I agree with the concept the OP is trying to get across to some gamers. As the games progress into requiring more from PC's, the user will need to upgrade regularly. This is an unfortunate but inevitable part of being a gamer. Just as an example, there is the XBox, Wii and PS3 in the console world. Many console gamers bought these new systems because games were being designed to take full advantage of new technology.

Now, I don't have a ton of money to spend and upgrade every few months, but I do know that as a PC gamer that upgrading components is very important if I want to grow with the gaming world. I guess some hobbies are more expensive than others.

I have to admit that I played AC for 2 years and WoW for a little over 1 year and as far as constant monthly content being released; AC wins hands-down. I got very excited about what each month in AC would bring. New Dungeons, new quests, new armor, new weapons, new or continuing story arcs which included mobs attacking towns, new mobs...etc.

Wow did have content updates too but in the time I played they didnt always come monthly. Players had to sometimes wait a few months for the content to go live. When the content was released it was cool but usually was focused on specific players. Either for a level range ala Raid Dungeons or PvP/Battlegrounds.

They both had/have their goods and bads. As far as the amount of content I will have to restate, AC wins hands-down.

Would this be the elitist behavior that some of you have mentioned?

Hexxeity, you are so right!

I would like to see comparisons of character models and animations. Environment screenshots have been done to death. Could someone please post comparison screenshots of character models and stills of  animations of combat/spells? Oh, and please dont touch them up or have them so dark you cant see them.

Thank you.

Yes, the topic question sounds a bit odd. Who would ever think  a mmorpg world might be too big.
Heck, most of the worlds seem too small. The reason I pose this question is that I seem to come across so many large giagantic and beautiful cities and structures of interest that are desolute.

I play a level 11 Paladin Dwarf who enjoys visiting is home city, but the city is DEAD. In fact I have visited my city 5 times in tha last week days and have seen one other player in the city during primetime. My best friend and roomate has a lvl 15 Vulman Shaman who is down in Qalia and he has visited "Khal", which is a very very large city bustling with npc's, and the dark elf city (forgot the name) and has come across 2 players in a few nights game play.

Was it necessary to make so many places so large to be just vacant?
Was the population suppose to support bustling cities?

I like the game but sometimes I feel like I am in a ghost world where all the players are having fun somewhere else other than where I am and I am left in the dark.

Just trying to get insight. Please clue me.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I have much in the way of value to trade. I suppose my soul might fetch a few copper.

Anyway, if you happen to have a spare beta key around I would be very interested in providing testing and feedback for this game.

Thank you.

1. You can level doing quests, missions or hunting. PvP is seperate.

2. Max level is 20.

3. Yes, every class can solo. In fact some zones offer NPC's (healers, warriors, etc. to assist you).

4. The quests are alot of fun and usually lead to other quests. Its not hard to hit level 20, so grinding is not really there.

5. You can use WASD keys, arrow keys or mouse click to move. Keys can be mapped and can be designated to more that one move.

6. Extra - You can dye armor and weapons. Crafting can be done by anyone and is very nice. You can upgrade your weapons and such with NPC's

7. The PvP is fast paced and with Factions, you will impact the areas of the game world.

I just started playing recently and I am having alot of fun! The world is colorful, bug and full of content and Factiosn is coming out this Friday. I should be very busy for a long time.

You know what really suprises me most is that people consider smoking a horrible atrocity, but drinking alcohol is okay. Its not okay to advertise tobacco products on television, but its okay to advertise beer and liquor. Mabye this has something to do with the big money paid for commercial slots.

All I know is I would rather have person with a cigarette behind the wheel than a person with a six pack. Its easier to walk away from someone smoking than a mass of speeding metal that could wipe out a whole family.

I always thought playing a Lich character would be interesting.
I think abilities or skills would need to be a bit different compared to a Necromancer. Perhaps they could steal certain capabilites/traits from an opponent for a very brief period of time. In a way they could steal the opponents "soul" or "essence".

Then again, I dont know too many Liches except for those that practice law :P

I think it comes down to "who" and "how" a company can convince a large financial backer to invest in the developement of a game. It seems Sigil was able to do this well. Mabye they threw in some swamp land in Florida too ! :P

I have to agree with a few posters here.

To me FFXI is a tasking game. Not only is it extremely time consuming (not in a good way), its exhausting and stressful. I spent many a time looking for groups (most classes require forced grouping past lvl 12), trying to recoup lost levels and experience, gathering up enough funds to afford goods sold in the auction house, or just working with the user interface. Its really your decision, but at least you have more info to go on  than I did.

FYI-I played the game to lvl 27. Why? I had friends convincing me not to quit until they did. They all quit eventually.

Perhaps this is the only accomplishment that they ever performed in life. I use the term "accomplishment" loosely.

Asherson's Call 1.

Solo-quests, solo hunting, solo crafting and just plain adventuring. Oh, and variety, which some of the other suggestions dont offer much to keep you amused.

Poor communication from game developers is not a good sign for me. In fact, its one of the factors that lets me decide to play or pass.
