Please.

Stop calling WAR cartoony.

You can say all you like or dislike about it.

But if you think it's cartoony, you have no artistic sense. You must have no eyes.

You must be playing on a braile keyboard through command prompts with microsoft sam TTS.

Just because something is fantasy doesn't mean it is cartoony.

Lighting, colors, shading, anatomy, architecture, nature, textures... ALL of that is very quite relatively realistic. It looks nothing like WoW.

I don't care if you don't like the graphics.

Please just stop calling it cartoony.

Or you'll look stupid.

And hurt my brain.

I do not expect WAR to stomp WoW. I do not expect it to even compete with 10m subs.

Nor do I want it to steal all WoWs subs away. There are many kinds of people who play WoW that I would not like to see play WAR.

One thing is for sure. I am almost completely confident that WAR will be a relative success. Bigger than any game since WoW, at least. I would not be at all surprised if it becomes the second most 'successful' mmorpg ever to date.

Many people will probably play WAR and go back to WoW. That happens with all MMOs. Many people tried WoW and went back to whatever game they were playing before that.

But many people will probably stay with WAR.

I believe I am one of them. I also believe that there will be enough of them to deem WAR a major success.

Maybe it's buggy and not displaying properly. For a while, the US client showed ALL servers as Full / Full, and I know that was far from the truth at 2AM pst.

Are you kidding me? I'm glad you can speak for everyone.

I enjoyed WoW for a while, it became boring and a sad last resort sort of MMORPG for me, since competition has been so poor. Now, I am dead tired of WoW, I've played it to DEATH.

But you know what? WAR is a long awaited breath of fresh air, and I love it.

Who says he means potential of features?
Maybe he means potential for success.
WAR doesn't need "potential" in it's features, because they have already met great standards.

I think it is. I kinda agree, though...

Going to the major city of my faction helped a lot with immersion and cause.

That will only help so much, but you should check it out if you haven't :)

I completely agree with the OP...

Actually...

I think the graphics are AWESOME...

I don't know what YOU guys see when you play this, but it looks nothing like WoW to me.

I played WoW for YEARS, and this looks SO MUCH BETTER.

It's not even the same style.

So what, you got elves and dwarves? Is that it?

I'm led to believe most MMORPG players have no artistic sense or distinction about them.

Oh well, at least I enjoy it. I enjoy it a lot!

I'm surprised so many people would choose "Bad by any standard"... Because, really... That doesn't make much sense!!!

Beta is the lowest standard you could have (besides alpha, which really, give me a break, the game is too polished and has too much content for that), so bad by any standard wouldn't make it any worse, and it wouldn't make it necessarily any better. Pretty ambiguous.

Saying it's good by any standard is like saying it exceeds beta standards.

Saying it's bad by any standard is like saying it doesn't exceed beta standards... And nor should it, because it's IN beta, so judging it by any other standard would be unfair regardless!

I'm not being a WAR fanboy... I'm being a grammar fanboy.

I have played many classes... I think the balance is pretty good right now...

As far as the Tank DPS thing... I don't know that I agree...

When I played Sorceress to level 20, I ALWAYS did the most damage in a scenario, even without a healer. Maybe not ALWAYS, but 95% would probably be no exaggeration.

Starting out as a witch elf is rough because of the lack of skills, but past level 6ish, it can be pretty smooth sailing. From there, it has not been very uncommon for me to top the damage charts (70% of the time maybe), even without a healer as well.

I was never so fortunate with any of the tanking classes.

In my experience, every class is good at taking down different classes, respectively... And the number of classes one can take down more efficiently doesn't seem to be poorly balanced.

The only thing is how raw DPS the Sorc/BW is. It's not particularly good at soloing or taking down any one specific thing. In fact, it's pretty poor at it. The key with Sorc/BW is to avoid fire, AoE, and wreak havoc to as many people as you can... It's kind of a group reliant DPS class to play in RvR.

On the whole, this game seems very group oriented concerning RvR, and I think the balance is there. I like it.

I feel the same. WAR is bland and boring.

I played for a few hours to level 10, but I can't make myself login anymore. I didn't want to play AoC again before they added the promised features (dx10, pvp system, itemization, HL content,...) (haven't played since my 30 days went out in June), but yesterday when reaching lvl 10 in WAR I was so bored that I resubbed to AoC and logged right into the Field of Dead and ... WOW, there is so much atmosphere in AoC (even with the unfortunate zoning), WAR just has no atmosphere in comparison... bland and boring. Overall it felt like I was playing WOW, but the 4 years older WOW has much better pve gameplay. As for the rvr, it was fun for a short while, but that's it.

I'm not trying to bash the game here, it's just that those cartoon games aren't for me anymore. I think WAR is the first game I left at lvl10, I even played free  2 play games for longer than that. I had much more fun in Shayia, Rappelz and Perfectworld than I had in WAR; and those games are free...

I am not attacking you, or your opinion (you're entitled to it of course) but I can't help but think you might be overlooking WAR.

Personally... Many WAR PQs I've experienced in ranks 1-10 on various characters are much more fun and exciting than most PvE experiences of WoW's levels 1-59. So if you're comparing WAR ranks 1-10 PQs to WoW's lvl 60+ raiding, I think that's a bit unfair... I hear some high level PQs are very difficult, require full coordinated warbands, similar to raids. And If you mean instances, WAR has dungeons. Same thing, pretty much.

I can't compare it to AoC, I never felt the game (AoC) was worth purchasing... But WAR is definitely not very cartoony to me (very pretty too)... Not like WoW. Textures, structures and characters all look pretty realistic to me. Character models look fantastic to me... Surprisingly real looking. There are many fictitious things in the game, but I dont think that makes it 'cartoony'. Just fantasy. If this game doesn't look "realistic", then I can't think of any fantasy games that DO. Guess that's just another opinion thing.

Yep, in exactly the same way WOW failed to Eq2, DDO, AOC and others.

Warhammer will be a very niche game.  Very limited pve, very zergfest style pvp (you run in, do as much damage as possible and then die).  There isn't nearly the depth of gameplay as WOW has.

Warhammer will end up with 400k to 500k subscribers compared to WOW which is at 10.9 million right now and will probably hit 12M when wraith is launched.

Warhammer is just another in a long series of overyhyped games that isn't 'finished'.  I mean, heck, the NDA has not even been lifted for 75% of the game.  Nobody knows what (and if) the endgame will be like.  It could be another AOC that is hiding behind the NDA because the core endgame will not be ready at launch.  Why hide behind an NDA... heck, WotLK didn't have an NDA for a month now, and it won't be out until a month after Warhammer.

But yeah..  everyone should enjoy those first 20 levels of Warhammer, it's probably all you will get (ask AOC players how it works).  Then you'll spend 6 months at endgame waiting for the devs to fix city seiges.

Ha.. Hahaha.. Hahahahaha! Have you actually played WAR?? Or WoW for that matter???

Did I just fall victim to a troll??................. You really can't be serious.............................................. Please?

I believe that people have the choice to play or not to play the game.  Many of us like monotony and simple things.  Sometimes it's fun to have your mind challenged, but if you are working hard all day many times thats not what you are looking for.

Mr. Flyte, I mean no harm when I refer to you as "my son" or "my children." When I say these things, I am trying to show love. I am trying to show affection to my darling angels who roam this forum. I love you all with all my heart and I will do everything in my power to see that you all are happy and well.

I am the King

I am the Bear.

And by the way, I am not roleplaying. I am being real. This is who I am. If you don't like it. I suggest you pay a visit to room 101 and dance with the Crimson King.

I love it when you refer to me as your child

It makes me all tingly inside..

It makes me feel like someone is trying to preach gospel to me.  If that makes said person happy so be it, but I am not a fan of people trying to convert others to a type of belief.

Flyte, son, I am not trying to preach to you. I am trying to help you. I am trying to make you smile. Can't you see that my boy? Can't you see the true meaning behind my ways. I am the King for gods sake, I AM THE KING!!!!

I have a job to do and I must do it well. I must do it, or else I will be sent to hell. Let me hold your hand my little teapot, LET ME HOLD YOUR HAND!!!!!!!

3) Our Oceanic servers are not yet live, we hope to have them up at the same time we are putting up the new servers for the newly invited CE customers. Hopefully, both the Oceanic and CE servers will be up by the middle of next week, no promises though.

4) Invites are going out on a rolling basis so if you didn't receive any invite yet, no worries.

So for all those complaining or worrying about not getting their CE invite yet... No worries...

Looks like a bunch more may get invited before the servers even go up.

And here I am, spamming the login client several times an hour!

I applied like... THE DAY the applications started...

GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB

2GB RAM

Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6400 2.13GHz

...And I never got accepted until CE invites.

"Some" are being invited, but that is no mystery and nothing new to beta phases of MMORPGs. I don't see the problem there. If you are sad you weren't one of the first wave, that's understandable... But that's no reason to think Mythic did anything wrong.

Exact dates and details are hardly ever given concerning any MMORPG. If you have been in the business for any considerable amount of time, this should not be new to you. While it's understandable that it's frustrating, it doesn't really put Mythic behind the rest.

The torrent really isn't THAT slow; not for all of us. I finished mine in a few hours, averaging around 900KBps. That's actually quite GOOD IMO. Torrents are also pretty reliable versus traditional ftp.

Now, as far as the distribution of codes.. That is probably your only somewhat legitimate complaint. That, too, is somewhat the fault of retailers.. Concerning the fault of Mythic, I have seen much more intelligently delivered beta access codes. (IE, distributing boxes labelled CE/SE Pre-Order with the codes inside would've prevented most of the retailer mistakes.)

All things considered, it's really not that terrible.

It's ok... They didn't even start the servers for us...

I would've perhaps preferred not even being invited yet, so I wouldn't be sitting here trying to log on 5 times an hour...

I played Perfect World mostly at it's English version release..

I made it to level 80 within the first couple months and was among some of the highest levels around..

Then, the grind killed me.

At that point, all I could do to level up was fight random mobs.. And only at 10 hours straight of consistent killing would I see another level... Couldn't do it!

But I did have fun with the game on my way there.

It's not bad to try, especially because it's free.

Having a death penalty would force more players to do some thinking, use some strategy. Victory and loss would both have more effect and in turn be more stimulating... Who on Earth would want that?!

Sarcasm aside.. Death penalty is great if executed well.. Nothing HUGE but nothing players can easily scoff at.

Look at any classic intelligent competitive game.. Chess, for instance. You don't recklessly throw all your pieces out at your opponent for fear of losing them permanently, making it harder to win, contributing to your loss... And if your chess pieces just "respawned" at your side of the board... That would completely ruin the game... Victory isn't inconsistent for intelligent players who are good at chess, either.

It's easy to understand players not wanting to lose anything.. But really.. I think that's a reflection of poor sportsmanship.
