Enlighten me, how does this work?

1. It exists, it's just not announced by Mythic yet. Tons of Gamestops and EBgames are already taking pre-orders and giving out the slips. Some are just handing out the slips without pre-orders.

2. It's not access intot he closed beta. It's access to the open beta. But open beta for WAR just means the NDA is dropped, not that everyone gets in.

3. No need to re-register. You'll just put the codes in through a little website (Which is up but not functional) to get your bonuses (Early start, two in-game items, and access to open beta).

Wow, that is a toughie. I'd like to say Open RvR RP if they have it but it all depends on what the guild would like to play. We'll just have to test the waters and go from there.

I didn't know Walmart even took Pre-orders for games. Shows my ignorance.

Anywho, I already got my codes from Gamestop.

Empire Witch Hunter for my main, even though from everything I've heard they stink so far .  My alt will be a High Elven Swordmaster.

And as for Destruction....So many to choose from when I'm not playing with my guild on the Order side. Probably going with the Goblin Squig Herder, Black Orc, and Chaos Marauder most likely.

I personally don't want anything to do with AoC. It seems way to immature for my tastes.

And blood and guts aren't what make a game mature (Maturity, not what the ESRB dictates). Nor is using sex as a buff source....

Yes, you can argue that sex is a staple in Robert E. Howard's work and that AoC will have a M rating so that this won't be intended for kids. I just don't think it necessary to have it at all. There are many more facets of the Conan books to delve into without using this one.

Well as for loot, the quests will give people loot based on their class. And the public quests are cool int he fact that you can do them over and get better rewards.

I wouldn't get to wrapped up in that idea. All internet polls are flawed in that they are self selecting. You get all of the hardcore fans and people who actually follow the game before launch voting which offsets the votes.

I'll make the prediction that I've made for most MMO's....The goodies will outnumber the baddies.

Though this is a guess based on what I've seen casuals do in the past. And having a strong following from the tabletop community could definitely sway the numbers I'll stick with my guess.

This is a post I made at WHC. This should clear up any NDA questions for everyone.

Richard Duffek, the Community Coordinator from EA Mythic, contacted Warhammer Conflict with the following information regarding the NDA. Keep in mind that WHC will do its best to ensure that its members honor and respect their NDA Agreements.

_______________

Basically if someone is in the Beta and agreed to the NDA (which they had to do to get into the beta) they can say the following things:

1) There is a Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning closed beta going on.

2) I am in the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning closed beta.

That’s it, anything else is breaking NDA.

Richard Duffek
Community Coordinator
EA Mythic

Thanks for clearing that up.

That is very unusual by the way.

In which case your asking the beta testers to announce that they are in the beta. Something that is against every beta MMO NDA I've ever seen.

Freaking hilarious. Paul Barnett is probably the best guy for PR in the business in my opinion.

Head over to..

www.war-rvr.net/

That's all you really need to make you want this game. That is if it's possible. War won't be for everyone.

On the destruction side I'll be playing a Marauder. Just for the fact that I'll get crab claws and wierd mutations.

Witch Hunter

I mean, I get to torture people until they confess and then punish them. Besides, how can you not like the hat?

OP, give some reasons why you hate the parts you mentioned or compare them to systems you like more. We need to get a feeling of where you are coming from.

And blindly calling people who buy and play this game noobs doesn't really make your arguement stand out as intelligent.

Finally NDA is lifted , so i can ask you testers , a question that is on mind of many people interested in this game.

Is LOTRO really game for roleplayers ?

Now before you answer. Note this.

Every MMO. Or either online game with chat box is good for roleplay.
And just being set in certain popular setting like Middle earth doesnt neceserally makes it roleplaying heaven.

What i am looking for is - Do LOTRO have special game features that promote roleplay? And what are they ?

Some examples of roleplaying features: Can you flag yourself "Roleplaying" , Will there be roleplay servers , will names be enforced, how many emotes do you have , can you sit on chairs , drink , eat. Are there chat boubbles. Can you have surname , can you write your background for other people to see. Can you disguise your name. Can you wear clothes over armor , will everyone look almost the same.

Hmm, I'll take a stab at this, but others please chime in. I think it has a good feel to accommodate roleplay. Of the itmes you list:

I'm pretty sure you can't flag yourself roleplay, but I haven't played in 2 weeks due to real life time constraints

There are no current plays for roleplay servers

You can't sit on chairs

You can drink and eat

There are no chat bubbles to my knowledge, though I haven't looked for the option

You can have a surname at level 15 I beleive it is

You can write a background for others to see

You cannot disguise your name

You can not wear clothes over armor

Character custimization is not at thorough as Vanguard or SWG, but varied enough that there it's possible to not have clones

Now, all that said, it may not be roleplay friendly by your standards, but I think it has alot that many roleplayers will be happy with. For instance, for me, I don't need roleplay servers or chat bubbles for a game to be condusive to roleplaying. Sitting on chairs and wearing clothing over armor would be nice, I agree, but I can manage without it. I think the clothing thing would be tough to tackle because they have to adjust character models to support another "layer" of "paint" and the rework animations for that layer, which from my understanding is very tough to do if not tackled from the beginning. For me, the thing I want to hurry up and happen is the inclusion of housing.

That said, in my opinion it all boils down to the people you RP with. If you have a good group, you can overcome any short comings. Sure, those amenities make things nicer, but I'd hardly say having good RP isn't possible without them.

Hope that helped a little.

Just to let you know you can sit in chairs. Just stand close to one and type /sit . Your character will have a little sitting animation and boom, you're sitting in a chair. However, I found that there are a few chairs that this doesn't work with.

And there is a chat bubble option in the UI options.

And now the ones that are not on the low setting and at the medium-high setting.

I'm a big fan of LotRO, been in the beta for a long time. Great story elements and the environments are wonderful (This coming from a guy that played it on a 6600GT). My only gripes witht he game are that the Armor looks odd in certain instances and that the world is a little small for my taste. However, the world is jam packed with content and is practically bug free.

People in the beta will recognize the last pic of the Shire under attack. Good time.
