Ranking Aion as the 4th scariest launch in history is quite offensive considering the vast competition out there.

Well that was kinda obvious. Anyone who knows Blizz knows they tend to release stuff a good year or more after it's announced.

Not really because people have more important things to do than rely on other people to advance their progression.

Nah. He's perfectly right. That's the way this game is going to be in the eyes of the sandbox/SWG pre-CU/UO crowd. It will be a failure because it doesn't cater to their tastes and thus, can't be good.

Everyone else....well, I'd advise people, as usual, to stay put and wait. As i said before, BioWare has a big chunk of respect from me, simply because so far, they have never disappointed me with a game, so I am fairly optimistic about this one. That the trailer doesn't tell anything about the game, is just common sense.

And that in the end, people should wait for the final product to be just around the corner to make up their minds is also common sense. Except for the sandbox/UO crowd. Because for them, this game is definately not the one. I don't say this with a sense of anger or hatred towards those people, but just as a statement of fact.

Cheers.

It's alright. Graphically the characters are quite impressive but don't how long the game can keep any particular person interested.

In terms of zones and land mass it would have to be EQ.

Only 5%-10% read the forums and even less post on it. I haven't read the forums in 3-4 months but still actively play.

Ah yeah one of the top selling MMOs is full of fail because you said so, uh huh.

This thread is full of fail.

June 2001 Funcom released Anarchy Online, probably the 1st or 2nd worst release of all time, only WWII Online could argue they had a even worse release.

Understand this. The reason you got AoC in the mail yesterday was because Funcom understands their horrilbe track record releasing MMO's and didnt want people canceling the pre-orders after experiencing the EA. Paying 5 bucks is a cheap way to see if a company has lived up to the hype they created or failed.

People got their copies in the mail when they did because it's not feasible for some people to download 13gigs of game client so getting a copy just in time for Early Access so they could install off cds worked in their favor.

It's your drivers. Go back to a previous version.

K-2 is horrible on so many levels. IAH puts them to shame with cheaper cash shop, better CMs and of course IAH has Hrin, that right there is the clincher.

Welcome to the world that is Korean MMOs. SOTNW has some pretty addictive gameplay and makes it really pleasant to level up multiple characters.

The haters on these forums are so predictable. These people were the same who were hyping this game like crazy before it was released, also the same people who were hyping the hell out of dark and light, horizons, and you name whatever else MMO flop that pops into your brain.

I think the people that are having the most fun in MMOs is the people that don't let hype get to them. I can't think of one MMO ever that has had everything (or even close to it) that was promised in development actually come at launch of the game. This is sounding like gibberish to even me right now so I guess what I'm trying to say in a nutshell is stop getting your hopes so high for games that aren't even released yet (or anything else for that matter... iPhone anybody? ).

I've never taken more than a few passing glances at a game in development, and I've yet to be to terribly disappointed in any as a result. In fact, I really, truly enjoy VG. The only thing keeping me away is lack of time to play and lack of players on the servers. But you can bet your ass once the mergers roll around I'll be hopping right back in. And once SOE gets the rest of the major bugs worked out, you can bet there will be a free trial, and VG will rise again just like EQ2 did. All I'm seeing from you assholes is negative bullshit as you go on to hype the 'next big thing' thats still in development. And I know damn well who the first people to bitch about those games are.

Grow up...

Blah blah blah....you obviously don't get it. A lot of people had high hopes for VG and expected it to deliver some sort of quality and it failed and people have every right to be disappointed and complain about it. You're the one that actually needs to grow up SOE fanboi.  Everyone expects a game not to deliver everything promised on release but there is a reasonable expectation such as reasonable server stability, complete animations, a stable game that doesn't crash every 2 seconds.  Sorry to burst your bubble there but EQ2 never rose from mediocre and you're delusional if you think SOE is going to do anything to improve VG. Anything SOE touches gets destroyed. VG will be no different because SOE doesn't plan on doing a thing to VG to change it to make it better other than maybe stabilize it. SOE doesn't care what players think.

I just can't stand games where you have to solely rely on grouping to advance. Same thing that turned me off from FFXI.

It's a sad day for the 10 people that still play DnL lol.  I'd love to see an announcement stating DnL servers have been shutdown and that someone else has taken over who plans to make a real game out of it.

Anyone else notice this guy never talks about what makes a game fun or seems to actually know what goes on in the game itself (instead he just uses the word "stuff" as if he has a clue or hide behind "we haven't announced that yet").  On the other hand he sure does talk about pricing models, future revenues and new ways to get people to spend money.  He always talks about the money and never the game.

He is a big part of why Sony doesn't stand a chance to make quality games anymore.  Instead he talks about past mistakes in marketing and flooding to many expansions and not about the missing fun factor in his titles.

It really sounds as if he is still trying to figure out why things worked in 1999 with EQ and don't work today.

I find it funny that in every Smed post of late, he keeps talking about going for the Asian market with SOE. Eight years later he doesn't quite get American gamers and now he is going to breeze overseas, figure out their gaming approach and pull another miracle out of his pocket.

It's not like when American rockstars get old but can still go overseas and sell out concerts, Smed.

It's actally not as of late, he's been saying that since the NGE was dumped on SWG.  No char customizations plus insane grindfests will be a key part of SOE's next game/

Forced grouping and relying on others for your char progression is not my idea of fun.
Lie, you can easy solo with more or less all classes, blocked for lying.

complication blocked too, for lying and saying BETA information, not current state.

It's not lying when it's the truth. VG ranks right there at the bottom with Dark & Light. Go Sony! Just when one thought it couldn't get any worse than D&L, here comes SOE with VG.
Forced grouping and relying on others for your char progression is not my idea of fun.
Anything with permadeath is full of fail.
