Hi

My daughter recently did me a favour by dropping some pop on my lapotp and fortunately under the warranty i got a replacement that has a much better graphics  set up than my previous radeon x600 load of cack so now i have a geforce 7600 go so i can play more than world of warcraft now.

However i was wondering how vanguard plays on this or similar as i know its a pretty graphics hungry game.

Any   advice ?

PS should mention the other relevant specs which  is a dual core turion 64 processor with  2 gig ram 

Have to say i thought the game was truly  awful and an absolute waste of money  even if it is free to play but each to their own i say.....

Lol i thought WOW was grindy (especially as a druid)

I have to agree with op. I have found it very quiet even at peak times to what i thought it would be.

Tobe honest i think they hardware required to run it well hasnt done it too many favours and put alot of players off. In my case this is true and even though i liked it when i played wioth a buddy key not enough to buy a new rig to play it well. Maybe one day.

God is this game still alive?

I do agree draw your own opnions but i would also listen to the people that have played it. Its still a pile of poo no matter how you dress it up. Id give it no more than 6 months before they close it down as a loss maker.

Just wanted to let you know for those that are looking for a new pc in the uk ive just ordered my new machine from http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

I know there are many retailers and such outb there but i have to say these guys are really competitive. Like for like the rig i bought comes in at £600 cheaper than the same at alienware  and £400 cheaper than beast computers and they also dont have the longwaiting time. Have been quoted 10 days for mine. Also comes with lifetime first line tech support.

Luckily someone was kind enough to give me a buddy key so i could try before i buy and im glad i did. The game itself i think will shape up pretty well however without having an upper middle to high spec machine you will not get alot out of it.

Maybe i will come back to it when i have a spare grand to spend on a new machine

Just an update on my earlier post. I installed the game on my daughters pc to see how it would to see how it wold run just out of curiosity. This is an athlon 64 3200 with 1 gig ram and a geforce 6600gt which was no slouch of a card 2 years ago and again if i ried to run it anything abover the second from bottom setings  on higher performance in the wild was ok  however in vilaages it almost dies a death.

As i said i think this game has a good feel to it (anyone who likes easy mode in wow will like this) however if u aint got the hardware it really isnt worth buying.  I can only stress the importance of trying to get hold of a buddy key and trying it.

Im having exactly the same issue as yourself after digitial download. It did cross my mind about the directx but as far as im aware and form the dxdiag im using the latest version directx 9.0c. Directx 10 is only for vista users.

Gonna be pretty annoying f i cant get this working seeings as i took me over 25 hours to dowbload it.

Id be interesetd if anyone else has any ideas 

id lend your mate the disks cos the downloads the hard bit, mines been goig for 25 hours and estimated time left is 15 hours lol

and thats on a 4mb connection , soo many peple must be trying to dl it

Well i have a pentiium 3.4 laptop , 2 gig ram but a poor graphics card in the form of an ati x600 however it does have 256 dedicated ram so obviously my video card sucks but upgrading isnt possible on this model.

Could always accidentally drop it down the stairs i suppose lol but my wife would kill me

I cant say i was particularly that impressed with the authors preview feature , seemed to lack a little substance and didnt really say anything i didnt know.

Im going to hang on for a little while longer and see how it pans out before i buy. Been suckered into preordering before so im never gonna do it again.

Hope you are enjoying vanguard those that are playing. Ive heard that  it appears they have doen alot of work on optimising the game in perfomance terms and it now runs alot better on all types of hardware. Is that correct or just rumour?

Im hanging back until i get some real feedback on the game.

I sympathise with you mate. Was just gonna tell ya the machine u got comes standard with a 250w psu which frankly is ridiculous for modern standards however as youve already bought another already you will already know this.  ive come across a couple of posts form time to time on the technet forums with people with the same woes as yours and to be honest they were struggling to find any pci-e cards that actually work satisfactorily with that motherboard which does as youve already found out - suck to high heaven in terms of compatability. As fgar as i can see you have doen everything correctly so can only presume it is a compatability issue if you have already rtb the card and had a replacement or tried it on another pc

Im really glad theyre still actively putting out content updates for this game. It is  too great a game to let die especially in pvp. I often rue ebaying my account several years ago and would certainly go back to it however i just cant bring myself to grind soem more toons again sadly.

With the 1.87 changes that somneone mentioned about the regen and xp rates being uppped i might try it out on the free trial again although im tempted to go more for the us servers as opposed to the euro servers as i hear theyre very low populaiton now

Have to say ive still never quite managed to recreate the thrill i got pvping in daoc on many occasions.
