I hope they put a XP stop in the game, so if you want to stay let's say rank 20, you can stop the XP gaining so you stay rank 20 and can pvp in the tiers avaible to you.
You get that rank 20 players are getting very good, however if you don't have the option to stop the XP gaining, the open world PvP will die in lower tiers.

Funcom staff have stated 250 hours

but from what people have posted, levelling will be faster than WOW 1-60

It depends on how they have worked it out. Is it 250 hours doing all the q's and following all the story line etc or is it based on power levelling?. If the 250 hours is normal game play doing q's I reckon it would take half or even a third of that time. I would say conservatively about 100-125 hours. But you have to take into account the truly hard core, I heard some guy levelled 1-70 in WoW in a shade under 24hrs.

So you heard.  That is impossible.  I took my rogue from 60 to 70 in a couple weeks and I was playing at least 6 hours a day.  Even your fastest leveling service can't do that.

They did lessen the experience needed though.. I haven't played since shortly after hitting 70, so it could be vastly different now.  I still don't see leveling to 70 in one day of play time.

It's true, there is a guy who leveled to level 70 in around 24 hours.

Try to see it without the music. Boring as usual. And too many absurd effects.

That is because you don't play it yourself and you don't hear the sound effects.

I played top GvG (top 30) and my friend played top 5.
i can say you, your skills really really matter. Example:

Pro monk (healer):
 * He is switching weapons all the time so he uses the good weaponset for the good skills. Like 40% chance on getting a fast cast on a spell. Then he is switching to his weaponset with a shield when he is getting hit so they deal less damage.
* He is running 24/7 and is always in range of the other team mates, but never near the frontline.
* He is watching the field and is following the warriors, so when they are going to spike he sees them running to a target and he can buff that target before they even hit him.

Noob monk (healer):
* He is just watching the party bar and is just buffing/healing the players who are taking damage

* He stands one the wrong places so he is an easy target for the hostile warriors
* He is most of the time too late to heal up a spike

This takes skill already, but you have much more things. Like a GvG (Guild vs. Guild), you always have at least two ways to get to the Guild Lord (kill him and the game is over). One main way, what leads to the morale stand (get a flag in, hold it for 2 minutes and you get a 10% health and energy (mana) boost) and one back alley straight to the enemy's base. This is good to make different tactics.

Another thing is that you only have 8 skills with you and around 80 skills for each profession, that is already a lot, but you can have a secondary profession too. Like Monk/Warrior, your main is monk, but you can use warrior skills too.

However this is only in GvG. In PvE and most other PvP styles you don't really have to be good. (most of the time just click the right skill on the right time)

Well assuming they need to balance the classes, it would be logical that the last high elf would be some type of magic caster. They have the ranger, the swordsman, and the mage class covered.

I look for it to be some type of hybrid melee/healer, or a hybrid mage/healer, or a full blown healer class.

When you think of a high elf you think of divinity. They are the uppity ups of the warhammer world.

I forsee a really powerful healer class it this races future.

Well they already have the healer, the Archmage. I think it will be a pet class, because Destruction realm has a pet class too and that will make balancing easier. I think it is going to be the White Lion class.

Some people that follow warhammer cannot take this and therefore have to post negativity here out of the limelight. Its like " lets bash the competition here and no one will see....snicker snicker"

It would would be better for these boards here if those people who are really scared of AoC being popular just stopped posting for a while.

Who knows, but its for certain that warhammer fans should thank Funcom.

Mythic was not even going to have sieging like it is now until everyone saw how awesome they look in Conan.

Then Mythic borrowed AoC's innovative SpellWeaving concept and added that into their game.

Then Mythic lifted the skin for crafting from AoC and then made it warhammerish, (but its essentially the same)

Then Mythic saw how cool Stealthing looked in AoC and went back on their word and but it into Warhammer Beta. People were in both beta's and it was really easy to see which game was stale. Good for Mythic for adding a little spice to the war.

Then Mythic saw that AoC has sieges with set spots for siege weapons (cough AoC)

Plenty more...

Haha, thank you for your post, i couldn't stop laughing. Well go back to AoC and defend your game against WAR fanboys bashing it. gogo! :D:D:D:D

I think you're mistaken there. The adult theme of gore and boobies attracts a much more immature audience then something like WAR would. Most people attracted to WAR are there because they enjoy the Warhammer universe, or because they loved Dark Age of Camelot, one of the greatest PvP games released to date. I know I'll be trying to out to see what Mythic can do, though I don't trust EAMythic, considering how down the tubes DAoC has gone since EA got their filthy hands involved on it. Also, I think a lot of people realize either their computers can't handle AoC, or that its soo not ready for release :P

QFT
I think the OP kiddy doesn't realize that Warhammer is 25 years old, which means 35+ year olds grew up playing it.
Silly kids think they know everything. LoL. Ahhhh the good ol days, back before I grew up and realized I don't know shit.

You seriously misunderstood my post, I am aware of the fact that Warhammer is 25 years old and I myself used to play the tabletop several years back, and probably am going to continue in a while.
My post is "structured" if you may, in a way so it doesn't offend either of the two... fanboi parties.

Dont misinterpret my post dude, and if you really are 37 you're acting worse than a 12 year old (almost) "LoL" uhhh whats up with WoW fanbois adding a capital letter at the start and end of every 3 letter word/abreviation or whatever.

LoL, it silly that you think that has to do with WoW. HaHaH. Oh yea, don't call me dude, kid. I never played Warhammer, I can't stand WoW and never said how old I was. But even adults like to mess with people from time to time, especially when they title threads WAR vs AoC.

Seriously though, I'm just giving you a hard time. There is a good bit of psychology behind why people would choose one game over the other. Marketing styles, PvP, RvR, blood, boobs, graphics, backend systems, IP, Lore, age, etc ...

Well dA_fReAK, here is your answer he isn´t 37 (like his personal info on his account says). I know this is off topic, but I laughed so loud, that I coulnd't stand to not reply.

If they implant stealth like they have in TF2 (yes i know it is a FPS), but let me explain for the people that don't know the stealth there.

The spy class has stealth, however when you put stealth on, you van be invisible for max 20-25 seconds. You can't attack while you are in stealth. You have to put stealth off, that takes around 3 seconds, then you can attack. However even if you are invisible for that period you can't attack quick and when you put stealth mode off, they see the skill animation, so you are dead in a few seconds.

When they inplant this stealth, you use stealth to get behind them, turn off stealth and try to get them from behind, without them noticing you.

Well what i read was that there are portals between zones. You are in zone X and you want to go to zone Y, you have to go through a portal. It was kinda like GuildWars, but without the copies of the same area.

Secondly - Mythic has already stated they are doing this game in diffrent "focused stages"

How about the first "focus" to actually make the game look like its 2008 instead of  1998.

Everything I have heard so far about this game has been negative - everything I have seen so far is negative.   The best part I have seen so far are podcasts of some jerks talking about how great this and that is.  And Im really sorry - but thats not gonna sell any MMOS.  Other Dev's have tried that before.

I guess its time for Mythic to start learning new "tricks" for their podcasts.  How about them beating each other up in DAOC ?

Nice bullshit. Why do you need good graphics if they don't even know how the game runs. They have to change a lot, so polish it now will be a waste. They let people beta test to break the game, to see what is bugged and what can be changed to make the game more fun. They don't get people in for a opinion about the graphics.

I totally agree with you.  Outdated is the big word here on a "next" generation game.  It looks plain ugly.  Baisc animations look like made from 10 year old.  Sound is horrible.

This junk is a discrace to the Table top game and should be thrown out right now.

I'm not sure what games you guys over the ocean had 10 years ago but nothing that was out 10 years ago looked as detailed, had good shadowing and impressive lighting in it...infact most games from 10 years ago couldn't support more than 10 people on screen at a time.

This game has to have 200 somethign people on screen at a time .. MMOs are not FPS games ... of course 10 years ago NOTHING looekd as good as WAR not even FPS games.

honestly what sort of crack are some of you people smoking complaining about MMO graphics?  Do you want the game to work on a massive scale or not?  Because frankly .. Im tired of pretty games that have suck gameplay ..and sucky ass graphical lag.

WAR looks awsome to me...well except the obvious low res beta footage but then again thats why its BETA footage.  They've never claimed NEXT GEN GRAPHICS not once.   Only MMO claiming that is AoC.

Elvenangel, I agree on everything you post on these forums, however just give up. These people just don't want to listen and don't want to research the game. Just stop convincing them, it's better that they won't play WAR. They probably are flame-1337-kids

Haha, one word: lol!

I love the reasons the most people give <3 Like the graphics suck and that it is just the same as WoW.

Trial Keys - Remove the ability to trade items for people running the game on trial keys. Also, remove the ability for these players to "drop" items. Increase personal storage for them (so they can try different things), but make it so that these trial players have little to no effect on the economy whatsoever.

Fansites - I call for all WAR fansites to make specific rules against preventing its members from advertising anything that violates the game's EULA. For example, a post about selling gold should be deleted and that member banned.

Game Mechanics - In PVE Zones, make it so that continually hunting in the exact same area yields severely less rewards. Don't allow botters to camp one area for 24 hours a day. Hit them where it hurts - in the pocket. In PvP zones, this problem is controlled by the players themselves.

Dedictation - As long as EA Mythic is dedicated to maintaining a fair and legitimate game, the gold farmers and botters will have a tough time of it. Establish a "zero tolerance" policy early on . . . and this will certainly help in lessening the non-legit population.

GuildWars have/had this, but the gold farmers just had two places to farm. So when the mobs dropped less because of overfarming, they just went to the other farm place.

An Open RvR server would mean that the PvP would be more spread out across the zone and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

But then compared to the open RvR servers, the core servers will seem like the PvP zones are just BGs. ughh, I'm so torn between the two.

Well I have the same feeling now, however I will probably choose for Open RvR. Hmm let me make a scetch

Take 10000 people on Core server (talking about level 40 players):

4000 Players will fight in Scenario's

2000 Players will fight in RvR zones

4000 Players will PvE

Take 10000 players on Open RvR server (also level 40 players):

4500 Players will fight in Scenario's

2500 Players will fight in RvR zones

500-1000 Players will zerg around in opposite PvE area's

2000-2500 Players will PvE

I think something like that happens (I know the numbers can be totally wrong, but I don't care about the exact numbers.)

It will probably will something like that. Less people will PvE, more people will PvP/RvR. The only difference with Open RvR is that you can PvP in PvE zones, however not many people want to go to the opposite realm to kill PvE players.

Well i agree with the OP, circle strafing is bad.

Look GuildWars, it doesn't have circle strafing and it is a really good PvP game.

Do you have a link for that pre order package? :D
