Yeah not really interested in temporary content. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

Could have been effort spent on new fractals, dungeons or battlegrounds. I know they are different teams, but the resources could have been better spent.

I have currently seen all I need to see from GW2. Aside from the odd PvP match, theres really no reason for me to go back and visit, and the Southsun content doesnt really call out to me either.

I will probably go back if they add a new continent (Cantha or Elona), as the leveling was enjoyable, but it doesnt really have the same appeal at endgame as GW1 had for me. Basically they need a dungeon revamp and more battleground / arena modes.  Also more character customisation. 1 set of skills per weapon is not enough. I was hoping an expansion would have fixed that, but that is apparently on ice.  The new skills in the GW1 expansions kept the game fresh. They need that.

I think they just focused on all the wrong things. Only thing that has gotten decent love is WvW.

The next big thing will need to be dramatically different or offer something we havent seen before. WoW did it by making MMOs casual and easy to get into.  Wildstar doesnt really offer anything new other than a home for disgruntled WoW players. It will take a piece of the pie like SWTOR did, but it will not be the next big thing.

"only successful sub"? EVE and SWTOR would like to have a word with you...

SWTOR?

Is 500k subs not successful?

Not on this forum.

The real reason F2P does so well is that there is no expenditure cap. With P2P everyone spends $15. Theres no way for people who are willing to spend more to do so. With F2P, players who really love a game or have more disposable income can spend as much as they want.  It creates a secondary economy also where players who don't have time to play can use real money to buy items from players who have ample free time (hence contributing to keeping the paying players, even though those players themselves do not directly pay the company).

Lets face it, micro-transactions are the way of the future.  Music, TV, entertainment... its all moving towards paying for exactly what you want.

Storm legion purchasers get a bit shafted.

All you get are the new souls, which will probably sell in the cash shop for much less than the expansion, which didnt release all that long ago.

They probably should throw in a few more sweeteners for SL purchasers.

I agree, best story in a DC game thus far.

Nah Injustice beats it hands down.

Not surprised. With the quality of F2P competition out there now, I don't think any game can really compete without adapting. WoW will probably go F2P when it dips to 5 million.
EQ 1 and 2, and GW1

Gave it a shot since all my friends were trying it out. It just seems broken. And the D&D title is just there for show. Some foundry quest were nice. But the pvp was just .... broken, lagging around the place. The engine seems kapput. Just another one month superstar.

Runs flawlessly on my 2 year old computer while playing in Australia. Are you trying to play on DOS from a dial up connection?

As I said earlier, find a good guild.  Joined an aussie guild on Mindflayer and am having the best experience guild-wise since EQ2. There are really awesome players in this game. Just don't expect to find them in the dungeon finder.
As a tool to level up as quick as possible, the Foundry is now redundant. But that was never really the point. Its about the experience and the journey, not the destination.  Also its still the best place to get ID scrolls and potions from. Good to do them now and again to top up.

These threads are such hater bait.

Because we have ample things to hate on with this game.......

Starting with the aggro issues making classes obeslete........

Its not about aggro issues or how useless GWF is, it is just the super bad players which play these classes.

After everyone flamed the tank aggro issue and the gwf useless in pve and pvp, I started to level both and test them.

The tank have plenty aggro skills which has to be used in right combination, guess no1 even bother to read those skills (its not simple gw2 = every skill dmg).

The GWF is a rapid fighter, i saw many just can't play him, since he is not that easy and yes he is pretty strong in pvp and pve....

It was like i thought this myths comes out when people can't play and just start flaming neverwinter forums.

Pretty much hits the nail on the head.

I have seen amazing players from every class. Some classes have a few cheap tricks (rogue daily, I am looking at you), but any class when played well really shines.  GWF are often touted as useless, but in PvE they are hands down the best AE DPS. If you aren't topping the dungeon-wide parse as a GWF, its your fault. In PvP a GWF can keep you stun-locked while they kill you easily. They have more CC than a control wizard. Yet people constantly whinge that they are underpowered.

Honestly I am more concerned about a well played GWF than I ever am about a rogue. Rogues are easy to dodge and control. GWF are unstoppable.

Also GF are fantastic for wasting peoples time in PvP, and are great at holding aggro on adds in PvE. Its true that you dont 'need' one but it makes it so much easier to kill the adds if a GF is controlling them.

Back to the OP: This is the most fun I have had in a game since Everquest 2. And I have played pretty much every MMO since. If they keep up the pace with content and new classes, I will be very happy to make this my new home.

I didn't vote because only Psion is a class that hasn't been done to death in other mmos. I would rather go with a Battle-mage or wild-mage, how about a berserker for a melee? Or a Runepriest for healer or even the warlord/marshal?

Runepriest was datamined to be one of the next 3 classes to be released.

Next on the block are:

- Ranger

- Warlock

- Runepriest

Warlock was the most complete, and warlock gear was dropping in closed beta.

I didn't vote, just started the game.

I've played a Cleric and a Control Wizard to lvl 5 or so, and there is almost no difference that I can tell. They both are "blasters" in the old CoH term, casting attacks at 1 per second. The Cleric could kill most stuff with 2 shots. The Cleric plays totally different than any other Cleric I've played, and seems to really just be a Wizard with a different graphic and a small healing side effect.

I hope the other classes aren't so similar, and that they become different later in the game.

Please play longer.  Level 5 hasn't even acquired their 2nd encounter power yet.

I am always amazed that people think they are qualified to comment on classes / games before they even make it past the tutorial.

The cleric and mage both use magic from range. That's about where the similarities end. Everyone can kill stuff in two shots at level 5. Come back at 35.

If a player pays, then the game is not free.

That's not how it works.

Point made by poster above...

You misunderstand the term. F2P means that payment model does not require any charges upfront, unlike P2P or B2P where you need to pay before accessing the service.

If someone makes a purchase from a cash shop is it still free?   How is it that a game can be called F2P, but by most "data" collection reports, 10% of the people don't play the game at zero cost?

I just ask these question because there seems to be a double standard applied to mmorpgs.   It is a simple fact, that a person's friend can take them out to eat at a restaurant, and they would never call that restaurant " free to eat ".    Yet, here we are 221 posts later and players still continue to call some MMORPGs " free to play ".

Yeah, if you want to get technical they should be called 'Microtransaction based MMOs', but Free to Play sounds better to the masses.

No the armor appearance starts changing slowly throughout gameplay, dungeon acquired blues look completely different as well in some cases, it also depends on the rarity of the armor, the rarer it is the more different it will appear than other armors.

Yep this. Although don't expect anything massively out of character like you see in other MMOs. You won't be running around with massive shoulder guards that are completely impractical for a rogue to wear. They stick to the class style, so you will always be in leather with some kind of mask.

Also they have a very robust dye system, with 2-3 dyes being able to be used n each armour piece.

This is really cool and would be something I wouldnt mind seeing in every game I play. Even though f2p keeps me from playing this game, the foundry idea gets a plus one from me. Pretty cool guys.

F2P is the main reason to play the game.  Subscriptions are dieing and within 10 more years it will become an obsolete business model so better embrace it!

F2P wouldn't be bad if it didnt cost you more in the long run then sub based games.  Paying real cash to respec after they lock you into a spec when you start?  No thanks I'll pass.  Have to buy keys with cash in order to open boxes, ill pass.  F2P can be good if the f2p model is made decently.

This game F2P model is nothing short then Highway Robbery.  40 bucks for a mount?  Last time I was ingame you could actually buy stat gear with zen.  Pay to win?  No thanks ill pass on that too.  You suck so bad you can't gear up?  Well just buy "enchantments" that will bloat your gear for you.  I have been playing the "modern" mmo since AC and EQ way back in 1999 and I have to say, the route these games are taking is sad and pathetic.

Give us a sub based option along with the cash shop and I'd be happy.  Something similiar to Sony's F2P models.  I rather like Turbines F2P model on lotro also.

See, this is the kind of uninformed rubbish that clutters this forum.

1) You can buy feat respecs with Astral Diamonds. And its not that many either at max level. 5 days of full refining of AD will get you a respec. Or the sale of a single T2 item.

2) Lock boxes have nothing in them that you cant acquire an equivalent of normally. The main drawcards are the pet and the mount, which are more for show.

3) The mounts are account wide and you can get an equivalent speed by simply playing the game. This is just cosmetic.

My character is nearly fully decked out after 2 weeks and spending no real life money (aside from the Founders pack, which didn't help with obtaining end game gear). The mount saved me about 500k AD, although I can earn that many AD in half a day of play at level 60.

Its pay to advance quicker. Not pay to win. And if you don't feel like investing time in character development, why bother playing MMOs at all?

The only thing that will take any sort of time investment is leveling runestones to the final tier. Which doesnt really boost the stats by an overly impressive amount (so you can use Rank 6 while you grind) and you can boost your chances by earning AD in the meanwhile to buy coalescent wards with.

I'd like to see this feature added to some top games.   Neverwinter is just too pay big-time to win for me to continue playing.   I really miss subscription games where the devs designed according to what would be fun and not how to make the store sucessful.

Except its not. My main already has 70% of the max tier runes and aside from the Founder pack, I haven't paid a cent in the Zen market.

All that the Zen market does is saves time. The best gear in this game is very achievable within a month or two of reaching end game.

Lesson? Never PUG.

Find you a group of friends who play when you do and roll with them. From your guild or something.

Dont play with jackasses. leave group, it isnt worth your time.

Pretty much this.

I gave up on PUGs long ago. Also you will find the Neverwinter dungeon finder to be massively inadequate for epic dungeons. It wont even guarantee a healer or tank, which you actually do need. Although youll find in this game that GFs tank the adds, and rogues just stay on the names.

Solution? Find a good guild. As per most games.

completely missed the point of the post. The fact that all i have to do is hold down one button to win, is not gaming in my book.

SWTOR is complex compared to this game... just amazing how times have changed. I guess thats what we get these days, one button and watch !

Pretty soon we will all just be back watching TV again.. what ?  *boggle*

SWTOR is supermacro junk compared to this game.
