Considering the state the game is in people on here are extremely easy on it.

Age of Conan Sieges [Vid] more massive than any other MMO?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 4/18/13 5:38:31 AM
DaoC, WAR, Lineage 2, GW2 all have ( or had in the case of DaoC ) infinitely more massive sieges. Defining massive as the amount of animations is grasping for straws - or a pretty good troll.

Rift was the game the game they blatantly copied for. The name giving rifts are a ripoff of WAR's public quests for example and a poor one at that ( Same applies to the "events" in GW2, though they at least offer some variety ). |

In the lower zones, people will either be helpful or ignore you completely. Elitism is fortunately restricted to nightmare groups, but there it is rampant.
I would highly recommend joining a Cabal as the mechanics of the game itself do not support grouping and social interaction in general outside of the dungeons. |

Even with that armada of employees Trion appearantly aren't able to keep up with the tight schedule the game/show mix requires though. They'll sort things like the prehistoric patcher out eventually, but probably not before the first season of the show is over. |

Originally posted by Bigdaddyx You're mixing up going for realism with lack of options. I guess everyone can agree there should be a lot more choices for pretty much every feature of your character you can alter, including ones not usually found in Caucasians.
That's something entirely different than what the guy you quoted was talking about though and he is spot on. |

Originally posted by detlik There will be no miracle patch, not on the 15th, not ever. If you don't want to deal with the current worst UI in MMO history and the small kinks surrounding every release, put it off for now.
Originally posted by SupportPlayerMM What you're talking about is internal testing, something entirely different.
Why does a company doing its job and fixing up the product they already sold to customers deserve a cheer anyway ? That should go without saying. |

Ooooorr the game is just a quick cash grab, charging a premium box price for a substandard product and then selling small bits of content for additional fees. Like, you know, plenty of people on this board have warned before release.
Comparing Defiance to recent titles in the genre, GW2 and Secret World come to mind, paints a pretty clear picture and that's with all the problems FunCom's latest game itself had and has considered. |

Yep. And not a single word by Trion themselves on the issue yet...They could easily calm the storms by just giving people with the pre order keys registered temporary access to the game until the actual game keys are sent out, but appearantly they're trying to just sit it out and do nothing. |

Tons of players being locked out of the game because Trion sent various retailers only a pre-order-key and no actual game key is indeed April fools, but not of the good kind. How the f did they not notice this ?

Dirges are argueably the best support class, but Illusionists are very useful as well and good ones much more rare in my experience ( Freeport Server these days, might be different on others ).
Personally I picked a Beastlord and that's because I wanted to play a Kerran martial arts character. Used to be a Bruiser at release, but...let's not go there. |

UI on the PC is dreadfully horrible and no, it does not get better if you played the alpha for months rather than just the beta weekends.

Do you need a season pass to enjoy this game to its full advantage?

Originally posted by cm01 GW2 pretty much is and other than a few trolls these forums predicted as much.
There were plenty of posters, including me, calling SWToR a decent single player RPG with some lacking MMO elements tacked on though, which turned out to be pretty accurate.
That's mmorpg.com forums 2:0 viral marketers.
PS: 25 quids ? Where ? At that price I just might grab a copy. |

It's not really a bad game, riding on a quad bike through the post apocalyptic wasteland and blowing mutant brains out with a large variety of weapons is fun. For a while.
Unfortunately the gameplay is rather shallow and as a stand alone MMO the game in its current state doesn't really cut it in today's way oversaturated market. We'll see how the tie in with the show actually works. A couple months in at reduced price I just might buy it afterall, not now though. |

Don't believe everything you read on the internet and especially not the guys you heard this from.

They really need to admit defeat and let go of their obsession with e-sports. Won't work and hardly anyone cares about it anyway. That would allow some easing up on the controlled environment in sPvP, maps with different objectives in particular. Using one game mode with only minimal deviations across all maps is what is preventing more builds from being viable. You have to min/max for it or you'll be at a big disadvantage.
Overall GW2 is one of the better games recently released or upcoming in regards to PvP though. The combat system is robust, the balancing ( in PvP ) excellent and the maps that do exist are well designed. Compare that to complete failures in the PvP department like The Secret World or Defiance and there is a world of a difference.
ArenaNet just need to get off their asses and wake up to reality rather than pursueing their "vision" of e-sports no matter how often their customers tell them it's BS. |
