It's 2.5 hours after the patch on the 28th and BioWare Locked it forums.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/28/12 9:54:49 AM
They were down for the maintenance like usual, but as soon as the servers came back up, so did the forums. That is when all the drama began and now they are viewable, but you can't post anything to them.
Good Times! Too bad too, the game was ok'ish, but this kind of stuff just isn't a good sign. |

Sony asks gamers to sign new terms or face PSN ban
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/18/11 8:40:05 AM
I remember BP doing the same thing to it's cleanup crews. They had their new workers sign a contract saying they could not sue BP if they got sick or hurt. I believe the same rules apply here in that BP's contract that they made their people sign would not be enforceable in a court in the US. The reason is that BP (ala Sony) is too big of a company to have an individual sign such a contract and it be honored in a US court. I'm not a lawyer, but this would seem to be the same here. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: TBD to TBA?
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/19/11 5:28:54 PM
I didn't know it was leaked, at least not in the traditional leaked from a secret source. I thought it was based on a source that just released it's info a couple of hours too early based on time-zones or whatever. My bad. In any case, I will confidently say it's most likely not the release date.
Besides, they said they would announce ahead of time when they are about to announce a release date haha. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Do You Really Want a Beta Invite?
News Discussion « General Discussion 6/29/11 9:16:30 AM
I do, but I don't...
BioWare stories are like watching "The Sixth Sense". Once you know what happens, the entire movie is ruined.
Besides, why do Devs even call them beta's? Nothing ever gets fixed during Beta; aren't they more like stress tests? |

We should fear Lucas Arts and what they might do to TOR..ala SWG

I'm not happy the current players lost their game, the majority of them probably did not play the game I loved back in the beginning; I'm just happy $OE lost SWG. I'm also not trying to predict the furture of SW:TOR, I'm just saying I'm just going to be always thinking that what-if scenerio in my head the whole time I play (assuming I love TOR at all). Also, SWG isn't shutting down because of subs, assuming what $med was saying to be true. http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/24/exclusive-smedley-on-the-sunsetting-of-star-wars-galaxies/ He said LA and him agreed that it was best to sunset the game, I took that to mean, LA doesn't want two competing products on the market and one had to go, ala SWG. |

I am probably the most happiest person in the world atm that $OE shut down SWG, up until I found out the reason why it was shut down. In an interview $med did with I think Massively (I'll post the link when I find it), $med mentioned he had a conversation with LA adn they agreed that SWG should be shut down. What that means to me is that LA didn't want two competing products on the market and SWG was the obvious choice to be cut. I just can't help but think what will happen in five years, assuming I really get into SW:TOR and am still playing. What will happen when it gets old and subs are a shell of what they used to be? Does this mean, LA will start another MMO and eventually cut SW:TOR for a better younger model? What I'm getting at is, $OE should have been the one to give up on SWG and not LA; although it is totally in LA's own right to kill the rights to the game. I'm saying what if at one point SW:TOR only has 10k players who are die-hard fans of the game and LA wants more with a newer game? I just hope it doesn't happen, but it's always going to be in the back of my head while I play TOR.
EDIT: inserting link to the interview http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/24/exclusive-smedley-on-the-sunsetting-of-star-wars-galaxies/ |

HAHA, see ya suckers! Although, I'm quit surprised this game has been around as long as it has after the CU, but I suspect that was due to more of pride on smeds part then it was for the game being a success. |

News Discussion « General Discussion 6/13/11 2:29:47 AM
I'm a BioWare fanboy I think, at least I unjoy all their games, but this is BioWare's first MMO. That being said I don't know how it's going to turn out, as in I don't know if I'm going to like it or not.
That being said, I can agree with this statement. It's just nice to look foward to playing a game again. Well, this and ME3 :) |

My 2c's...
Give it a couple of years before they start working on it, let's see how SW:TOR goes. This way they can learn from their mistakes. Also waiting will have the added bennifet of letting technology improve so they can do a ton more stuff. Time is all I ask for, I know there is going to be mistakes made in TOr, even if it's awesome, pvp comes to mind here. This is the 1st time BioWare does anything PvP and from the get go, everyone and their mothers will have some sort of root :(
I'm a big fan of Star Wars, but I'm a bigger fan of Mass Effect and when it is made into an mmo, I want it to rule the world! |

I will play it only on the Tier 2 level, everything else is like begging someone to pull your nose hairs! Reason why is after T2, the match making system gets brain farts and puts King Tigers up against Panthers. While on paper, they are a good match, in practice, KT will always win. Thats just a mild example too, 4 IS7's vs 1 IS7 and 3 JagdTigers or whatever, it's not fun to watch and always seems like you're on the wrong side of the match. ...aannnddd then you have Arty! While they are uselfull, they make having a high tier tank or TD useless. They eat slow moving targets for lunch. Everyone hates Arty, everyone hates their UAVs, able to see the entire map and shoot with GPS percision. Just not fun.
Basically, all these problems do not exist at the T2 level and those are some of the most fun battle of ny game I've played as far as MMOs go that use a match making system. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Two Years and Counting
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/28/10 3:22:26 AM
Didn't Bioware show their hand too early because of a result of someone finding their secret website of what we now know as the SW:TOR forums? It was on this very forum that it was 1st posted that let the cat out of the bag. After he posted it here on mmorpg.com like three days later Bioware announce SW:TOR was under developementy. They didn't want to announce anything initially because they wanted a working game to show off as they announced it, according to interviews I saw in the early days of BioWare saying they started making their secret MMO. |
