Further proof that forced pvp is a set up for failure. No mmo can survive without catering to pvers.

SOE/LA massacred the game with the CU & NGE and the killing blow was player cities. TOR is everything SWG should have been.

GW2 won't even come close to TOR.  Just because there's a convention doesn't mean more info needs to be released.

SWG was trash after the first year. LA & SOE murdered everything that made SWG cool.

In this video you see.. typical UI, typical mmorpg quests/ideas.   The combat looks extremely boring....   What moves did he use... oh yah explosions and shoot a laser gun....

I see an mmo like rift and like wow and like all the rest that uses the same ui and ideas.    

What makes this game different?   The fact that its the star wars universe?

I mean come on... the graphics arent even good... have you seen guild wars 2 and battlefield 3.... get with the future...

Someone point out why they think this is good or revolutionary because the things that people havent see is what they tend to say is the good aspects.   Its all a bunch of BS,  this game looks worse then rift did and that game wasnt even that bad.

*I should probably input that dynamic events are the future of games.... so i guess questing makes SWTOR downgrade?

 

Get off the Star Wars band wagon and stop fan boying, this game analzyed from an MMO point is so typical and fail.... remember this when it launches.

 

BIG Edit*  The main idea is... from what i have read and seen the general mmo industry wants to see different and better games... have you seen why people ripped apart RIFT... thats a unique storyline... not some ripped off book or movie.  Bioware doesnt have to use as much creativity and the game looks typical.  This site MMORPG also claims that the game is revolutionary... so I am helping people to not be misinformed.

you can play it all day if you want... have all the Star Wars you can possibly have!  Im just sheddling light on what this game isnt because people tend to be very fan boy.

I don't know what you saw but what I've seen  was epic.

OP might need to puff,puff pass because Rift is doing quite well, considerably better than most. Now Earthrise however is a flop.

well, SW;TOR isnt trying to be SWG so it doesnt matter that it fails at it.. the focus is on storyline etc, its a themepark after all, SWG was a sandbox.. so of course SW;TOR is going to fail at that.. though you could say.. it was in trying to turn SWG into a themepark that caused that to fail.. doesnt mean SW;TOR will though..  SW;TOR might lack a great many things that SWG had, but just because SW;TOR lacks SWG's flexibility isnt necessarily a bad thing, and its quite possible that the storylines in SW;TOR will make up for lack of a space simulator etc, that SWG had, and the complex crafting etc.. just because SW;TOR fails at being the next SWG... isnt necessarily a bad thing..  just .. a bit disappointing for those who were hoping for something progressive

 

I'm actually referring to SWG failing to be a quality Star Wars game that SW:TOR will be. SWG was great for the first year. I remember waking up at all times of the night to defend our imperial HQs as well as raiding those with vulnerable windows including our base outside of Anchorhead which stood for 90 days before we let it fall. After that first year SWG blew chunks. Without commenting on specifics because I can't, just looking what's been made public, one can easily tell combat is far superior to what SWG has met it's fate as.

 You know I've been a cynic for a lot of years but even I like to get a little excited about a game every now and then just to remember what it feels like. There's a fair chance this one won't end in tears and ruin so what the hell. Let them have some fun.

Some know from experience, others can just assume.

Leaked release date is supposedly November 25th so no nothing unusual about it.

GOTY contender if not winner.

NDA won't be lifted for months yet.

It was a steaming pile of trash a year ago and still is.

I'll still be playing Rift. It's well done, a lot of fun, something different.  Trion's done well with it.

Both, TOR looks fine graphically.

Shouldn't matter if it affects WoW or not. WoW's doing a fine job at affecting WoW.  WoW's been around so long and has it's die hard player base and always will. SWTOR will do what SWTOR does and will probably have minimal affect on WoW's player base other than attract people looking for something different from the same ol same ol because it's been out so long.  Of course the hype is pretty much like nothing ever seen before because it's what SWG should have been and failed to do hence SWG meets it's death in December.

I'd pay the $200 for an LTS without question.
