Fansite summit: impressions from the previews (compilation)
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/30/11 7:56:48 AM
This is an awesome post, thanks!
I am still reading it, but so far it's like a shrunken encyclopedia of must know things about TOR. |

My 2c's...
Give it a couple of years before they start working on it, let's see how SW:TOR goes. This way they can learn from their mistakes. Also waiting will have the added bennifet of letting technology improve so they can do a ton more stuff. Time is all I ask for, I know there is going to be mistakes made in TOr, even if it's awesome, pvp comes to mind here. This is the 1st time BioWare does anything PvP and from the get go, everyone and their mothers will have some sort of root :(
I'm a big fan of Star Wars, but I'm a bigger fan of Mass Effect and when it is made into an mmo, I want it to rule the world! |

I will play it only on the Tier 2 level, everything else is like begging someone to pull your nose hairs! Reason why is after T2, the match making system gets brain farts and puts King Tigers up against Panthers. While on paper, they are a good match, in practice, KT will always win. Thats just a mild example too, 4 IS7's vs 1 IS7 and 3 JagdTigers or whatever, it's not fun to watch and always seems like you're on the wrong side of the match. ...aannnddd then you have Arty! While they are uselfull, they make having a high tier tank or TD useless. They eat slow moving targets for lunch. Everyone hates Arty, everyone hates their UAVs, able to see the entire map and shoot with GPS percision. Just not fun.
Basically, all these problems do not exist at the T2 level and those are some of the most fun battle of ny game I've played as far as MMOs go that use a match making system. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Two Years and Counting
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/28/10 2:22:26 AM
Didn't Bioware show their hand too early because of a result of someone finding their secret website of what we now know as the SW:TOR forums? It was on this very forum that it was 1st posted that let the cat out of the bag. After he posted it here on mmorpg.com like three days later Bioware announce SW:TOR was under developementy. They didn't want to announce anything initially because they wanted a working game to show off as they announced it, according to interviews I saw in the early days of BioWare saying they started making their secret MMO. |

MMORPG.com Game List Ranking System is Flawed
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/27/10 7:21:29 AM
It is even more flawed/complicated then we even know (my opinion). When a new game 1st comes out, it is usually rate 9.9 sometimes even at 10. So when that happens, a game that was previously rated at 7.0 will get bumbed down to to the mid 6's. I asked about this in the past and all I got was a bunch of people must have also gave zero's to everyone else while they voted for their game to be on top. In the end though, all ratings get normalized after two or three hundred voted into the game. |

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why is TFU-II so cheap, selling at $39.00 and not the usual $49.00? I wasn't going to get it until the price dropped, but it looks like the price dropped before it went on sale |

Do you want the bad news first or the bad news?
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 6/30/10 7:50:08 AM
Why the EU writers didn't also create Unicorns with Light-Saber horns along with their Zombie Troopers, I will never understand
The good news in this bad news is that he's only a developers in that he doesn't create content, only rather he developes content (i mean he brings them to life in-game). The bad news in my book is that as a developer he will have some influence, even if it's very very small, with the rest of the developement team. Just for shits and giggles, I took a look at my old server, Bloodfin, which at the hight of SWG was the second most active server and there are now month old post still on the first page and half the posts are complaining about how baren the servers are.
Yes the game is dying, or rather, has been dying since the CU and/or NGE. |

These games are very old and I can't believe there are people out there still playing them; although I can see it happening if their only concern is the community and their progress.
A new list of "Five Longest Running MMOs" should be redone to games of the modern era, i.g. EQ, SWG, etc... However, this modern list of oldest running games maybe a coupld of years from now. I only bring it it because the market has so many MMOs that it's hard sifting through the pool of games to notice the older games. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Two Million Subscribers Possible
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/18/10 10:30:04 AM
They are probably betting on a lot of the ME/ME2 and DAO fans hopping on over to SWTOR too. If that's their thinking and it works out to be the case, than they probably could have two million easy. |

Has the dev team or anyone else made mention to bringing over the planet offer's city layouts to the solo-play mode? The solo-play is very limited unlike the planet offer layouts.
Also, has there been any mention of being able to trade with out other cities in solo-play? That would kick ass, managing a couple of cities specialized to certain products. |

Microsoft Star Wars: The Old Republic 2011 Ultimate Edition?

I will hold my opinions on if this is good or not until I learn a little bit more about how MS runs games. I can't recall them creating (other then VG) any MMOs so I can't really give a good opinion. I do like some of their games, but in this case they aren't creating a game, rather just buying a game company.
Good find though, thanks Obraik. |

Although it's not an MMO (YET!), I would like to see Mass Effect as a movie. I believe it could rival Star Wars in it's cult following.
Now City of Heroes/Villians would be a kick ass movie, it already reminds me of the last mutant heroes movie, I just forgot the name atm. |
