For anyone playing, i used this Ini file to up the graphics a bit, but it does not solve the texture problem, but adds some eye candy... use at own risk ( it worked for me in pre-release but i am no longer playing ) but thought i would share for those visual folks out there...

Yup, the ini file edit is how I had to do it, as i couldn't force it though the nVidia control panel.

Didn't know that about the textures though, in that case I can't wait for the higher res textures to be added! :D

I know that AA isn't in yet, but I have it forced and it adds that finishing touch to the visuals. Would definitely recommend it if you pick the game up before AA is in.

As for textures, I wasn't aware they were doing any higher res ones? Most of them are all perfectly fine, just a lot of the armor textures need work. Maybe that's what they are referring to? Either way, those aren't in yet either.

Hope that helps!

Yes, basically. And for many more months to come!

The one common word I keep seeing used is "Polished". Now granted I am not playing the game so all I have to go off of is the vocal minority on the forums and a couple friends that play it. One in paticular that cant stop talking about it. HOWEVER the word polished hasnt been used by a single one of my friends and seeing the amount of reported bugs or issues (combat, crafting, UI, ect ect) I'm wondering if the staff here at MMORPG.com understand what the word polished means. From what I see and have heard its not a polished turd like WAR or AOC at launch but not on par with some of the best launches like LOTRO and Rift. From my educated guess its somewhere right in the middle and I wouldnt be touting a game as "Polished" if thats the case.

From a players perspective, in my opinion it IS really REALLY polished. Yes, LOTRO was polished, and I can't speak for Rift as I don't play it, but I feel SWTOR has a little extra shine to it on the polish side of things. I haven't come across any bugs at all and i've been playing since 13th December.

However, there were a few issues in the last two beta builds before release, but I remember going into the live client and saying in General chat how this was such a step up with regards to polish.

It's a shame your friends are running into issues, because I really feel that touting "polished" is one definite agreeable plus to the experience so far for me.

How are Bioware dishonest? They advertised the retailers who they had the pre order early access deal with and Tesco was NOT one of them, so how can that be anyones fault but your own for where you purchased the game from?

Yes, Tesco is a legitimate retailer but not part of the Early Access promotion, so how someone can be frustrated at the game developer for not delivering on something they never ever said they'd deliver on is beyond me. If Tesco advertised they were giving early access codes and shipping the game then THEY are the ones mis-advertising.

Sorry you're having the problems you're experiencing, but maybe do a little research first before chosing your retailer for games.

take a look at the link i provided i think you will see they are..dunno where you get your information from..you dont advertise and not deliver..simple..this is bioware..has the guy said on the phone he would give me the key if he had it,,it was bioware that could'nt be bothered to deliver..and there is no point arguing..this cost tesco £15 because of bioware's incompetance...i am not the only one who has missed out on a key..one other thing i will say on the matter is this..the release date sucks..mainly because its right in the center of the festtive period..you might see a few more posts on here when games dont turn up before christmas becaused of the post..10 days earlier would have been better..i just hope for all the players of swtor that are not digital that they get their copies on time .i,m not sure if bio are giving grace period but if notr there are goin to be a lot of unhappy people..last guaranteed before christmas delivery is the 18th dec.so if its not released til the 22nd..its gonna be tight i think.

I'm not digital, I'm a physical box person myself and went the extra mile on the CE. My early access started 13th Dec and my physical and giant box (lol) was delivered on 15th Dec.

From what i've heard ingame most preorders have recieved their physical boxed copies as well as the digital guys have recieved their digital live keys, so it seems to have all worked out perfectly. Apart from those that bought from Tesco anyway ;)

I had an email last week with the client download link and also notification that invite emails will start going out on 13th Dec. Did you have that at least? If so, there won't be anything until Tuesday at the earliest depending on when you entered your early access key after pre-order etc etc.

Great post, OP. It's good to read an experienced and informed opinion of the game thus far. All your points help highten my excitement for release, and even for the big test this weekend. I'm also very interested in hearing opinions from previous SWG players, as I still have a big Star Wars MMO related hole left to fill and really REALLY hope this will do the trick.

I tested the game back last year for the Commando EU test and had a lot of fun, so I can't wait to see how it has progressed up to now!

I was also pretty surprised how quick the launcher downloaded the files for me, considering the UK's internet infrastructure is pretty sucky and also the rush of people flocking to download at the same time. Flicked it on to download when I went to bed, and woke up with a client ready for the weekend.

I feel bad for you OP and can understand your frustration, but at the same time it is in no way Biowares fault. I guess the general assumption is that people who sign up for beta testing understand the large clients involved in MMO's and have adequate facility to obtain these large files in an acceptable amount of time.

Hope you manage to get it downloaded in time, and if not then release is less than a month away, so hang in there for the discs!

Well now my bloody anticipation meter just went smashing through the roof. Thanks OP... lol!

Boxed CE. Because...uh... that's how I roll.

Jade Empire: Special Edition on PC maybe? Another Bioware epic, even if it does play a little clunky on PC. Still an A+ game in my opinion.

Bit of an overreaction to the Facebook connectivity, no? I mean, so they gain access to your name, gender, location and whatever other information YOU have willingly given to Facebook... big deal. It's not like they are accessing you bank account information (yet, if you go with the live game) or DNA.

Chill out lol

Announcement... isn't that just a funny-looking word? It is basically An+noun+cement. Who created this crazy English language anyhow....

That was waaaaaay to analytical for my liking, Talin. Haha! *feels self starting to ponder the meaning of life*

Hi guys,

I quit SWG, along with the vast majority of the SWG playing population shortly after the NGE drama. I've continued to miss the game since I quit and have, just today, been hit with the revelation of returning to SWG.

I'm set to return but there is just one question I need answering before I think I can do it, and that is regarding Ahazi's population. All of my characters are on Ahazi, including my main toon who I've worked on since the launch of SWG. If I'm coming back, I can't leave him behind! Is it an enjoyable experience playing on Ahazi? What is the population like on there? If it's dead, where should I return to? Can I transfer my toons over? Is transferring going to cost me a bomb?

I also have to read up on the stickied thread here regarding additions to the game since I've been gone, changes, features etc. I'm going to do this now and hope I can get an accurate response from someone with regards to my questions.

Thanks in advance!

I'm very interested in trying out DCUO. Maybe THIS is the superhero MMORPG for me, as CoX failed to hold my attention and CO...well is CO.

Email is adam_streames@hotmail.com

Hi guys,

Also looking to participate in the early access beta event for Vindictus. If I could grab a key also that would be great, and of course will spread them out this end too if there's more than one.

PM me or email at ryuke87@gmail.com .

Thanks :D

A lot of the retailers don't send out seperate head start keys, for those saying they haven't received their key. I pre-ordered from play.com and received a "Pre Order Key" which included Beta access, Head Start access and my perks for ordering from play.com.

Agree with most opinions here though, it is clearly stated that different retailers have different perks for ordering through them. Head Start access is not a given with ALL pre-orders. Most people tend to READ what they are buying first, so that they know what they are buying and what to expect / not expect. Simples!

Hardly Cryptics "screw up" as stated in the thread title!

In therms of end-game instances there are currently:

7x 6-man instances (+1 for battle of Lorien)

2x 3-man instances

2x 12-man lair raids

1x 12-man multi-boss raid

6x solo instances

Then add all the epic quests and stuff and you have LotrOs end-game. If you are not a 24/7 hardcore player then ther is more than enough end-game content.

end Quote.

Maybe we should sticky this I swear we get this question at least once a week.

More will also undoubtedly be patched in by the time you hit 60 if you are just starting now.

All that said, if you rush through to the endgame you will very much miss the point of LoTRO.  IMO the best content is the game is encountered as you level, and experiencing the story lines that emerge from different quest chains.  You'll also really be missing out of you skip all the group quests and book quests on your way up.

Don't forget Helegrod!

Adding to that list 1 x 24-man multi boss raid.

Good luck, let us know if you have any more problems but once you've created your account you should be good to play for the rest of today until it ends.

The next beta event schedule is a few posts above so hopefully you should be all set for that one.
