Demon's Souls released on 10/6/09 for ps3, should be on shelves 10/7.   From the reviews looks very cool, and very very difficult.

Think i am gonna go pick it up to play while waiting for Dragon Age. Alos if you have not played Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, i would grab that one as well. An older game but a very good rpg.

Oh my goodness, I bought this last night, it is THE best hack and slash RPG I've probably ever played. But while it's hack and slash, it's not hack and slash in the Diablo sense. You have to walk slow, think about what you're doing, and you will die A LOT and become very angry at the world, the game, and yourself. Which normally I hate, but some reason DS knows how to make me happy about it in the end, once I get passed the difficult tasks.

haha, so true. Demons's Souls is one of the best games I purchased all year! A really good, engaging, atmospheric, hack n'slash RPG.

Edit to prevent double post* Also looking forward to the film adaptation of World War Z my fave book of the last 5 years. The screenplay is beeing pened by J Micheal Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame. Have lots of respect for Mr Staczynski, hope he does it justice.

That movie has been in the works for awhile now, a good tide me over is the Audiobook if you can find it.

It's read by a full cast and pretty well done.

definately crazy timing, I saw Zombieland yesterday..more post-apoc/survival flick than an actual zombie movie. It was a good fun, movie. The zombies were more landscape/obstacles than anything else really. Shaun of the Dead was more of a Zombie movie.

then today while messing around the house/gaming I ended up watching Hardware (MARK 13) and The Last Man on Earth (the original B&W movie with Vincent Price,  based on the Matheson novel, that later was remade as The Omega Man with Charleton Heston, and then updated and remade as I am Legend with Will Smith).

maybe it's time I change up the movies I watch...heh. that's it, nothing but buddy action/comedies for me for a bit..bring on the Tango and Cash!

whoah...rambling, crazy post..yep I'm tired.

I am really looking forward to this. I enjoyed EvE for a long time. I wonder if I can contact my old corp through Dust 514?

very cool to hear you are liking it. I too am taking my sweet time playing this game, when i get to a town I stable my horse and run all missions on foot, I will be able to make gasoline soon, so when I do I will claim my ATV.

I just like going a lot of places on foot, and salvaging/scavenging along the way.

i started a 10 day trial just to see if certain technical things were fixed,  and yep they were. So i resubbed and am having fun in Tier 1 ORVR, plenty of players there, haven't hit the scenarios yet, I still need to go through the main website and begin the draconian process of moving characters from old servers.

Knights of the Blazing Sun weren't in the game last time I played, rolled one and running around with him now.

that's a great lil bonus, the stats will definately help people scavenge/harvest higher level nodes.

Experiment

I think this would be a partial, best practices/experiment.

I know the towns can get a bit laggy at times, I think there is a way to reduce the lag by a small margin.

I know it's convenient to roll up on your horse/atv, etc to wherever you have to go. I think if we can get everyone to get into the habit of stabling/garaging their mount when going into town, it would reduce the number of "actors" in the area that the server needs to keep track of, and might help the lag issues a little bit.

I have never seen or read a design document for this game, but, from what it looks like to me anyway is that the towns were designed with this practice in mind from the beginning.

Let's give it a shot? see if it makes a difference?

Worst case it reduces the clutter around the bank/workshops, and cuts down on the virtual horse poo  :)

-I also posted this on the official boards as well.

from what it sounds like he's getting gimped by not switching weapons when the mobs are in close contact,  for example,  the starter crossbow gives you a negative melee defense rating in close combat. to avoid gimping there, switch to melee weapons. Don't sit there and let the mob hammer on you while you are reloading.

It's hard to gimp chars now ever since they added the class templates to the character abilities page. (it's a little dropdown menu on the upper right hand side) Select a specific class and it will highlight your main stats and skills for your class.

maybe i will dig up a trial before committing any cash, thanks everyone.

After getting a new computer, I went back to WAR for a bit, found my server to be pretty desolate and I ended up having some technical problems that I didn't have before. Mind you, this was roughly 8 months ago.

Now with the server consolidation, and the new zones, I am just curious to ask if the interface lag has been fixed?

I think they are also getting great data from the early access players. All of the major issues were listed above. I think now a lot of stuff is getting a brighter light shown on it because people are going through the motions a playing the game seriously now vs a "it'll probably get fixed later" mentality.

It's great to see a lot of new players, hopefully this game will be a nice, slow burn. I started at Clinton FARM. Man, was it tough to get the mats for the starter medic quests, everywhere I turned something was getting harvested, overall though no complaints on that, just pushes people to get crafty, and by doing that a lot of the game's mysteries get solved quickly.

Anyone know a good way to filter the chat? If I do a vicinity setting, I get NPC spam.

I think if you check your newsstand/bookstore you can still find copies of Beckett's Massive Online Gamer with SW: TOR on the cover. Sept/Oct 2009 Vol 4, No. 5 Issue 20.

There is a small pull-out featurette on Fallen Earth explaining builds, crafting, factions, etc...

It also has an item code for Brass Goggles.

As explained in the Magazine: "A limited edition pair of third level brass goggles that perform like a seventh level item, providing some protection to the wearer from piercing, fire, cold, and ballistic damage."

I remember towards the end of open beta one of the GMs said to uninstall, and run a registry cleaner. I have my reciept from the pre-order. Just waiting to re-download the client closer to release.

went with the ATV pre-order so Icarus gets a little more dev money :) I can always "craft" up a horse in game.

If you like games like the classic Anarchy Online, SWG and Eve Online, you will notice some similarites in gameplay. The only thing close to a theme park in this game is the quest system, also there are many roads to leveling, combat and crafting.

I am still trying to craft my token board:) haven't found the recipie

Token board?

resources are found through various nodes around the world, metal, refuse, vegetation, mineral/ores, and yes through mobs. You can kill the mob, loot whatever it has, then you can harvest it.

you can harvest:

Mammals, Insects, mutants, reptiles, so that ups your chances of finding resources you need.

you can salvage items you have crafted as well, for example you make a shirt. you skill up a bit in armorcraft and decide it's time for a new shirt, so you get the next level skillbook, craft your new shirt and equip it.

Now you can either A) sell it to a vendor, another player, etc. or B) you can salvage it to get some of the mats back that you used to craft the item.
