In answer to the guy above me, the Dest side is saying the same thing about the slayer.  It seems that the majority of players believe that a "balanced" game is one where every class can be beaten by the class which they are playing.

I also would like to point out that you are ranting about a game which you don't play anymore and have "heard" about from buddies.

I currently play the game.  The choppas, especially in a group, are tough to handle.  As a Warrior Priest though, I try to surround myself with a group of slayers and watch them kill everything in site while I group heal them.  We plow through choppas and drink their tears.  To which I would fully expect you to respond with "OMG SLAYER GROUPS WITH A WP IN THEM ARE SO OP, BALANCE THE GAME MYTHIC!!!"

Coming from WOW, this game is the closest thing to balanced I have played yet.  I win half the time, I die half the time.  That sounds lke balance to me.

In response to the orignal article, I think the author is trying to help out the new players.  One of the bad things about this game is that it often relies on you to figure out what you are supposed to do next (Think: that live event Tower scenario).  Hopefully this article will help the T1 people get better without all the yelling and cursing.

Oh and T1?  For the love of God, stop going after the Tanks first....That little healer in the back is laughing at you.

I've been hearing a lot of praises and a lot of griping.

NO, it is not anything innovative or groundbreaking.  WOW has a great working game already.  Why mess with it?

It is however something new to explore.  After years of wandering around seeing nothing new, it was fun to go into new areas with no knowledge of what you were going to see or run into.  The loot is already better than most of my previous gear (I have gained over 1k health and armor in 2 levels).  My only complaint is that the beginning quests were fun (fly over and bomb things) however the later zones become all about the grind.

I'm having FUN, which is more than I can say about most of the MMO's out there right now, so I'm happy with it.

Funny how most of the player written reviews say how boring EVE is.

Yet those few die hards keep trying to hack the voting in an effort to prove how awsome they are......again.

Kind of reminds me of the earlier days of SWG, when everyone would sit in a cantina with nothing to do and talk about how awsome the game was and how World of Warcraft will never make it.

Sorry to all the EVE fanbois.  I'm still not going to play your game.

As a non-raiding, PvP loving, casual player, I activated my account before BC came out only for this patch.  The amount of BG's needed to gain even the slightest honor is ridiculous.

However Blizzard has always catered to it's raiders.  If you got enjoyment from shutting out the rest of the world so you could run BWL 200 times or found that 21 hours of PvP a day wasn't enough, then you are Blizz's ideal customer.  And those were the people that were bitching when the "rest of us" were now able to get epics.

I agree with the author.  I enjoy this game more than any out right now.  However there are a lot of games coming out and a couple more decisions like this, and the WoW era will end.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but I am loving the new patch.

I'm a hunter and the new beastmaster spec is destroying people in epics, even when I'm in all blues.

Also I now have a chance to get PvP gear and not give up my entire real life....Hurray!

I know a lot of people were talking about quitting because of the patch, but I must say from a hunter's point of view, it's awsome.

Just my opnion.

I can maybe see the items and character, but giving away the skills too??

Thats a pretty good deal......with free skills.

From another mature player, I'd say roll horde, and stay off the pvp servers.  The Pve and RP servers seem to have less jackasses.  You will find imature kiddies on both sides, but toward the higher levels it seems that the Horde has a better tighter community.  However a few things to consider:

If you are a raider, you will have better luck on the alliance side finding full raiding guilds.

If you are PvP-er (like I am) then Horde is a better choice, they win most of the WSG and AB's.

Of course I'm going to get flamed for this post because I'm using broad and wide generalizations, and of course servers are all different and there are exceptions on both sides.  But from someone that has played since day 1, those are my impressions of each side.

/salute to a fellow imp, my hunter needs a pet rancor.

Hehe, I love this guy.

Nice article dood.

Does it even matter?  Does anyone pay attention to those ratings anyway?

Someone could spam vote Dark and Light to the top, but that doesn't mean I'm going to run outta my house and buy it.

BTW, everyone knows this site is heavily populated by EVE fanbois.  If you ignore em, they'll leave you alone.

Tried leveling up lately?

I'm doing it with an alt right now and it's a pain in the ass.

If you know this "easy" way then tell me please.

It's unbelievable how strongly people hate Dan cause he doesn't put a little sugar in his articles.  Even the pinkest carebear out there has been questing and come across another player 20 levels below him who is flagged.  Why would you not kill him?  Just because he gets a certain sick satisfaction from putting actual people in the ground instead of bots, he should be fired and this is the "worst article I have read"?????

All your whining is doing is encouraging people like me to kill everyone I come across in the hopes that instead of just rezzing and getting back to work, you are actually crying, slamming your keyboard and throwing things around the room.  And based on the responses to this article, that is pretty likely.

Agree, and Agree

Might be nice to look a little different than everyone else out there.  WAR supposedly is allowing you to hang skulls from your armor.  Even if it is a the same armor everyone else has, that little tweek can mean a lot to a player.

And yes I hate raiding as well.  As much trouble and guild drama I went through to get the Tier 1 stuff, there is no way I was going to completely ignore RL again to get another purple.  Do I get destroyed in PvP?  Sometimes.  WoW loves Raiders.  Because they never cancel their account hehe.

I quit WoW for just that reason.  I'll resub for BC because I heard it is possible through PvP to get raid quality gear without the 80 hour a week BG grind.  We'll see.

It's a good game.  Great mechanics.  Few Bugs.  Easy to play.  Now if they can listen to the rest of us besides the raiding-every-night-forum-trolls, it'll be even better.

So I came back to SWG after leaving (NGE).  Doing the damn legacy quests trying to level up.  Of course you all asking why?????

I love Star Wars.

So after two weeks of legacy crap, riding everywhere doing pointless quests trying to gain levels I decided to take a few hours and do something that truly felt like Star Wars.  I started playing Battlefront 1 and Jedi Academy and finally was enjoying myself again.

My question is: Am I the only one that plays SWG, but plays other games to get my Star Wars fix?  How did a game that is supposed to immerse you totally in the star wars universe miss the mark by so much?

I really hope that if this SWG 2 rumor is true, they take a page from some of the better SW games which actually "feel" like Star Wars.

All I heard was "WAAAAAA"

Healing Mind Wounds

Agree 50%

When the new games come out in '07 there will be an exodus from SWG.  Some due to new games coming out and some due to the fact there there will be even less people logged in.  Vanguard is only one of the games that will be taking players from SWG.

I would caution them against making sweeping changes yet again though.  The 2 times they "revolutionized" the game everyone left.  There is a current trend on the SWG forums of the devs asking for opinions from the players.  This is what killed them the first two times.  Making drastic changes because of the whines of the few that post on the boards will not please the masses.

I am playing again after a loooong WoW break.  If they had launched the game in it's current form, I believe they would have had a very successful, long living game.  It has it's problems (traders) but it is a decent game.  Many people cry about how good the game was "back in the day."  I call BS.  It had it's major problems or they wouldn't have changed it.  However during the change, many people's hard work went out the window (shout out to all you Master CH's and those of you that unlocked).

Like I said I'm playing again and enjoying myself. The main thing I'm wishing for is players though.  Doing the same quests as everyone else, yet not having anyone to do them with kinda sucks.

What is this about fastest way to level is in space?  I am leveling up a new commando (doing legacy yet again) and I get about 9 combat xp per kill.  Yes I said 9.  Considering the thousands of xp needed to level this seems like the worst way to do it.  Or maybe I'm stoopid.

Rob,

The lightbulb just went on brother.

Instant Gratification has become the player drug of choice.

Genius, pure genius.

And that....is not sarcasm.

Love the sarcasm man.  "It's all about the journey"  Got it.

Lemme flip the coin on ya though.

How about they innovate me a way to level that doesn't involve me whacking these new supermobs you are talking about 18 million, gadgillion putrillion times.  Gimme something besides the go kill 14 of these, or loot 18 of those, deliver this pie, or escort this little chicken.  Innovate me a "funner" journey and I will be more than happy to level slower.

People wouldn't be in such a tizzy to get to the end-game, if the end-game wasn't the only fun thing to do in the game.

My friend, life has bashed you down for the last time.  It is now time to turn to a life of crime.
