Thanks for the heads up, this will give me an excuse to try out AOC, $5, can't beat that

However, the GBs and GBs of files to download might turn me off too haha...

If you look at Microsofts trackrecord regarding Vanguard they have a near perfect trackrecord. Heck MS pulled out of Vanguard long before Beta when they saw where that piece of shit project was heading. Management and cost controll where all but absent at Sigil. So the numbercrunshers at MS did what they had to do. Leave the sinking ship early and cut their losses.

Good point...

I will hold my opinions on if this is good or not until I learn a little bit more about how MS runs games.  I can't recall them creating (other then VG)  any MMOs so I can't really give a good opinion.  I do like some of their games, but in this case they aren't creating a game, rather just buying a game company.

Good find though, thanks Obraik.

Although it's not an MMO (YET!), I would like to see Mass Effect as a movie.  I believe it could rival Star Wars in it's cult following.

Now City of Heroes/Villians would be a kick ass movie, it already reminds me of the last mutant heroes movie, I just forgot the name atm.

Haha, I like the toon in his skivies, did you guys do this mmorpg.com?

Nowhere in that piece of information was there anything to suggest how big or small the world itself would be. So how do you figure it's non-massive? I mean, come on...

It's called straws

Someone is grasping for them

I'm currently not playing any MMOs, so hopefully DA will keep my attention for a while as I wait for TOR

It's MMO'esk in a way, right?

You need a new option, "Both."

I'm playing both but ME2 is where I'm really waiting for, I can't wait to continue the story I started in ME1 + the books.

Did it come out today?  I thought it was being released on Tuesday?

Good to know, I'll go to the store later and see if it's on the shelves.

What idiot thinks he could demand that someone else retires? Mind your own business already. If you dont like his products, dont buy them.

You can't kill the guy for having an opinion and also you have to open your mind a bit on this topic if you are a Star Wars fan.  Fans who love Star Wars don't want to wake up one day and George Lucas announced he's making a new Star Wars movie where all the main actors are unicorns with glowing light-saber horns

Fans who love Star Wars appreciate the role Lucas played and while true we could just not buy his product if we feel it has move on to another level we don't like; the greater gripe is that fans (die-hard fans) don't want the Star Wars Universe to get watered down into something like what the Star Trek line of movies the Next Generation crew turned into.  While still good, they kind of didn't fit into the overall story line of the Star Trek world (I'm mainly talking about the ST: Nemesis).

Im not that kind of fan of anything. George Lucas is clearly a very succesfull businessman. But then some MMO player comes along who thinks he should retire because some of the ip doesnt turn out the way he likes. Its one thing to just dont like what it turns out to be, but its arrogant to think that George Lucas should retire because of that.

Its their ip, not yours. And its a business if you like it or not. You either like their ip or you dont.

I really think that so called 'fans' who think they have a say in someone elses business retarded. Like all that preNGE crap for SWG. Its just mental.

...again, it's just an opinion, nobody is telling George to retire, just throwing out his opinion on the matter.

For example, I think ninja's > pirate's, but you might think pirate's > ninja's.  Get it?  It's just an opinion, no matter who is really better because its an abstract argument with no facts to support the original opinion.

Basically all in good fun

FYI...

Hey everyone,

For those of you who missed it, last week we put up our latest Fan Friday which announced our presence at both GamesCom and the Penny Arcade Expo. If you happen to be a Facebook user and planning on attending either of these, check out our page on Facebook and mark your attendance.

Speaking of GamesCom and PAX, I wanted to go ahead and let all of you know things may be a little quiet around here for the next few weeks. For example, this week's update with be Threat of Peace #12.

After we get through these next few weeks, we have a lot of content in store for all of you. Our updates at the convention (and after them) will also include updates to the website for those of you who can't join us there. And yes, there will be some new reveals as well as the Gameplay Demo Walkthrough video.

For those of you who normally just check in for our weekly updates and want to know what's going up before coming to the site, we have a few things for you.

If you're using a RSS Reader, make sure to add The Old Republic RSS News to it.

We also bring the information to the places you are at; whenever we have an update on the official website, we also bring these releases to you on some of the social networks. You can find pages for The Old Republic at the following:

Maybe a clarification is in order on the score.  I thought it was on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being unplayable while 10 it was completely playable and perfect.

If you read his article, the 6 would fit based on the above logic; however I don't remember if that logic applied to reviews or it was used only in other parts of the mmorpg.com website.

I don't see this scenario as a bad thing, yes it would suck for those who are a reroll and trying to gear up quick, but that is what guilds are for.

I did everything possible to be the best rogue/paladin I could and every so often we get a new guildie who wants to join in and play with the big boys and girls without having completed any Heroics or at least the ones he needs to get into a basic 25-man raid.  Why should I carry a guild member who won't put in the time to improve their character?  However, for good guilds this is a rarity.

Pugs are brutal and usually when I see chat asking for pug members with stats/achievements, it is because someone key (healer/tank) didn't show up and they decided to pug that spot that week.  True pug raids usually just try to get whoever they can, but in the rare case they get overwhelmed with requests to go, than they pull out the stat/achievements card.

A good rule of thumb, don't pug at the beginning of the reboot, because those are usually the people who never get a chance to raid and aren't expecting to raid that week.   Later in the week (Sunday/Monday) are usually for those who missed their regular raid spot and are just looking to get in some raid time that week for the tokens or whatever.

Why isn't Mortal Online on the list? It is a game that has huge potential and could very well be what defines future sandbox MMORPGs or it could just as much be a disaster like Darkfall. But still, it has some huge potential.

You forgot to mention why it has huge potential.  Jon Wood did mention MO in his opening statements and he also said if you wanted it mentioned, go for it and say why you think so

Maybe no one is reading CCPs pathetic excuse for updates on their Eve-Onlines site, but they (within the last month and a half) stated there will be no and HAVE no intentions of there being any walking within the stations. There by leaving a huge block of us pissed that they cannot hold to promises - and of course a huge percentqge of us will be heading to STO....so, im curious as to why you didnt know that before making this list? You mention that as a large reason why its got potential however thats a pipe-dream thats NOT happening.

Anyone who's been playing EVE should know CCP has NO plans to make walking in stations a reality.....

Haha, potential my friend, not what is being made to be, but rather potential, nothing more, nothing less.  Whether they make station walking or not, he's talking about the potential it could have

I'll side with the, "he should stick to canon" crowd.  I enjoyed both trilogies, even though most did not like the newer trilogy.  He does a great job of putting pieces to the story together over the six movies.

The reason I think he should step down from making movies is, I've heard him in a coupld of interviews now where he has said he's done making movies.  It sounds like he's giving up and for him to step back in would not be the best thing for the Star Wars IP.  However, it's basically his story, he is in control of how it's played out and should still have a say in what gets added to canon and what characters can be killed off in games, movies, books, etc...

I do want to see a new set of movie trilogies, but I don't want them to be made by G. Lucas.  I want them to be made by a newer generation who grew up admiring Star Wars.  Someone who will stick to canon and still have the ability to create an epic tale and plaster it on the silver-screen.

"Jerks" ...HAHA

This was a good read and a good list of games to boot.

Using your rules, I will wholeheartedly agree that Eve has potential, but I would have placed it at #1 on my list.  Walking in stations is huge, if it was in-game now, the size of Eve would triple and continue to grow, as long as it was done correctly.  I hear it all the time how people don't play Eve for mainly the only reason being is their character is a ship, that seems to turn off a lot of people.  That will all change once players are allowed to walk around and be their "character."

I would probably leave SW:TOR off my list though, to say it has potential at this point is obvious, but not for what we know, but for what we don't know.  Going by this logic, our list would be huge because of the multitude of games being developed at the moment that we know even less then we know about TOR....Twilight anyone?

Thanks for the interview mmorpg.com

Unfortunately and at no fault of your interviewer, but BioWare/La are stuck in not being able to tell us anything else beyond what they've already told us.  We have to keep in mind the cat got let out of the bag before they were ready to tell the world about the game and we are now feeling the affects.

All, good, when they have info to tell us, I'm sure they will, just sucks having to wait for it

Haha, ignore him, he's spamming every post in anything Star Wars....

I say his arse
