One good thing about EQ2 is that you can purchase the original game with the expansions included for pretty low cost. If you aren't sure though maybe you would want to try the 7 day free trial:) This way you can at least try it out. If you like it just put in your keycode and you are set to go:) Here is a link to the trial page:)
Have fun! |

Hiya:) To answer your question there are raids in EQ2, but you can raid even at lower levels all the way up until you hit 70. There are raids for each level tier. The raids range anywhere from 12-24 people depending on the mob. The biggest difference I see between EQ2 and WoW would be the community. The EQ2 community is usually very helpful. Of course just like in any game you may find a few meanies. EQ2 does have solo content but you will need a group for a lot of the game play. It is also a bit harder during fights. You have to use more thinking on which order to use your spells and such, or if in a party who should and shouldn't be casting what... of course you have to do that some in WoW too, but having played both it seems like you are more likely to die in EQ2 if you mess up (at least on the more difficult encounters). The crafting is also more skilled based. It plays very similar to the combat. You have to use different buffs (spells) to counteract things that are happening while you are crafting to get the best quality item. The item could come out different depending on how well you counter the problems that occur. EQ2 is also very rich in lore and storyline and they really bring this into their quests. You will often see the same quest giver multiple times throughout a storyline as you progress. As for zones when you are capped out at 70, yes there are zones that are not raid zones that you can find a group and go into. They are usually set up wtih some type of story behind them as well and drop some nice loot. EQ2 is definitely worth giving a try:) It is a total different atmosphere from WoW. Hopefully one that you will enjoy:)
Good luck in finding a new game! |

Wow... is all I can say! The game looks amazing!
I think this game will make a big splash. Hype has just died down because it has been in development for awhile but it will pick back up. Vanguard isn't going to overshadow anything... the game sucks and graphics are horrible. I can only imagine it will hang on from original eq players loving it. So many new games coming out that look great! Warhammer online, age of conan, and potbs. Vangaurd should have stayed in dev if they expect to measure up to these upcoming games. As far as wow, I like wow and I also play eq2. no reason every to bash wow itself. I just bought the expansion, but I must admit everytime I play wow I find the community for the most part childish. The key is to find a mature guild and ignore all the childish people and concentrate on a great game. |

The problem I have is the forums there are hard to follow and read, so I don't ever read them. Very hard to make any sense of them. |

I am looking forward to this game. It is based out of St. Louis, and well I live there, so that makes it kind of nice. Maybe a close fan faire for once:) If you all need any volunteers let me know! |

Well it really isn't and advertisment since I'm not selling anything and not any type of company. Just someone who loves games, and well the only people who read blogs of that type would be people who play games and who post in gaming forums...
And yeah I went ahead and added it to my sig, figure that would be the best way:)

That is a downside. There aren't any new servers, and a few servers merged. I suppose it is really all luck on that:( |

EQ2 is a fantastic game! I have been playing for 2 years now, and everytime I think I will quit, they come out with another expansion and I stay. The latest expansion, Echoes of Faydwer rocks my socks! I love it. It has been like a whole new game for me and a lot of others. With this expansion it is the perfect time for new players to join the game. Tons of old players, including myself are retiring their old level 70's or just rerolling new faes. You can play the new fae and go from 1-70 in the expansion area, so it makes it very easy to roll an alt and not have to relive everything you have already done. Whatever your preference EQ2 has it! Solo, group, raid, pvp. The quests are immersive and pull you into the game, and there are plenty of ongoing quests as well. I haven't seen better character customization since SWG. You can tweak your toon on pretty much every detail, and with the new AA Lines every class is going to be just a tad different. I think there is a free trial if you would like to try it out!
Enjoy! |

On the contrary, my daughter is 10 and I pay a monthly fee for her toon town online... and a ton of kids her age play that game, so I know it won't be out of the ordinary for parents to pay a monthly fee for a childs game. |

Have to agree with taipans... they wrote it as newbie experience meaning the island as the newbie place.. commenting on the changes.. it was not written as they never played before otherwise they couldn't have commented on how it used to be and how it was worse now.

First of all I have to even wonder if the reviewer even plays EQ2? The evil and good characters have always started on their own island and started in their own city... in that aspect the only thing that is different is the islands look different for each faction.. If you are going to post a review.. bad or good at least get your facts straight and sound like you actually play the game...
Shame on mmorpg for posting and featuring a review that is based on inaccurate facts... |

I agree, DnD such a let down. I had such high hopes for it because I thought, here it is DnD online, the original fantasy game, what every other game is based off of! It has to be good... but boy was I wrong.. |

The latest screenshots of this game, from Jan, are very good! Better than a lot of graphics on the market right now. I think the graphics will be fine:) |

Hmmm... As I have a 10 year old daughter who actively plays toon town, I do believe that Pirates of the Carribean is a mmo that will be meant for children:) I don't think POTBS has anything to worry about:) |
