Why does Microsoft block MMORPGs for the 360? Time to look at the PS3?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/29/09 5:45:56 AM
God MMORPGs for consoles what a horrible idea... Control will be bad and they'll have to think about how to make it fit when it just works perfectly on PC, I'll never ever play an mmo on a 360 rather than on a PC and it's not like mmos have like insane graphics these days and any low end pc you buy today will run all games , defnititely not what this genre needs right now... |

Why I Support Blizzard Making Their Game User-friendly and not "hardcore"

ohhh an achievement... great fun what can I tell you.. that wasn't grinding that was just pure fun.. I remember going to an highend in "burning crusade" .. it was so funny.. someone just alt tabbed to check tactics on the boss on the web and we downed him first time... I remember doing MC with countless guilds and actually seeing the difference in guilds that can down the first boss and ones who wipe like instantly... it was amazing how thought of MC,BWL,NAX were and how hard time ppl had beating them.. now it's like generic as it gets and the only thing you have to show for is achievement... "kill a boss while eating a strawberry with your eyes closed" gee that's great.. instead of making a boss really hard lets add difficulty features like "Heroic" and stupid stuff like "without any memeber dying". |

What I think he meant was... WoW was at one time, hardcore in the sense that you had to grind your butt off to get anything of great value. Arena gear, high end raid tier gear, some crafted gear. You had to put in the same amount of time to accomplish these goals as any "hardcore" player would, but the problem being that they are all mindlessly silly easy tasks. Tasks requiring little to no thought to accomplish. To a large extent I agree with him. A perfect example, and my favorite one to use, is one from the Burning Crusade expansion raids. There is/was a 25 man raid called Magtheridon's Lair. At the end of the raid, Magtheridon's head would be a lootable item. An item only one person can loot per successful raid. Meaning that since you can only accomplish a given raid once a week, and the same 25 people went every week, it would take one person in that raid 25 weeks to loot Mag's head. 25 weeks or almost 4 months. Four months of effort for one item is in nearly every sense, a "hardcore" undertaking. However, as anyone here can probably tell you, Magtheridon's Lair, if done properly, is probably the easiest and most least thought requiring raid ever to grace the WoW game.
Burning Crusade isn't hardcore at all.. wow classic was hardcore.. the raids were actually difficult and people tried them week after week without succeeding not to mention it's difficult to setup a 40 man raid with people that actually know they're doing that what was great about it.. and that's why not alot of people ever got to NAX.. that was really hardcore. |

Why I Support Blizzard Making Their Game User-friendly and not "hardcore"
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/29/09 2:19:23 AM
Ye , WoW was really hardcore at the begining, the raids were really hard and you had to put tons of time to achieve something "worthy" so called. Blizzard took WoW way away from that and made the game as "easy" and casual as it gets. That left the "hardcore" players shit outta luck since the game became just plain boring on one hand but there is absloutely no game that is even close to replace WoW in it's current state (WAR, AOC, Aion all big disappointments from a "hardcore classic" wow player POV imo) |

How cool would it be to have a artificial life engine!?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/23/09 4:25:07 PM
Most games these days don't even have a consistent world , you talk about a complex thing like artificial intelligence engine? it seems like mmorpgs go more and more to the simpler concepts. |

WOW will eventually decline.soon most likely
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/22/09 11:30:21 PM
As an ex wow player I can tell you there's no GAME right now in the mmorpg genre that gives the same "world" felling World of Warcraft has and I'll be surprised if anything comes anytime soon I waited for aion for a long time and beta tested it for long and it's not even close.. |

The only interesting piece of information from Blizzcon
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/22/09 11:23:53 PM
Rushing games out does lead to shi**y games like WAR , Vanguard, AOC and this list goes on and on , that + lack of talent by developers..anyhow it does suck it takes Blizzard so much time especially when they waste it on the crappy wow expansions they put like zero work in just for the money ( I understand it though ). |

If you can even call it information: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOsk4QcEGMQ
BTW it's really funny how they are going to destroy the last thing left from once great game AKA "Cataclysm" |

Whats wrong with blizzard lately? Lazy and sloppy.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/18/09 4:11:33 PM
They got "lazy" from TBC onward , the original world of warcarft was really made with passion and every part of it was really creative, but since TBC they just copy models and nerf the game to attract to casual to get more epics which are the same models changed slightly. I have no idea why they are "lazy" I guess the developers who worked on the original were just ordered to not put much time into each thing and just release more and more stuff to please the zombie-masses. edit: I remember reading an interview saying that Blizzard didn't expect their game to be so successful so I guess that can be one difference between the original content and the content after success when they smelled the money. |

Originally posted by BioNut It's really simple , people just want to know if this game will have a big open world containing a "Massive" amoune of people concurrently or will this be an instance based game which focus on small groups going into instancing and the outside is mainly for seeing people in the city. There's a huge difference between the two and what you get from them so far is that the game is going to be "Story Based" and we'll have "Full voiced acting" , ye well we got the point.. tell us more information that really matters . |

What main components would you like to see in MMORPGS in 2010 and beyond?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/11/09 2:00:55 PM
As a minimum: Non-instanced huge world. Variation of unique classes and races with unqiue skills that requires customization. Meaningful PVP and PVE system (PVP non instanced, Dunegons can be instanced). Class evolvement and specified quests. More complex questing system than what we have now. Solid combat and movement system that manages to surpass WoW (Bad Example for trying to do so: Aion)
AAA implementation of the above. === Chances for this to happen: 1.7%

New Blizzard title announcement at next Blizzcon?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/07/09 3:48:01 PM
I have a feeling they will only hint about the new mmo and not talk about it openly, I hope I'm wrong though, it's getting pretty boring mmos-in-development wise. |
