Having had a 80 HOX since before the combat changes last year I can deffinetly tell you this is outdated information.

The longest combo's we have now are 3 stroke combos.

I havent played for a while but I believe the final Hell Strikes may even be a 2 stroke combo.

This game is shaping up pretty nice at the moment. If they deliver on what theyve said I may have to get back into MMO's when this comes out. Im to huge of an oblivion fan to pass this one up.

A very well articulated, spot on review, that really hits the nail on the head with how Darkfall is in Bizzarro World.

(incase anyone else gets this error)  I repaired the client,(same thing was needed for AoC first time).  I waited in queu again for an HOUR.  Then I created my Mirdain Elf.  I would Like to say I love the entry music.  The whole login and queu screen and music gives me missed memorys of DAoC back in the day.  The screen and music gives u a epic feeling like your about to engage in a darkage world.  After a few quick minutes of custimization thats a bit below average,  The features are better then free to play MMO's but worst then subscriptiion MMos.  I entered Leafheim.  Immediatly theres a quick tutorial screen that gives you the keyboard keys and important world interaction keys, R and F.  Then you basically walk around mindlessly looking for the starter quests.  First thing you notice is wow im running VERY slow, and sprinting feels a bit slower then normal MMO run speed.  So I am exploring the elven establishment completely awed at the graphics and masterpeice of environment.  You Collision detection is applied to Everything which is impressive, and then you start to notice your are Running FASTER.  Your run and sprint levels up and you keep getting faster.  I was worried at first but then your just amazed because u can expect what it would be at really high lvls.  So after running around for an hour asking people around and running into people doing the same. YOU HAVE TO ASK PEOPLE FOR HELP!!  They directed me right to where i needed to b...the started NPC is right where u enter the game lol.  And NPCs have orange dots on the mini-map.  The rest of my day engaged in a long quest chain that shows you the ropes of the game.  First you are sent to find a goblin camp to kill 4 goblins and get 4 or 5 axes.  This quest said head north-east, I searched for a good 20 minutes and came across a ruined stone hedge on top of a mountain with a camp of large trolls, For a first Mob encounter it was the most intense PvE minus raids and bosses in other games I have ever had.  After breaking the troll to half health he ran in a zig-zag to is other friends,  they even talk to you in the monster tab.  I managed to kill 1/3 and died.  Then I asked my friend i made the first hour where the goblin camp was.  It was south-east and the map shows a red icon and even says the words Goblins in the mini-map.  All I can say is if your a carebear, dont waste your money.  I am far from a carebear and am extremely hard-core so I was loving every second of this game.  The goblin camp is a battleground,  noobs are trying to PK,  goblins are strafing, flanking, ganking and managing to kill noobs even when its like 3 or 4 goblins vs 10-20 people.  And The best thing about this,  everyone is amazingly slow at Looting.  I was Ninja Looting everyone, getting all sorts of starter loots and golds.  I went back to turn in my quest and I encounted my first personal bug aside from the goblins sometimes bugging out rarely.  For some strange reason the interaction keys stop working.. I ask and its a really common bug.  I try to use F and R and they dont work, I cant talk to the NPC or Loot anyone,  It happened twice today.  When i was on my way back I see a rogue with full gear and loot get killed,  Me being the great ninja looter I keep smashing the F key,  It would not work, I was pissed.  I was naked and only managed to get a sword and shield of my first goblins.  When I went to turn in the quest Is when i realized it was really a bug.  Luckily I get a message saying the servers are going to shut down for 10 minutes to reset or something.  immediatly when it kicked me out I re-queued and was back in within 8-10 minutes.  The bug was gone and I headed for the bank to stash.  After turning in my quest I was sent on a chain of crafting quests where they show u the ropes of crafting.  I gotta say I love crafting in this game,  Everyone says its bland and tedious but I hated the whole Right Click crafting in ALL other games.  in this game you have to sheath your tool and action button(attackbutton) the node.  The thing for me is you actually have to aim your crosshair right at it, and sheath the tool.  It just feels so much more engaging.  Anyways My next loggin requeued after my second bug and I gotta log back in because im addicted (this queu took an hour and 20 minutes) (Queu times are the worst thing about this game).  Im going to post my Part 2 of day 1 later tonight.

Have you ever played a game besides WOW(asking because of the comment about combat)?? Please get over yourself, its a game, your not hard core(Go pick a fight with a biker gang if your so hard core) for playing a game and damn the word "carebear" is getting really damn annoying to hear from all you L33tzors PK'ers...  Please get over yourself and do a real review next time...

Horrible animations aside it looked pretty good, however what the heck were they a attacking eachother with? nerf bats? Seems like the only person that died in that siege was the person recording the video and even that took 10 minutes of him getting beat.

Im not sure if youve ever played a smallish budget game, I believe the name was Crysis Warhead?? They use the same effect, so yes even though it is a high end graphics game small steps like this that dont detract from immersion but help a butload with playability are fine with me. After around 5 months of playing the game there were only around 5 times were I actually noticed this effect in play. AOC doesnt need to do anything with there graphics they need to focus on expanding the game itself with more content and things to do. The game has problems, graphics certainly are not one of them.

Im guessing the OP didnt actually play AOC at launch whatsoever or they would realize this is just a rediculous poll. AOC's launch was just about as close to perfect as you can get with an mmo launch. Everyone was able to get in, servers were stable, I dont remember a server crashing once. It wasnt until weeks after launch that all the problems started surfacing.

Darkfall, has had the most horrible, joke of a launch I can recall for an mmo period. Im sure there has been worse but I wasnt around for them.

For some reason the graphics really remind me of Spyro the Dragon for PS.

Sounds like your getting feat points and skill points mixed up. At lvl 10 you'll start getting feat points to spend on your feats in the feat tab. you'll gain skill points to spend on your skills(running, hiding, bandaging  etc..) in the skill tab every level. You do not have to buy new spells and abilities/combo's you'll learn them automatically at level ups and also through your feats you can spend your feat points on. Check the manual for more info.

Dude, seriously just read posts on this forum and you can see everything you mentioned has been improved since then. If those were the only reasons you quit Id say pick it up and try it out.

I would skip the quad all together, its not really needed at all right now AOC wont take advantage of it and you can get a beast of a C2D for much much cheaper that will run AOC with ease. C2D's also overclock like a beast. Take your savings and get a better GFX card and 4gb of ram. You should be able to put together quite a nice pc for under a grand that will play AOC max(or any game for that matter) in HD, just have to be smart about what your getting.

I for one deffinetly dont want the game to fail. I have deffinetly gotten a disliking for the company behind it in the past few months though. I still hope theyre able to work everything out and turn it into a success though, because it does sound like it could be a fun game if fixed up enough. Also I would love it if more sandbox games started coming out so hopefully if they can turn it into a success it will inspire other companies to take a chance. Still I think Adventurine is either just very stupid or has some very shady practices.

For endgame there is something like 6 raid dungeons, quite a few group dungeons like 8? There is pvp mini games, siegeing, city building, crafting and more stuff Im sure Ive left out. Been a while since I played tbh.

Dude, you could have played tic tac toe and it would have had the same effect. WOW is just freakin boring..
