Denied.

Blizzard said it's a new IP , Avatar is not their IP thus it will not be it.

---

According to my understanding it's going be starcraft, warcraft, diablo, new IP after this game is released.

lol great news!

Blizzard also stated many many times that they won't allow character transfer from PVE to PVP servers.. so you can't trust their words when it comes to money... I think they proved this last year that money > their word...

this is coming from a Blizzfan btw..

they shoulda just taken another 8 years and release a well fined and polished product they wouldn't need all that bs :)

It's a bad game so no

but generally yes

I really liked this article (even if I'm a programmer)

I got two questions if you don't mind:

- Is it true that working in the gaming industry you get paid less as a programmer in other jobs?

- What jobs exist for a programmer in the gaming industry (in mmorpgs) assuming you don't have art in ya?

Thanks :)

**Forgot to mention when I say a programmer I mean a person with B.Sc degree

Animation is really WoW wanna be , I played this character who had like the exact same jump like undead with the hands and everything.. I know it's whiny but if I wasn't lazy I would make a video and you would see it's just almost 1:1 exactly.

The combat is laggy\buggy which reminds me alot like WAR and AOC, it feels unpolished and if you played WoW for a few years like me  you'll react to it like you reacted to AoC/WAR buggy/laggy combat:"BAHHH".

When I left WoW i joined up with a few buddies and played Eve online. It was a completely different game and it kept me away from wow to this day.

People that are suggesting WoW clones to the op are wrong. Don't play a game that will remind you of WoW play a new type of mmo, go for sci-fi, maybe sandbox or leave the genre altogether and play single player games for a couple years.

EQ2,VG,Lotro, Aion, WAR, AoC are all below average clones. Sure they have a couple good features but overall cannot touch WoW.

If your stuck on fantasy, themepark games only just go back to WoW and roll an alt because none of the other fantasy games compare. It's almost as if people play those games just so they could avoid the most popular mmo on the market.

It's similar to people hating the more popular sports team or rock band because everyone else likes it and they try to rage against the machine.

The fantasy themepark genre is so fucking worthless right now a average game like wow is king its sad.

QFFT

it fits both of the forums.

If the developers of these games didn't think of WoW in 100% of their development process I'm a pony with three noses.

World of Warcraft looks and feel with the poor quality of combat like in AoC/WAR with a bit of it's own theme.

Nothing new or even good, wouldn't play if you played WoW/WAR/AoC.

I'll keep saying it again and again: WAR is a bad game. period. It didn't fail cuz of overhype or whatever, just plain bad.

It's not nice to hear people lose jobs but  I think that if your schedule/budget to create an mmo is what WAR had you're wrong from the get go and that is what you get.. so you can't blame mythic I guess.

I really like the concept , don't like the game though.

This thread is just for people who played the classic and can't really believe where Blizzard took this game..

What I'm referring to is the total sell out of all principles Blizzard had with WoW and the fact they sold it all for money: transfer from PVE to PVP (this is like the least of the sell out), paying more to get triple exp ("invite a friend"), transforming your character to another faction or race (WTF?).. and this is just from the top of my head.

Do you think it's OK Blizzard to sell out the principles which normal players rely on just to attract more newbs to the game and get more money? I mean.. money is money but they were very rich and very successful before that.. are they counting on the fact that there isn't something else to replace WoW?

Don't really crying just giving my opinion, don't take it hard mate. I don't know if you consider D2 what you refer to as a "Dungeon Crawler" but I played D2 for years and Torchlight is like I said a simplified kids version of it, you ask what I expected? I expected some innovation from the guys who helped develope D2 except a a pet and some other minor features (IMO), it's not like this forum very active as it is so no reason not to share opinion :)

Diablo 2 IS a dungeon crawler...

I played D2 for years as well, and I still play it to this very day.

Innovation? when did Runic ever say TL was going to be innovative in any way? You made the mistake of forming what is known as a false expectation, and when the game didn't live up to your expectations of it, you cried fowl.

Explain to me how D2 is more complex than Torchlight in any way, and I might be willing to put some merit in your statement. Show me facts - not personal opinion - that prove TL is a "simplified kids version" of D2.

Put your money where your mouth is.

Ye I thought tourchlight will have some innovation and it won't be simplified version of D2  with almost exact features and characteristics.

That is my opinion thus I post in the forum, if you're looking for facts "You made the mistake of forming what is known as a false expectation.... and cried fowl" and if you're looking for a proof go study differential and integral calculus :>

Yep

Even though what you said is true that doesn't help the game I'll be honest with you.. the responses I read in forums about this game were like mine, people are just feeling that the rushing through floors in that mine killing monsters just bores them and like one guy said in these forums : "Just doesn't have the X factor", maybe the mmo version will bring something new to the table otherwise I think this game is just a bore, they did a very nice job with ogre3d graphics engine though.

Sounds like some people have a hard time grasping what a dungeon crawler is, then feel like crying about it when they get bored due to there own ignorance about what the genre is all about.

If you buy a dungeon crawler, and expect to get more than dungeon crawling out of it, you are kidding yourself right off the bat.

Would you go buy a steak from the grocery store and then complain that it wasn't a roast chicken? when you knew full and what it was when you bought it?

I think not.

I'd describe it as a simplified Diablo 2 version for kids.

I mean.. it's a nice game but I don't see a reason for Diablo 2 players to get excited about this game.

Other than it looks better, plays better, and has some awesome Modding tools coming out?

Classic for the hardcore, TBC and onwards for noobs and worse.

And in the spirit of the OP:

~ Dire Maul Tribute 4ever ~

As a sworn classic wow player that got disappointed from every big title ( AoC,WAR,Aion) I pretty much roam this forum and flame shitty games for being shitty.
