Originally posted by Cavadus I logged into Earthrise last week. If you saw my original post on this thread you would know that my last log in was recent. AFTER the patch. I lagged, the chat lagged, the environment lagged, the abilities lagged. Wanna question my rig? its pretty tight with plenty of mem and I can play (thus far) anything on it at decent settings. But that's OK, keep spreading the untruth. When people spend their money on that steaming pile, experience the lag, they will know who to flame. |

Originally posted by 2can As you should. Both games have mechanics that work and are polished and I enjoy them. Sure I want a change, which is why I tried (again and again) Earthrise. In its current state it sucks. But by all means man, go spend your money on it. It's a free country. |

IE: "Given enough time on a gaming forum, all comparisons or insults are eventually related to the MMO World of Warcraft." ;) |

Originally posted by Adun Yes, Adun, my post was well written...short and to the point. I stated how I felt about the game clearly and succinctly and most importantly WHY I felt that way (and if someone that has been playing MMOs alleges terms like "poor mechanics" and "no direction" are "blanket" they need to stop playing. My niece is 12 and she is a gamer that understands those terms relative to MMO gaming). I also threw in the details of several attempts I made to have faith in the game, give it a chance, hope for the best. And then I rounded out my statement with the blunt truth...the game is garbage in its current state. Sorry man, but I don't "roleplay" about burning a candle as penance. I give it to you straight with no chaser. Sorry if that wasn't eloquent enough for you. Your posts on the other hand have been quite frankly childish. And yes, You are a prime example of the toxic community that I referred to. I will have to thank you for proving my point there. Now, back to the hot mess otherwise known as Earthrise....
I really don't have much more to say about it. But I will say this: And this is to you Adun: stop telling people there is no lag in the game. That's a ballfaced lie. And as long as you keep telling that lie here, I and others will be there to oppose it. Cause you know why? People come to MMORPG for better or worse, but to get the skinny on MMOs without being under the bias of the game's official forums. Contrary to popular belief, people actually want to find a great game....let me repeat that...people WANT to find a great game to feed thier MMO hobby. When people express displeasure for a game it is because in some way that game disappointed them. MMORPG is the forum that allows people to be very honest about their experiences in a game. And to tell players something about a game that too many know is simply not true is a violation of the spirit of these forums. You would do better off on the official forums where mods can delete the negative posts, MMORPG is NOT the place for you.
So in closing I say to all prospective buyers of ER: don't waste your money as I did. The game has serious issues with lag, mechanics and has no direction. If you have money to burn and need your scifi MMO fix your better off going to EVE or (and Im serious) Anarchy Online. Both of these games have helpful communities (EVE is rather elitists but they know their stuff), in depth game mechanics (builds, market, crafting) and no elves.

Originally posted by Adun Yeah, WOW and RIFT. Because there are so many GARBAGE games like ER what other choice is there? Keep talking shit, TR closed and so will ER. The TR community was obtuse as well and they helped in the ruination of that game. ER will share the same fate. |

Originally posted by Caldicot The problem is "we" ( as in us, the consumers) don't really know what we want. We are fickle and our tastes change like someone with a bad wardrobe: lots of changes, very few surprises. Devs need to keep their finger on the pulse of the gaming community, but when they do all they feel is staccato.
I think the most successful MMOs will have certain key elements that are universal (short list: ability to solo to max, pvp, decent end game). Then take a few new tricks ("shineys") and throw them in the mix to appeal to our fickle tastes. Eventually a developer will come up with the new trick that actually sticks to the wall and hence will have a success. I actually don't think its that complicated. |

Originally posted by camelguy ^This. I bought ER a few months ago and tried it...it was terrible. I would log in periodically to see how the game fared. It was still terrible. Logged in today to see if the patch improved things....still a joke. LAG, No direction, Poor mechanics, toxic community for the most part.
I'm done. Uninstalling that total piece of garbage. And I will be letting my buddies that were interested in it know to NOT bother wasting thier hard earned cash. This is simply put crimminal theft of player money. |

Thats why I quit as well, the combat was awkward and the animations were bad. Not to mention it took 1000 bullets to kill one thing. :( |

As I thought..."vaporware". At this point I'll beleive it when I see it. Thanks for the replies. |

That whole walking in stations thing, did that ever happen in EVE? Been away for a while. |
|
|
I downloaded patch, logged in..the game is still a laggy pos. Stop the false advertising please. |
|
|
I have no idea what Xyson is, but my advice is stay away from that broken/beta/launched-to-early hot mess that is known as Earthrise. I am currently trying to get my $50 bucks back that I paid for that total POS "game". I am ashamed that MMORPG.Com has even allowed that game to advertise on their site.
You would think after so many bad examples that have launched in the past few years that the makers of ER would know better. No one wants to play a lagfest piece of garbage that has no polish and is unfinished. Give me my hard-earned money back Masthead!

Thanks for the honest review. I am currently trying to get a refund for that buggy excuse for a game. |

I'm desperate for a scifi MMO in a sandbox (thats NOT EVE) so I guess I'll drop a dime too, but sheesh that beta vid looks like crap! |

What I would love to see in a EQOA for the PS3, mistakes of eoqa and visions of a future eqoa title
General Discussion « EverQuest Online Adventures 1/07/11 5:59:10 PM
I played EQOA at launch. It was my first MMO. I will always remember those days. That game was a wonderment. I have too many fond memories to even sample as it would take 10 pages. DFC...classic. Vox Castle...classic. Open world with danger and mystery. Farming rare mobs for rares (ie: My Emerald robe and my Sporemesh). Playing my shaman diviner (to date the BEST avatar/class I have ever played). Raiding all night. Plane of sky, Plane of Disease. The long runs to camps.
Best memories ever. If EQOA 2 came out updated for PS3 (or any game console) Id be back in a heartbeat.
Love you, EQOA.

Where have the cool healers gone?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/28/10 3:55:24 AM
I love being a healer as well. Have played healers as main in every MMO that I have played that has them incorporated into gameplay: EQOA Shaman EQ2 Shaman AOC Shaman WOW Shaman/Priest Tabula Rasa Medic etc. I love healing and being needed as well. However that being said, I do think it was a good idea for current MMO design to become less dependent on healers. The fact is alot of players in the genre DO NOT like playing healers, so altho it may make those that do more wanted, it certainly causes a shortage that may stifle players. Making healing interesting and fun has been a major innovation in MMOs. I think WOW got it down with the ability to switch specs/talents so that healing may be versatile and not encumber the development of groups. Good healer will always be wanted/needed, but I think moving away from being completely healer dependent was a good idea. |

Giving EQ2 a month, a Ratonga's adventure (with pictures!).

Originally posted by Fluxii Yes EQ2 did copy WOW. I played EQ2 for 2 years and started at Launch. At launch it was a completely different game. Let's see what they added that was in WOW first: 1. Quest indicators over NPCs 2. Solo content (even tho its still insufficient) 3. Battlegrounds 4. Easier crafting 5. Faster travel Not to say that WOW invented these things, but it certainly had them BEFORE EQ2 did. I am not sure what Blizz copied from EQ2 since it is "known" to copy. Please provide an example. No one is saying that the number of subs is an indicator of the BEST game, what is the best game anyway? There is no definition. However in everyway from graphics, ease of use, art design, scripted encounters and PVE content, etc. WOW beats EQ2 hands down. To deny that the atronomical number of subs WOW has is not an indicator of better overall design (ie: one that appeals to many) is simply being in denial for the sake of, well, being in denial. |

Originally posted by Fluxii I'm not sure how EQ2 with its abandoned landscapes beats another game. Please explain? How many server mergers has EQ2 had now? One? Two? And the "hype" machine only goes so far...Blizz does things right. In fact it did things so right that EQ2 copied alot of elements from WOW. So please stop putting out your personal opinion as tho it is a fact....its only your opinion. Nothing more.
EQ2 has serious population issues, and it has for some time. It also has classes that are excrutiatingly boring to solo to level. That was enough to make me cancel. |
