Did you really need to start three threads whining about Turbine making this game? Yes, you have the right to an opinion but please don't clutter the forums.

I think turbine is the wrong group for this game. I played AC1 for years and enjoyed it. As far as I was concerned you had both solo playability and group playability. I decided to give DDO a try. That was a waste of my money. No matter what the cool aid drinkers say about the game, it sucks. I can't help but think that LOTR will be the same. I hope I'm wrong because I would like to play it but I did learn to read what people post here before I go out and buy it.

Aye laddy ye be correct about turbine entertainment they have messed up some good games which is so sad  dnd looked good but wasnt top notch and the other games that you mention i heard decent things about but Turbine need to get professionals befor working on lotr online for us lotr fans we cant have Turbine Entertainment ruin this i say that we should find a way to contact blizzard and ask them to work on it so that they can turn lotr online into the holy grail or have ea games turbine and blizzard work on it as a team then wed get the best of all

You're joking right? EA and blizzard would ***** out LotR faster then anyone else. Blizzard might make a decent game but not for the LotR fans. And EA would just throw out any old junk and slap the liscense on it.

Well, it's not really like either. I guess you could say it's more like WoW because of the seamless world but that's not a lot to base a comparison on.

Oh, I understand it's your opinion. And I also feel that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Doesn't mean I'm not going to call you on where I think you are wrong. That's my opinion. Sorry about ruining your joke but I never got upset about your crack at hormonal teens. It actually made me laugh.

But I don't think you know much about LotRO. You might want to learn more about the game before passing judgment. It's really quite different then DDO. Evil races and PvP are not in at launch because of lore and region issues (Launch is in Eriador during the third age). Now, I know people like these features but a lot don't mind not having them. I think my favorite phrase is "to each his own" nowadays.

Oh, and it will be a seamless world, only 20% instanced.

Well, Turbine has stated that LotRO will have it's own rich story to follow. Hence, "Shadows of Angmar". Yes, the story in the books will be happening but we will also follow our own stories. We are the B-Team, not that it's bad or anything.

We will be able to meet and help certain members of the Fellowship but in what fashion is still unknown. I think we'll have to wait until beta to see if Turbine has made a mistake on setting the game during the third age. I still think they are doing a good job.

I always find it funny when people spout ignorant remarks. You seem to think that LotRO will be a failure, which is possible, but then add "like DDO". Which just throws all of your credibility out the window. DDO is not meant to challenge WoW, Lineage, or Lineage 2. It's a niche game. Turbine delivered on what they promised, nothing more. You don't need millions of players to have a successful game.

To each his own I guess. I like the direction as of right now but I know some people won't. Here's hoping for the best.

LotRO is not mostly instanced. It's around 80% open and 20% instanced.

You all do realize that their are two different dev teams involved with these games right? Not to mention that Turbine stated clearly what DDO would be like before it launched. And they delivered on their promises. Not to mention that it's pretty close to actual D&D. As close in video game as it could anyways. It's a niche game that will not appeal to everyone, don't expect it to be the next WoW.

And as for LotRO. At least wait until some info from the beta (which hasn't started) comes out before you cast final judgement.

Well, crafting is a definate feature at launch. The devs have mentioned this on the officials. And a few devs have mentioned that housing is a high priority after launch.

Ok, can I have your stuff?

Really now, we don't know everything about this game yet. At least wait for beta to be around a bit before you pass judgements. And as for the MMO genre being flooded with fantasy based MMO's, correct but not necessarily bad. To each his own.

Hmmm, that's a hard one. Only three? Well, I don't think I could do that. I'll give you five instead.

1. Lord of the Rings Online : SoA
2. Warhammer Online : AoR
3. Vanguard : SoH
4. Star Trek Online
5. Stargate Worlds

Do not llok for accurate release dates at EB, Gamestop, Gamespot, etc.

They are the same game, the websites just don't update games that don't have a lot of hype. Check the official site, still only says 2006. No specific date has been said yet. Though Patience has said that it will definately not come out in May.

You'll know first hand when the beta starts up if you keep an eye on the official website. Turbine hasn't even started taking applications, so I'd say it could be a few months before it starts.

But I think that most of the slander comes from people that enjoy jumping up at the slightest thing that they can prove to be 'wrong' in someones post. As is well known, the game is based on the books, and not on the movies. Not the art, not the twists that PJ threw in (eg: Arwen at the Ford of Bruinen (sp?)), nothing from the movies. So when someone posts about how they'd like to see Minas Tirith look as it did in the movie, some of those people are so quick to jump up and yell "wrong!".

There are bad eggs in all groups. All you can do is ignore them.

I mainly see the slander when it comes to people who haven't read the books offering suggestions that don't fit the lore. They then whine and moan because of course their idea is wonderful. ::::12::

I don't care if people don't know anything about the lore. I just don't like the fact that a few of them think they know what's best for the game when they know nothing of the background story.
