Long dev time is Bliz's trademark. They took their swee time when they launched WoW and look what they created. I assure you, with the experience of WoW in mind they will release a mind-blowing game. Besides, it's Blizzard, you can't be mad at Blizzard.... :D |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Mirrored Classes
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/06/11 7:22:59 AM
Keep this in mind guys. NO ONE LIKES TO LOSE... not even when they mutter that "good game" at the end. They are actualy cursing your guts. Sure, when you play the OP class, it's fun. It's more than fun ... you are a god out there. But for every easy kill you do a player breaks his keyboard and mouse in 2 with his fists. Unballanced classes means a TON of frustrated players that eventually leave the game. I participated in the beta and i personally thought the game was AWESOME! The cutscenes and voiceacting are a VERY nice touch since everyone thinks on how to save space nowadays in mmos, and i found the story to be very very captivating and the world completely immersive. After all, as so many others allready said, it's a RPG before being a MMO. The RPG part is the important one and thy got things covered VERY good. Cheers and see you ingame. I'll be the Sith Marauder ganking your force insensitive azz :D |

World of Warcraft: 11.5M Subscribers Since 2008, Has WoW Peaked?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/11/10 12:35:30 AM
Heya, To answer your question, yeah, i think it has peaked. Why ? It's blizzard's fault. In their quest for cash they unleashed a series of features and allowed some stuff to happen that in the past would have been unthinkable. 1. IMHO the fact that nowadays everything is so easy to earn - gear, raiding etc etc etc is a major turnoff of the players. I heard so many people complaining that the game is too easy now. 2. Name/Race change. That's just stupid. A character is defined by name and race. Why would u allow it to change? 3. Faction change. This is by far the biggest fail blizzard implemented IMHO. |

General: Massey: Why Not A Vampire MMO?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/09/09 3:38:55 AM
Directed towards posters Zomg. I can't belive all this Twilight pro/con! It's a chick flick movie f kring out loud! And wow it had vampires in it. Deal with it! Want another movie that had vampires? Lesbian Vampires Killers! Are you gonna suggest making a mmo after that too? (yes i watch shaite movies as a hobby) Back on the topic I Would LOVE a vampire mmo. But it will never be truly a vampire mmo, more like a mmo that gives u the possiblity to play a vampire. We allready have a precedent in a very successful game that was sucessful - Vampires The Masquerade but not bloodlies that was kinda crap ... try Redemption! You have the vampire clans (factions), you have conflict (between clans and between vamps and other monsters) and ofcourse you can have romance. I seen romance happening in WoW so i belive it will deffinetly happen in a Vampire game :D You could play as a human (with embracing options) a werewolf (shapeshifting options) or a vampire (with no options :)), i mean who needs options as a vampire :P) You could go for a multi timeline game with the possibility to advance through time by sleeping(vamps) hibernating (werewolfies) or offsprings (humans ) like first play in the medieval age then go for the 1700s - 1800s victorian kinda era and then go hardcore in the present day You could visit and play in the same places in different eras and the best thing is the game developers don't have to invent a world! They allready have it for the taking. History! It gives you whatever you need! They can add countries and wars and whateer they want. And the whole ideea would be to make the perfect sand-box mmo. I'm just saying .. it could happen. It takes a lot of vision and a lot of understanding from the fanbase in order to work but i could happen. Crunch on that.
PS : I think the what ifs are excellent Dana. If it wasn't for what ifs humanity would still be living in caves. |

General: Community Spotlight: “Instanced” gameplay is really “offline” gameplay.
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/09/09 2:41:52 AM
1st of all i wanna say that without instancing mmo's would not be as much fun and there would be a lot of frustration and such. Just as someone before me said, imagine you and your group working your azz off to clear a dungeon and just as you are busy with the last set of trash you see a group that was hiding in shadows behind you dash and mark the final boss. How would that feel? Friggin Frustrating that's how it would feel. And since i have quite some experience in mmos (about 5 -6 years i'd say) i can allso tell you that there will allmost always be a lurking group behind you to do that just because they get off in annoying people. On the other hand, if we are to compare instancing i would like to say i LOVE the ideea of instancing for solo play. Let me explain. I've been playing WoW for the last 2 years or so and i think everyone will agree with me that it has an AWESOME story. But there is a problem when you want to do the last 3 quests from a chain that takes you to an instance or a raid. That becomes a problem especialy now when no one will instance with players the same level. Everyone calls up a lvl 80 friend who will farm a lvl 30 -40 instance in less than 15 min (i know cuz i did it for my wife's hunter :D). Recently i picked up Dungeons and Dragons Online and discovered that they implemented the Modes for instances. They have Solo Mode so you can go through with your quest on your own, Normal Mode that deffiently requires a small party, maybe 2 -3 ppl, and Hard Mode that requires a well geared 4+ party. I find this awesome. The rewards fit the dificulty level and everything is hunky dory. I mean i for one go online to play. Socialising is a bonus in my oppinion so when i have to wait fo 30 minutes to get a full party to go anywhere i get pissed off and log out. And if that hapens for 2 months consecutively, i delete my subscription and as much as i love the game i move on. That just happened with WoW. Love the game, friggin hate the players. That allso raises the "importance" of some classes in the game well above others, thing which i really find unfair. I mean you want to get a group together to go somewhere and you just can't find a tank or a healer partly because most of them are saved, some of them don't want to do the instance and so on. And eventualy you find a crappy healer or tank that will cause repeated wipes cuz they are not good enough but you can't really say anything because they will leave and you will be back to looking for group but with a very nice repair bill on your hands. That just sucks. Well that's my 2 cents anyway. |

World of Warcraft: Fuller: Instancing in Problems WoW
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/08/09 2:36:59 AM
You got it all wrong ppl. And anyone who has played pre TBC Wow will agree with me. All the prblems in wow these days are caused by the fact that the game has gotten easier and easier with eatch patch. Back in the day when having epic items on you meant something, only uber players were able to run a 40 man raid. There were jokes and kits about how a MC Raider has no life. Get serious today i have a lvl 80 Priest who is fully dressed from Naxx 25 and have barely touched Ulduar and a lvl 80 DK that can't get into any group because 5 man group requirements outvalue the raid requirements. Go try and get in a group for any 5 man heroic with a character with only blue items and you will get a response like "pff with that gear? with that def? with that DPS ?" even if your gear/dps/healing/def is more than enough to go in a heroic dungeon. No .. the players these days want to run a Heroic instance in 10 - 20 minutes in order to be able to go to another. And why not? You can get more marks today doing 3 instances in 1 hour than your get in a raid. Think about it , an instance has 5 bosses, they all drop marks (or badges) and that can be done in 20 minutes with the latest gear from the latest Instances (i'm talking about Trial of the crusader or Tiral of the Champion) so a 5 man super geared group will get 15 badges in the time they would run a 3 -4 boss quester in Naxx ... So in my oppinion, the worse thing blizz could have done, and did, is to make the game easy and accesible to every 10 year old kid who gets a char up in 1 week then begs and cries untill he gets some decent geat only to kick others out of a group just cuz they had a char not so well geared. That's why players are quiting wow. The bigest problem is that most ppl who played wow will not play anything else, because they like the idea of wow, the feeling and everything, just not what it has becomed today. Most players say, oh .. i will put my subscription on hold and wait for cataclysm ... see what that brings. |
