo I ever played, and I started near its release. Its crafting system was by far the most fun I've ever been involved with, and probably one of the most realistic. EQII was enjoyable also, but Horizons by far made you feel like you was making a differance in the world by doing it. WOW's crafting system is a joke. The game is more about getting uber gear from your dungeon raids than it is about crafting anything of value . Jewel , alchemy and enchanting would probaly be the only 3 exceptions; though you could still get by with out either of them. I just think they help out more people than any other craft WOW has to offer. IMHO its not only one of the more useless craft systems, but the most boring also. Most of the things you can craft on WOW, you can get cheaper or better items from AH, Mob drops, quest rewards, BG's or rep grinding. |

Casual Play Column: Raiding Needs to Die
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/16/06 8:27:03 AM
This is the best topic I have read in a LONG LONG time ! It hits right on why I have stopped playing many games.
It would be so great if you could actually effect the world instead of it being stagnant. I would love to be a hard core player, but my real life outside doesn't allow me the time; but even as a hard core player I dont agree with armor and items unbalancing the game for those who cant put as much time into a game. I feel it makes pvp, B'Gs etc less fun for those of us who cant put the long hours into getting the rare drops in raids. Doing dungeons is fun but I think the rewards could be of a different nature. |

I really like the idea of an action, skill based MMO .. fantasy, swing your sword, cast your spell type's are getting very old .. (or i just need a break from them) and this seems to be the game that will give me that for a while; so I am hoping that its very addicting and fun to play !

I wasnt impressed .. fighting distance looked bad .. like you are swinging in the air .. to the person who said they would play it because nothing will come out till 2008, there are a bunch slated to come out in 2007 .. and some even look better than this. IMHO

World of Warcraft: Editorial: Two Casual Years Later
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/17/06 8:00:24 PM
WOW was the first game that kept me interested long enough for me to reach the level cap (60) ... and for all the reasons in Steve's editorial. Too many games made you need groups to continue to play .. or the grind was just over bearing . Its also the reason i quit twice . After reaching 60 with 4 characters, the fun seemed to end for me. The grind that wasnt there all of a sudden was the only thing left to do, grind rep .. or you needed a group for the end game instance's .. collecting gear seems to work for most people i guess, but not for me. Every one looking the same was one draw back, but also how unballanced it made the game; I got tired of the lack of skill it took to PVP in the game, just get epic gear and you can feel like a god ! Who knows, maybe there isnt such a thing as a good endgame, but ill keep looking for it. Till then, WOW was fun to play .. up to that point IMHO.

General: MMOWTF: Don't Hate the Player...
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/14/06 8:54:58 PM
I love PVP, games that dont have it, I wont play... That being said, Ive never seen any reason to kill players 10+ levels lower than myself .. or camping people who where easy to kill. Only idiots Ive ever camped that where 10+ levels lower than myself were dumb griefers like those who wrote this article, who griefed my alt or others when I was in the area, out would come my lv 60 and Id make that grief happy idiot wish they where on a PVE server.
Most fun Ive ever had was taking my lv 60 rogue and put her in stealth mode, then have her follow my alt around, my alt would get ganked by real high level players of the opp side all the time, but my 60 would have so much fun killing them back, wasnt long before they woudlnt attack my alt, but run when they seen it lol, not knowing if my rogue was with her or not =) PVP makes the games exciting, gives you other areas of game play other than just grinding .. only area that I would like to see fixed would be in players not being able to camp a dead player .. To be fair, it is a pvp server, Ive seen many players think that they can just do quest in pvp zones and think they should be left alone .. I dont agree to the camping, but if your getting ganked over and over in an area, go do a diff quest in a diff place for a while. |

General: The Return of the Saturday Debate
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/11/06 5:25:15 PM
Im confused, ive played on WOW for yrs, (Ursin PVP server) and to my knowledge, you can only PVP in certain zones. Why hold something like this or a wedding etc in a PVP zone ? Starter zones, where major cities are, you cant be attacked by the opp side unless you are flagged or attack first ... so there are places to hold such things and not worry about being PK'd IMHO. Yeah I think its terrible if they knew what was going on and attacked everyone anyways, but I have to say, there are places to do such events and not worry about such things happening.
